Ok, so it might be common for people to immediately scream: Queens/Kings! every time you react to a group but… Trust me on that one, Mamamoo are vocal queens, to understand watch a single live stage of them and you will understand just how good they are. Throughout their years in the industry they have cemented themselves as veterans in the industry as well as having many iconic moments and just overall being amazingly talented singers and artists. Each member is very well established solos and carriers as well.
I am CONSTANTLY bias flipping in this group. It started as Hwasa, then Wheein, then Moonbyul, then back to Whee, then Solar, then back to Moonbyul. YOU CAN'T PICK. Lol. They're all just insanely talented and they're all deeply eye catching and full of character and personality.
Here is the thing with Mamamoo rappers. Moonbyul (your obvious girl-crash) is the official main rapper of the group, and is actually one of the most credited ones in the industry. Hwasa is the second rapper of the group but has only a handful parts in their discography, and mostly in their early years. That's the case, officially. BUT UNOFFICIALLY, when they are off work, there are only two rappers in Mamamoo. And these rappers are nonother than the magic (and hilarious) duo of MC Duk and MC Dak, a.k.a. Solar and Wheein.😂😂😂

They all are vocalists, but since the other three are on another level Moonbyul had to start as a rapper. But she just crashed a singing competition for female rappers and could be at least main vocalist in some other gg. Hwasa rapped more in their older songs. Wheein can rap, too, but does it mostly do have fun. And don't get me started on Solar. She LOVES rapping, but nobody lets her. But they opened this can of worms with her last solo where she has a rapping part, and now... only the future will tell. She wanted to be in a musical for years and last year she got the lead in Mata Hari. If this lady wants something she does it. For guides you can't go wrong with the Purple Hawke one. And I've seen a recent one a few month ago that was good, too, but I don't remember the creator... 😞
A deep dive into Mamamoo will be long but well worth it. They have such a diverse and amazing back catalogue and that includes all their solo stuff too.
Another vote for Moonbyul's solo stuff! She is incredibly unique and talented. All of their solo work is awesome as well as any of their content! Love that you're diving into Mamamoo. Moonbyul is the main rapper and you notice her rapping in pretty much every song however, Noticed you commented on Hwasa rapping in Hip. She's actually the lead rapper and lead vocal but doesn't rap much these days. The more you dive in you'll spot a lot of her raps in their earlier work with Moonbyul. She has a pretty unique rap flow as well.

Their are two must see mamamoo videos, one is their killing voice on dingo and the other the immortal songs medley. They always sing live, because they are really bad at lip syncing and sound better live. If you love Moonbyuls rapping wait until you hear her sing and learn about her personality.

Mamamoo truly are some of the most talented vocalists in the industry! There isn't a bad song in their discography. Songs are uplifting bops! I recommend Hwasa's solo mvs "Twit", "Maria" and "I'm a B". All fantastic mvs and amazing songs. Also Solar's solo "Honey" is fantastic. Literally everything they do is great! Have fun!!
I suggest you check their album : I say Mamamoo : The best, it contains new versions of their songs, there's extended versions of some songs, orchestra versions, rock versions and so on... They did this with all of their title tracks, there's also b-sides and added songs ! This album is the album of the century, honestly ! See, Illella wasn't my favorite comeback, but dude AYA SLAPPED so hard. So did Wind Flower, and Hip. MAMAMOO aren't a girl group, they are a WOMAN group and they address so many different beauty standards in the industry. All 4 girls are all rounders, and each with successful solo careers.
Yess they sing %100 live. (Even the adlibs) they tried to lypsync once but it went so wrong.. They messed up (missed their parts, forgot to lypsnc) So many years past after that lypsnc live but stil the fans and the members make fun of it and find it easier to sing live than lypsnc 😂
ILLELA is their latest song as a group. you should check their solos from the first one to the latest ones. Also, they have a world tour( USA at this moment) and it's different when they do it live! I can attest to that.
Mamamoo is definitely a group of 4 of the best vocalists and performers ever to live. they have 300+ songs if you deep dive them their music. The sound so good live, you cant really tell the difference with recorded, they sound exactly the same. The official subgroup is Mamamoo+ which is just Solar and Moonbyul(power belter and rapper) the unofficial subgroups are angel line and the rapper line, really any pair of them. They do a lock of crack songs, like 1 CM and one of the best live vocal example is them singing a Pikachu song dressed as Pokemon. They are performers, live they do comedy skits and more during their typical 3 or 4 hour concerts and yeah 4 hour concerts they sound that good at the end of it. I am deep into the Solar system for my bias but really all moomoos love all 4 of them. I have Wheein, Hwasa and Moonbyul all over my play list as much as Solar, They all have very good Solo albums and 3 of them have youtube channels. Solar's Solarsido being the oldest one and has a lot of content. Acapellas, michael jackson and frankie valli covers, even an acapella of Imagine Dragons Believer. Best from her is that year end karaoke. 25 songs a year come out between albums, solos, collabs, OSTs, covers and more. Best recent live is from Hwasa Show Mamamoo Live Collection, which is 1llella live, medleys of songs, solos and the ballad paint me, one of their best. They can all rap, sing, dance, joke, interview, do comedy, and in nearly every genre. The rapper moonbyul is the most credited female lyricist in korea and they all can write songs, music and can play musical instruments. Best part if you watch their TV shows, youtubes and etc, these 4 are relatively normal people.

