      It's a blunder because it loses the queen and bishop in 2 turns, after the knight forks the king check, pawn has to take knight, rook takes queen check, king has to move forward, rook takes bishop, knight is pinned. But if he doesn't enter that variation, the video shouldn't end.

    • @ade8890
      @ade8890 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      At best they blunder an entire took (king shouldnt take back).
      If king does take back, that blunders everything (queen and bishop fall, so you get queen + bishop + rook for your bishop and knight).
      So yeah no matter what it's a blunder... Either he's down by 5, or he's down by 11 lol.

    Interesting discussions on this video. While some have said the rook move that ends the video isn't a blunder of the rook but a sacrifice for an exchange, others have pointed out that following through on that exchange exposes a variation in which White takes Black's queen and maybe takes even more. Of course, Simp established early in the video that he can protect the video by declining to enter advantageous variations, so maybe the exchange of rook for bishop could have been considered fine and continued the challenge.

  • @medexamtoolscom
    @medexamtoolscom 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    A number of observations for this one..... you did not walk into this one nearly prepared and severely underestimated the difficulty of this one. What you needed to do, before doing anything else, was set up a position with your queen so that you could blunder it on command, but only in a way that someone who was actually good would be able to exploit, so that you could move your queen into "danger" and have it continually survive each time. You really failed the challenge as soon as he blunders a rook at 0:42 for the knight but you refused to go through with it. And also, the final move, at that point he's so many points ahead, I am not sure you can actually call that a blunder since it would be exchanging his rook for your bishop. He's up a queen against a piece at that point, so trading a rook for a piece at that point isn't a blunder, it's at worst a "mistake" if not an "inaccuracy". In my opinion at least, I don't know about the stockfish analyzer. But if you kept going after not blundering your queen after 0:42, you should have kept going after being offered a rook for a bishop, that may have even been deliberate in which case it definitely wasn't a blunder.

    • @medexamtoolscom
      @medexamtoolscom 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah if you didn't end the video at 0:42 for your refusal to take the initiative when he blundered his rook for a knight, then you definitely shouldn't have done it when the other person basically did the same thing but while he was up a queen. They are the exact same level of exchange, it's certainly not more of a blunder when he does it while up a queen.

    • @medexamtoolscom
      @medexamtoolscom 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Also at 3:28 by moving the pawn forward, he also blundered in a way you didn't exploit, because if you had responded to it with bishop C4-D5 you would have gotten his rook so that was an unseen blunder. Really, the moment you lose your queen early in the game you have already lost the challenge, you need to set up the configuration where you blunder your queen but only if he sees it and only someone good would see it.

    In another comment thread started by Sri Nugroho Prahastono, Brickhouse333 explained that this rook move offers the exchange (bishop-takes-rook-f8, king-takes-bishop-f8) but that leads to a variation in which Black's queen and, likely, other pieces, are lost.
    After the king takes the bishop in exchange, White can then play knight-e6 forking Black's queen and king. Black has a pawn there but taking the knight would expose the queen to capture by White's rook which simultaneously checks Black's king and then earns a free bishop. Instead of responding to the fork by taking knight with pawn, then, Black might be better off moving the king back to e8, losing the queen to the knight, and taking the knight with the king, but that puts white up a lot of material, too. Of course, White could decline to move his knight into the fork to save the video, but I'm still curious to explore this.
    Instead of taking back with the king, Black could respond to bishop-takes-rook-f8 with something like queen-h4-check but that doesn't seem to lead anywhere productive for Black, either.
    What does White play if, instead of taking the exchange, Black responds to bishop-takes-rook-f8 with queen-b6, pinning the knight? I'm thinking maybe White plays bishop-takes-pawn-g7, Black develops knight-c6 forking White's knight and pawn, then, I don't know what from White? If taking the pawn is a bad response to queen-b6, what is White's best line of play?

    Chess, but your direction is random between North, south, east and west. (Day 11)
    Knight, Bishop and other diagonal move also count as 2 direction

    It's not a blunder if the opponent doesn't know which piece is the strongest. So if you exchange bishop for rook it's still good xD

    It's not a blunder, it might be one of the good moves as it atleast stops the knight to reach the king

    Wait, so after explaining that it isn't blundering a piece if White doesn't take advantage of it, Black moves a pawn en prise and Simp declares he blundered it before he captures it...

    100 rated chess, but you can only capture like to like. (Only cap bishops with bishops, knights with knights, etc. Check/mate is not a cap)
