Amazing content as always Laura! You’re an inspiration, and you have motivate me and my wife to move forward with our photography business. Thank you. However, I just got into stock photography and my pictures keep getting rejected because of model releases even though it’s pictures of her or I submitted the releases and still rejected because of dates and stuff. It’s a hassle. I can’t imagine how it would be if I shot lifestyle photos of random people, I can’t ask like the artesian old lady to sign a release… do you have any info or video on this? Thank you!
Hi Dan! This is so amazing to hear! So good to know that I motivated you and your wife to move forward with your photography business! 😍 Regarding stock photography, yes, you do need model release for every single recognisable person in the picture, and they take it very seriously.
Regarding lifestyle shots, you would have to organise the photoshoot talking to the models about why you are doing the shots. Tell them that you will give them free photos in exchange for them to allow you to sell them in stock photography. I do this a lot and people are very happy with it because they get amazing shots in return! 😊 Also, you can pay a little fee to them as well if you feel better doing so.
Unfortunately, you won't be able to take random shots to random people and upload them without them knowing or without a signed model release. But it's easier that you think. People are very happy to do shootings to get pictures for themselves. Just explain them. 😊

Just wanted to say WOW! I have been a subscriber since you had 400 subs and you are definitely underrated. I am trying to upload more but my photos are not very professional looking and i am not exclusive with any website. I use a Nikon d3100 so the photo quality is not that great and i don't have a very big portfolio. Any tips for me as someone who is not a professional?

I totally understand that photo quality may be less with an old camera. I would definitely recommend you to apply in micro stock websites. It’s easier to enter and you can produce as many pictures as you want and generate an income. Pictures are sold for less but sometimes, because they are at a very low rate, more companies purchase them.
Adobe Stock, iStock and Shutterstock are the kings of micro stock. :)

Hi Laura, Im your new subscriber and at the same time new to stock photography. I just created an account on different stock photo websites....and there's a question on filling out tax info. Do I need to really fill that out?

I always upload my TH-cam thumbnail photos on the stock agencies ... and they sell!

I find the adobe stock procedure more time consuming than the shutterstocks’ one but adobe yelds more money for the same number of pics submitted, altough adobe sells fewer images… what is your opinion about that?
I heard they pay more if the image has more megapixels? Could you upscale the image to make more money?
Hola! Not really... They know the megapixeles of the photo when you upload it. Basically, if you upload a photo at very low resolution, they would put the image on sale just for web which is sold at a cheaper price. But if the image is from an average or basic DSLR, the image have resolution enough to be sold for commercial use. You would get paid higher, yes. But it doesn't work by the higher the quality, the more you earn. I hope this helped. 😊