So I've seen a lot of comments recommending you songs, and yes you still have a lot to watch, but I just wanted to say that Mamamoo are always on crack and they also have some fun songs: 1. Um oh ah yeah - it's a song about falling in love with a boy... who turns out to be a girl. (In this video Moonbyul, Hwasa and Wheein are dressed as boys! And Solar falls in love with Moonbyul) The live stages for this are so fun since they add different adlibs for every stage. 2. Taller than you (or 1cm) - in this song they are dissing each other's heights. If you check their profiles you'll see that all of them ar 1cm apart haha. So they're arguing who's the tallest. The live performances for this are HILARIOUS. (from their concerts) 3. Aze Gag - this one may be harder to understand since it's nothing but korean dad jokes. Just dad jokes. 4. Sleep in the car - It's a diss track complaining about having to sleep in the car with all their makeup still on and how this is damaging their skin. This actually originated from a conversation between Solar and Wheein who were complaining that they're always filming until late. It sadly doesn't have a mv but it has a live performance. 5. Waggy - This is just about puppies lol. Puppy love. The live performances are again hilarious. They dress up differently for every one (one time they were puppies, then kitties and even a hamburger, fries, ketchup and coke combo lol) 6. Zzzz - it's about how they're bored. just that. 7. You're the best - the live stages for this are hilarious too. In case you didn't get the memo, they're always hilarious! If you want to watch a video about what I just said, Purple Hawke (some people recommended the introduction guide from this channel) also has a video about Mamamoo's history of crack songs! It's really fun to watch. That being said, I also want to recommend Where are we now, because it's the song that showcases their vocals the best. Also fun fact, in case you didn't know, Mamamoo participated in the show Queendom alongside (G)I-dle (I remember you said you really like Idle). There are some amazing stages for both of the groups there.

I heard you said "every time", well yes, I've seen you fall under MoonStar spell, Mamamoo's rapper is known as Korean Girl Crush.., besides this, she is the most credited female rapper & songwriter in Korea, but all of them are accomplished songwriters. Since they can sing almost anything, they've been experimenting with different musical styles. They are not the typical micromanaged kpop group, so expect the unexpected & you must react to their live performances & enjoy the ride!

They all are vocalists, but since the other three are on another level Moonbyul had to start as a rapper. But she just crashed a singing competition for female rappers and could be at least main vocalist in some other gg.
Hwasa rapped more in their older songs. Wheein can rap, too, but does it mostly do have fun. And don't get me started on Solar. She LOVES rapping, but nobody lets her. But they opened this can of worms with her last solo where she has a rapping part, and now... only the future will tell. She wanted to be in a musical for years and last year she got the lead in Mata Hari. If this lady wants something she does it.
For guides you can't go wrong with the Purple Hawke one. And I've seen a recent one a few month ago that was good, too, but I don't remember the creator... 😞

Love that you're diving into Mamamoo. Moonbyul is the main rapper and you notice her rapping in pretty much every song however, Noticed you commented on Hwasa rapping in Hip. She's actually the lead rapper and lead vocal but doesn't rap much these days. The more you dive in you'll spot a lot of her raps in their earlier work with Moonbyul. She has a pretty unique rap flow as well.

They always sing live, because they are really bad at lip syncing and sound better live.

