Now it may be my age, but The Third Doctor Adventures is without doubt the strongest range from Big Finish. I think that it benefits from being very era led, and that it has three very distinct eras with Liz, Jo and Sarah. Whilst I have absolutely no proof, I've often thought that the first boxset with it's narration was originally planned as part of The Early Adventures range (and it would fit perfectly within that range as an experiment to expand beyond the First and Second Doctors). I am thankful that we have 6 boxsets with Jo Grant, and fully understand that Katy feels she can no longer achieve Jo's high voice so we got "The Return of Jo Jones", but I struggled with the 2 part stories as they are totally alien to the Pertwee era. Come to think of it 4 Part stories weren't the norm either - with only 8?/9? over the 5 years. Both Daisy and Sadie have done a wonderful job in recreating their late mothers role of Liz and Sarah, and Tim shines as this Third Doctor. Without recasts this is a golden era that would sadly be missing from the Big Finish catalogue. Long may it continue.
I really loved Volume 4, mostly because I love the Cybermen and the Monk, so I have to say that using known Monsters to get new listeners absolutely worked for me. The best story so far is definitely The Annihilators, but I think it's time for more connected stories with maybe a new companion or something, but I always like feeling like there is a bigger purpose for a set, which is why the current Liv/Helen or Charley/Audacity sets don't really excite me, I love it when these sets build towards something (and Who knows, maybe the Liv/Helen sets are secretly building something, but I would feel more invested if I knew)
I am dress up as the third doctor this Halloween 🎃 as I do love the big finish range of the third doctor and my family love the audios too as they remember the era so well 🎉🎉🎉
While it took me a while to adjust to the new cast, I feel like part of the reason the recast Doctors are currently BFs strongest material is because they can explore untapped potential, compared to 6-9 which are starting to feel somewhat tired.
I just started watching through the 3rd Doctor Era for the first time, and I also just discovered Big Finish. I finished his first season and am in the middle of his second season and I am wondering which 3rd Doctor Audio stories might fit best between the TV stories I am watching. Has someone done a timeline of audio adventures and where they potentially fit within the series?
If you search Third Doctor Timeline on Google, it should give you Tardis Fandom which is a comprehensive guide on how to watch/read/listen to all the Third Doctor stories in order. It’s what I’ve been using and it works really well 👍
I'd love a proper Delgado Master story, and Culshaw's Delgado is definitely up to it. 👍
I really went them to do a Delgado Master story

I do miss the 2 four parter stories format.

Sounds nothing like Pertwee just grates on me!
