I'm from the USA, and I watched Boys Over Flowers a few weeks after it ended it run in Korea, the internet site I watched it on doesn't exist anymore. Anyway this was back around 2009.
Prior to that, I had watched some Kdrama, such as Jumong (2006) and had seen clips of Kvariety shows like X man and Golden Bell on TH-cam - so I knew about Turbo, (Kim Jong Kook, and a few other groups).
But it was Boys Over Flowers that finally hooked me onto Kpop. I became a fan of SS501 and also of another 'group just starting out' one who turned into the Kings of Kpop...Big Bang. :D
Back then, not too many 'western fans' around....the genre has sure grown since back then. And, I think Boys Over Flowers had a lot to do with it. It really appealed to 'foreign fans'.

The drama that has started everyones kdrama life. Still remains my no.1 k-drama of all time. I was introduced to ss501 and shinee through this, wah life became better after BOF

I know went through some scandals but i think it's really disrespectful.
The main reason is the Knetizens, public & media are too full of hypocrisy ~
Too judgmental with a holier-than-thou attitude, preferring to condemn their artists who have been proven to be the victims rather than the culprits.
In the case of Kim Hyun Joong, they continue to blacklist him even though he's been cleared of all charges by 4 different courts.
That nasty Choi, the ex-gf, is rarely mentioned as being the real criminal instead the public is always reminded of KHJ's troubled past.
They never really emphasised the fact of his innocence which contributed to the public's ambivalence towards him.

My family really liked this version. They all watched it together. Whereas I was a fan of the original so it was a bit hard to watch a remake.
Boys over flowers opened doors for K-pop, K-Drama into my life. I was in the 11th standard and boy did I fall in love with Goo Jun Pyo..lol. I even forgot to look at real life boys back then..😂😂 I've watched it 13 times..lol Ahhh..this video was such a good throwback

Bof is my first entry to Kpop actually, thats how I eventually fell in love with JJong and 5HINee.
Stand By Me is still my fav and all 5HINee songs too. Something unique about their musics all time I hear, never was I bored.💎💮☺🎵❤🤗

I really like boys over flowers still to this day. I used to watch my favorite scenes over and over again. There are a lot of cringier scenes in it like the part goo junpyo gets beaten up to save Jandi who was kidnapped by his mother's goons

I just rewatched in recently and even though it's cheesy I still love it.
I still remember I was 13yo and watched BOF in 2010 (my first kdrama ever) by DVD player at my grandparents house. I watched from the 9pm until the tomorrow morning 😂 I hate to stay in curiosity.
That time i don't even know about Korea Entertainment. As I remember, my aunty (30's) introduced me to the world of Kdrama. Then, that's a start of my journey to discover Korea Entertainment and hooked with Lee Min Ho until today and he stay as my 1st korean celebrities in my heart by watching all his drama/movie ✨
Besides BOF drama and Lee Min Ho, I believe Super Junior also at that time open the gate of Korean Enter. to other countries including Malaysia. Thanks to my aunty ❤
Hace cuatros meses mire está serie me encantó escuchar los sobre todos los temas Ss501 y así también descubrí a Kim Hyun Joong hoy son fans de ambos me gustó el drama porque el papel protagónico no lo tiene Jumpyo si no Ji Hoo su historia es mas potente. PD una sugerencia pongan subtítulos en español porque si no se han enterado en Latinoamérica también es famosa está serie gracias