Mamamoo truly are some of the most talented vocalists in the industry! There isn't a bad song in their discography. Songs are uplifting bops! I recommend Hwasa's solo mvs "Twit", "Maria" and "I'm a B". All fantastic mvs and amazing songs. Also Solar's solo "Honey" is fantastic. Literally everything they do is great! Have fun!!

See, Illella wasn't my favorite comeback, but dude AYA SLAPPED so hard. So did Wind Flower, and Hip. MAMAMOO aren't a girl group, they are a WOMAN group and they address so many different beauty standards in the industry. All 4 girls are all rounders, and each with successful solo careers.

Yess they sing %100 live. (Even the adlibs) they tried to lypsync once but it went so wrong.. They messed up (missed their parts, forgot to lypsnc) So many years past after that lypsnc live but stil the fans and the members make fun of it and find it easier to sing live than lypsnc 😂

Mamamoo is definitely a group of 4 of the best vocalists and performers ever to live. they have 300+ songs if you deep dive them their music. The sound so good live, you cant really tell the difference with recorded, they sound exactly the same. The official subgroup is Mamamoo+ which is just Solar and Moonbyul(power belter and rapper) the unofficial subgroups are angel line and the rapper line, really any pair of them. They do a lock of crack songs, like 1 CM and one of the best live vocal example is them singing a Pikachu song dressed as Pokemon. They are performers, live they do comedy skits and more during their typical 3 or 4 hour concerts and yeah 4 hour concerts they sound that good at the end of it. I am deep into the Solar system for my bias but really all moomoos love all 4 of them. I have Wheein, Hwasa and Moonbyul all over my play list as much as Solar, They all have very good Solo albums and 3 of them have youtube channels. Solar's Solarsido being the oldest one and has a lot of content. Acapellas, michael jackson and frankie valli covers, even an acapella of Imagine Dragons Believer. Best from her is that year end karaoke. 25 songs a year come out between albums, solos, collabs, OSTs, covers and more. Best recent live is from Hwasa Show Mamamoo Live Collection, which is 1llella live, medleys of songs, solos and the ballad paint me, one of their best. They can all rap, sing, dance, joke, interview, do comedy, and in nearly every genre. The rapper moonbyul is the most credited female lyricist in korea and they all can write songs, music and can play musical instruments. Best part if you watch their TV shows, youtubes and etc, these 4 are relatively normal people.
Oh you bet I'm doing a deep dive of them! TBH it's probably going to be a two month project due to the amount of content they have to explore and I can not wait!!!
Hello again! So I've seen a lot of comments recommending you songs, and yes you still have a lot to watch, but I just wanted to say that Mamamoo are always on crack and they also have some fun songs:
1. Um oh ah yeah - it's a song about falling in love with a boy... who turns out to be a girl. (In this video Moonbyul, Hwasa and Wheein are dressed as boys! And Solar falls in love with Moonbyul) The live stages for this are so fun since they add different adlibs for every stage.
2. Taller than you (or 1cm) - in this song they are dissing each other's heights. If you check their profiles you'll see that all of them ar 1cm apart haha. So they're arguing who's the tallest. The live performances for this are HILARIOUS. (from their concerts)
3. Aze Gag - this one may be harder to understand since it's nothing but korean dad jokes. Just dad jokes.
4. Sleep in the car - It's a diss track complaining about having to sleep in the car with all their makeup still on and how this is damaging their skin. This actually originated from a conversation between Solar and Wheein who were complaining that they're always filming until late. It sadly doesn't have a mv but it has a live performance.
5. Waggy - This is just about puppies lol. Puppy love. The live performances are again hilarious. They dress up differently for every one (one time they were puppies, then kitties and even a hamburger, fries, ketchup and coke combo lol)
6. Zzzz - it's about how they're bored. just that.
7. You're the best - the live stages for this are hilarious too.
In case you didn't get the memo, they're always hilarious! If you want to watch a video about what I just said, Purple Hawke (some people recommended the introduction guide from this channel) also has a video about Mamamoo's history of crack songs! It's really fun to watch.
That being said, I also want to recommend Where are we now, because it's the song that showcases their vocals the best.
Also fun fact, in case you didn't know, Mamamoo participated in the show Queendom alongside (G)I-dle (I remember you said you really like Idle). There are some amazing stages for both of the groups there.
