David, the place where they’d build the stadium in Kansas is actually 20 minutes further west. Not KCK. But agree with you regardless, the Chiefs will be in KCMO for sure.
KCMO residents don't want to pay anymore taxes. Lawmakers on the Missouri side better be careful what they do to keep the Chiefs. Taxpayers have spoken.
You'd have to be familiar with the area to understand what KS is getting at when they're talking about economic opportunities. Arrowhead is currently located in the middle of nowhere with no real area to expand any commercial opportunities in the area. On the other hand, the place that KS is proposing is near the NASCAR track with areas to expand a large commercial area around the stadium. There are already businesses and restaurants in the area with lots of room to build more. I imagine some of that land around the new stadium could be part of the deal to get the Chiefs to move. Kansas could build an area similar to what KCMO did with the Power and Light District when they built the downtown arena. As far as aiding the local economy, Kansas would almost certainly benefit more from having the stadium where they are proposing that KCMO would keeping it at its current location. The reality is, the Chiefs fan base covers multiple states in the area. I don't think many of the fans will be upset if the team ends up in KS or MO, as long as they stay local. The bigger problem the Chiefs have in moving to KS is that this is a much more Republican state than MO is. And Republican voters tend to frown on tax dollars going to something like this. So if MO does step up with a decent offer, it may be difficult to get a better offer through the KS legislature.
Missouri doesn't have Star Bonds at their disposal like Kansas does which would fund the whole project without Hunt paying a cent. Plus it doesn't require a public vote
The Chiefs moving was never a big option. The last deal was with the Royals. Nobody except the Royals owner wants a downtown stadium. I can see the Royals moving out of KC but the Chiefs. You have two states competing for the Chiefs. The Chiefs fill up Arrowhead week in and week out and that hasn't changed because they have Mahomes. Even when they were sort of middling or just above average they filled the stadium every game.
By the time any change of venue for the Chiefs happens I'll be long dead so for me the point is moot. As for you David squat and watch. Your crystal ball could be defective.
Kansas isn’t trying to “steal” anything. Regardless of how crappy the Chiefs’ proposal may have been, Jackson County citizens made their decision while fully aware of the potential ramifications. This is a consequence of their actions. They had their chance with the vote and they responded with a resounding “no”. I just wish people would stop blaming Kansas for Missouri’s failure by claiming that we’re hell bent on “stealing” them, when all Kansas is doing is just trying to do everything in their power to keep them in the metro.
Missouri Voters are just short cited. In Arizona the Cardinals built a Dome Stadium on Farm Land in Glendale,AZ. Today it is a boom area with Hotels, Casino, Restaurants, Amusement Park, Entertainment, Retail Businesses, Apartments and Homes. A Tax Boom for Glendale, AZ.
It's time the Chiefs had a new training facility for their players. Those original renderings of renovations for Arrowhead really only involved upgrades for season ticket holders which isn't fair to regular taxpayers who can't even afford the cheapest of tickets.
I would argue that you haven’t seen the portion of Last week tonight where John Oliver specifically talks about the companies that jump from Missouri to Kansas and vice versa. This happens all the time. I’d bet a T-bone steak Chiefs got to Kansas
David. I would suggest taking a trip to the Kansas City region and visit the area to get a better idea of the demographics. The Kansas City metro area has strong footing in both Missouri and Kansas with most of the growth in Johnson County in Kansas in recent years.
Wouldn't it be advantageous for the Missouri residents to have them move to Kansas and make their taxpayers incur the tax increases to fund a new stadium and keep the same relative location? The stadiums as they lie now are in the industrial area and not close to anything. If they moved to Kansas it would be more convenient even for the Missouri residents.
@@oubrioko Still don't see why thats a big deal. It'd be more conveniently located for cities with bigger populations in Kansas and still a relatively short drive for the Kansas City people on the Missouri side.

With the Star program we would have little increased in taxes plus with it being next to casino they would approve gambling

As long as the Chiefs and Royals stay in Kansas City that's all I care about. It makes no difference if it's Kansas or Missouri.
