There’s a lot of conversation that lingers with the Polaroid lab whether or not it takes away the “true” process and life of instant film by bridging instant photography and the digital world together. That may be true to others, but who’s to say there’s a right or wrong way to shoot film? Film is film, it comes in many formats, colors, and shapes. It’s always changing as time moves on and it’s never the same. We are able to take film and do what we want with it, whether we’re shooting through a modded camera, or shooting with cameras new and old. But one thing for sure is, there’s no right way to shoot it. I think the Polaroid Lab is still very much an instant way to shoot photos, there’s still a process to it, you’re still creating a piece of art, and it’s another way for us to explore and see how much film can evolve. It’s what’s helping me create these beautiful mosaics of my portraits, it’s what’s keeping my creativity going as an Artist. While the Lab brings all this into conversation, you shouldn’t let other people’s perceptions of film control your own, shoot film the way you want. Shoot film for you. Now go out and make some art!!!

▶︎ About Me: Follow me, Derrell Lopez, as I and my Polaroid cameras go on an adventure through life. I have been shooting with Polaroid for years and I want to share all of it with you and show you what I see through my lens. I will try and travel places here and there all while filming it and showing you a glimpse of my personal life and what I do with a Polaroid in my hand. Some of those include, photoshoots, photo walks, traveling, and capturing meaningful memories in a white frame. I'm happy to share with all of you the steps I take as I go through the perplexing paths of what we call life and the memories I make along the way.

got one second hand otw. this feature sold me. the idea of turning your pics onto polaroid formula film just didn't speak to me considering the cost of a pack of film. the idea of making full blown mosaics like this is something I think that should be advertised by them better. I only see this stuff with creators like you! great work! I subbed.

Do you plan on doing videos related to 35mm photography, I would like to see that. However if you are planning to keep the channel dedicated to instant photography, I would totally get it :D

It does but I took it off in this video just so the images being printed on the film would be clear and sharp.
