    What a fantastic exchange!
Both of your channels are extremely inspiring to me, it's been a while since I've listened to a conversation so intently.
As an ex-nihilist revitalized by mysticism, I have quite a negative bias towards materialistic worldviews. As such, it is one hell of a pleasure to see Dr Justin Sledge incarnate a manifestation of materialism so open-minded and rich in ideas.

I'm with Justin on the usefulness of psychedelics.
The intense experiences of psychedelics did have me asking existential questions and led me eventually to Buddhism.
Which ironically is usually doctrinal about not using drugs.
There are some skills you can develop through esoteric meditation practice that could appear to be spiritual powers.
But I think these are just nascent abilities of our organism. Similar to how a flock of birds can turn on dime.

I appreciate Sledge's sober analysis of the esoteric. It's a good grounding energy on the otherwise very wild ride. Nice to hear him explicitly state that he's excited about the whole thing, if only because there's a lot to feel excited by. Lest one get the impression that he's purely a skeptic. Rather, he seems to keep seekers' feet to the fire of documented esoteric recorded history. Valuable practice. Thanks again for these talks. xo

Tickling the algorithm from this excellent interview with the badass esoteric scholar, Dr Justin Sledge, and also reacquainting with visionary artists and psychedelic expertise from a little while back now on your channel! Great teaser intro! And fun channel name! Feeling psychedelic milieu rising once again from my sideline perspective!

I agree, so many people in the Portland area ( I'm just north of there) are decked out in alchemical and witchcraft symbolism, but no one actually studies it or has a passion for the scholarly side of it.
The few acquaintances I have that do take it somewhat seriously are rosicrucians and that's just Christian propaganda with an occult veneer 😅

Dr Sledge is an estoteric G 👌
Humor is totally something that is lost in translation in so many texts. It wasn't until I came across Lon Milo Duquette that it really dawned on me how much humor and ribbing of the reader was going on. It totally changed how I viewed what I was reading. Really God would have to have a sense of humor to construct such a mind bending, twisted, and hilarious real life drama. I would have to add to what Justin said, a God that can not only outsmart be, but also be a bigger smart ass than me 😄

Interesting discussion, I cant say I fully agree with some of his materialist perspectives, but its refreshing to see him discuss it in a nuanced fashion, especially that he allows for ever more discovery, so its not a dogmatic stance. While I agree that consciousness (at least as we conceive it from our individuated/collective selves) is somewhat easy to dismiss as predominantly illusory, I hope for him that he will discover the infinite Mind that permeates everything.
This frequency domain may have all its apparent attributes, but our general perceptions of it is not the All & everything, perhaps unless we consider holo-fractal aspects we barely grok, much less provably understand. IMHO, from my discoveries & travels, I see the overarching truth is every bit as wondrous & infinite (Nothingness is an Impossibility), as its hidden nature is useful for adventuring in infinitely generative novelty. 💚💚💚

This reminds me of my observations of my chickens. Chickens only really believe what they see and quickly forget about things they can’t see anymore. Even fences are challenging for a chicken who sees food on the other side of the fence but can’t understand why they can see something and not just walk forward towards what they want. Materialism is just a more complicated chicken religion.

One of my first memories was sitting on my mother's lap while she turned the pages of a mail order Christmas catalog. She got to the candy pages, and while I knew I was looking at pictures, I suddenly began grabbing at the candy and crying because I couldn't get it. It was like I reverted to an earlier stage.

@THIRD EYE DROPS Hey man have you ever come across the concept of the *Inverted Tree* ? I had an intense dream sometime back which sent me down somewhat of a rabbit hole, I found references to kabbalistic and vedic alchemy, but not much in regards to primary sources. Just thought I'd ask since you're deep into this stuff.

@@THIRDEYEDROPS hearing an "esotericist" saying that reality is probably made of a kind of esotic matter is hilarious. It just reminds me one of Bernardo Kastrup interviews with Jeffrey Mishlove where he says that materialists will just redifine over and over again what matter is and thereby will always be right in their belief about reality being made of matter. Bernardo was right about that. Moreover the ESOTERICA guy says that he doesn't know how we can actually understand reality......if he has studied esotericism he should know that man is microcosm and the universe is macrocosm so how can he say at all that it is strange for man to understand reality? To me it seems the guy is just confused or probably doesn't understand philosophy. I think overall that he is just another guy caught up in the modern materialistic paradigm to the point that he almost unconsciously equates materialism with science and science with ultimate reality. Another thing that he said that I strongly disagreed with was that consciousness is an illusion but i think he wanted to use the word epiphenomenon. Anyway i want to leave with a quote of Agrippa that Schopenhauer quotes in his magnus opus "the world as will and representation": He dwells in us, not in the nether world, not in the starry heavens. the spirit living within us fashions all this.

He groom3d a ment4llyill friend into unaliving his mom and exgf before committing a sch00lsh00ting. He took the dairy/manifest0 of said friend and tried to skip country without notifying the authorities of his friends plans. The judge of this case said sludge knows he belongs behind bars but narrowly escaped it cos of technicalities, not lack of complicity. I get youre excited to have a bigger youtuber on here to help your channel grow, but please keep this in mind in future
