I have short hair, without bangs. All of them still look okay if you just drape the extra hair to the side, or include it with the hair style.

I've had a hair disaster that made me chop all my hair off to a short bob. I was so upset about how little I can do with it, especially since I had long hair most of my life. you can definitely do it with a flat iron or leaving it braided overnight then taking it out in the morning!
You can try the "heatless sock method" it turned out SOO WELL
