Masterclass shot maker. Never again will. Women's Tennis have such tennis brilliance. Hingis and her mother smiles because they both know the type of game Hingis has developed is PERFECT against a player like Conchita - just look at their H2H.
She did reach two other Slam finals aside from winning Wimbledon and she won over 30 titles. She was always behind the likes of Graf, Seles, and Sanchez-Vicario, but she was extremely talented with how she manipulates the ball. Plus, you can't ignore her consistency. Didn't reach number one but she's got more impressive credentials than recent number ones.
It’s always a delight to see Martina Hingis play, such superb racket skills, if only she was able to evolve to have weapons like a powerful forehand or backhand she couldve added a few more slams under her belt, it was during her generation that women’s tennis started transitioning from pure smart play to power tennis.
@@aaron1983There is no such thing as a smart power game. There is just smart tennis, which involves the ability to blast the ball as well as take the pace off it, hit volleys, lobs and slices - all of which are non power shots.
In fact, she did won not a feew, but 5 Fed Cups, during the time she was paying with Arantxa Sánchez Vicario. It was a mark that not many national teams could say they have. Spain was cleary the most powerfull national team in the 90's.
Thanks for your videos, such a joy to watch. If you ever have the time, consider making a compilation video of Martina's best points throughout her career - that would be the icing on the cake. Thanks again!
Pandemonium, are you serious? That's a cliche question and quite answered. Conchita's game was dangerous! It was complete, all-court, with a Spanish clay foundation. She was a slicer like Steffi, but had a nice one-handed topspin backhand when she wanted to. She was also solid at net. A heavy and severe topspin forehand, which pushed opponents back or side to side. When she wanted to, she could belt that forehand as good as anyone. And remember, she is from the generation of the peak of.....

Yes it was a lucky win in 1994. But she is one of the best female tennis player of the 90´s. She hadn´t got enough mental powers to gain a big victory against Graf and Seles, but she was still successful.

Of course, Martínez had weapons, and a lot of. If you don't believe it, you could ask Martina Hingis about it and how she lost against Martínez in the Final of Berlín, 2000, 7/5 6/4, when Hingis was the first one and Martínez the third one. I highly recommend you to watch the video (Conchita Martinez versus Martina Hingis (5 of 5)) and check if Martínez had weapons or didn't.
steffi has the serve and inside out forehand Monica two handed ground strokes they are fa s t and sharp. williams has the serve reach and hard groundstrokes. its not their weapons its their mind that made a champion to this day.
in tennis you just have to be mentally tough it doesn't matter how hard you hit the ball. its how you handle the game on a time of pressure. novotna has every weapon to win but she lack the nerve to win which totally played a big role in winning more grandslams. like wise with sabatini she choked alot in her matches and also made her retire from, tennis because she was loosing matches to,a lot unseeded players
I think that Conchita was extremely lucky to win Wimbledon in '94... Steffi lost in the first round, Martina was way past her prime, and in the semis she barely beat McNeil, 10-8 in the third. Definitely a one-Slam wonder. IMO
Jens Schmidt no, she wouldn’t. She’d drive players nuts. Hingis didn’t play with pace so you don’t see how well conchita could actually play against pace. Watch her matches against Davenport or Pierce. She’d be fine, maybe not #2 like she was. Don’t get me wrong, I loathed watching Martinez play, but she was brilliant, and she’d handle the pace fine.

Hingis ended my life with that jawdropping backhand drive volley. How managed to control the ball after letting it drop so low was amazing.
so true

I'm still waiting for the evolution of the power game to the smart power game. its almost there though now that Serena steroids is gone.

conchita was such a tricky player

Bravo Conchita,, Buen Partido pero te has encontrado con una Hingis en su Mejor momento.,.¡¡¡
martina is the best, we love you martina
Spin is a weapon. She tried to produce different kinds of spin to destroy her opponents rhythm.
only problem was Hingis had no problem with loopy balls!
@@aaron1983 right exactly. Monica Seles used to eat that loopy spin better than anyone. But Hingis did a fine job here too.

Con Hingis tienes que ser más Agresiva, no 🚫❌te puedes quedar atrás.
Conchita has such a weird serve
Martinez's problem was the didn't have a serve.
and she has one of the lowest service tosses ever! And she won a few Fed Cups.

smart!!
This match between these two is so much more interesting than their dull as dirt final in '98... that was boring as hell≥
Sue won only One grandSlam, against a tenist Giant
Wow conchita
Didn't realise how bad her serve was
lacheyrulez she lost 6 0 3 1 to hantoukova
