Pierre, you are such a FANTASTIC teacher. I never got to take but one year of piano lessons at age 9 in 1974 because we moved out to rural srea but I dod play flute and had 2 years of music theory. While I can read notes, it would tale me forever to learn that way. But your combination of chords, inversions and just teaching how to play the piano part like the recorded version is a perfect balance for so many of us who plsy baded on chord structure but lack the skills to figure out the parts all by ourself. You are a blessing for me. The onmy TH-cam teavher who displays the needed chords, notes and instruction for so many of us who are desperately want to learn these songs as older adults.
that’s just brilliant !! I’m a big BIG fan of Toto and your transcription is just perfect, with every single details David Paich is playing on real tune. Thanks so much ❤
“Rosanna” was not only my first Toto song. It was also the first time I recall catching many elements in pop music that are taken for granted in one place. They include the different vocal ranges & harmonic spread, the sounds of piano, organ and synthesizer, hard rock lead guitar, the brass arrangement and that funky backbeat. I probably caught samples of each thing someplace else before hearing *Toto IV,* but that was the first place where it was all ganged together for my ears.
Dear Pierre, I love your tutorials. Thank you. Request: can you please do a tutorial on how to play a short version of Shine on you crazy diamond by Pink Floyd?
Please...please do the piano jam session..I just love that part. Appreciate what you are doing. Future request>> Lady by Styx..that piano part is so unique and pretty!!
This is the best Master Class on TH-cam! Yes Pierre please do the solos, verses & chorus for Rosanna. I don't play piano, I play a Lead Tenor steelpan with 3 mallets. I use your tutorials for the piano and it works on my steelpan. I learned Africa by ToTo and it's now one of my fav go to songs. I'm working on "That's just the way it is" I cannot thank u enough man❤much appreciated. Thanks you
Pierre my friend, you made my day!!! After the wonderful "Against All Odds" tutorial (I learned it in 3 days!), you come with this true wonder!!! I hope one day to see the beautiful "Won’t Hold You Back" here on the channel (my favorite and that of the great Rick Beato). Thank you very much, and every week, your channel is a must-see for this amateur pianist and keyboardist here! Cheers from your fan and admirer here in Brazil!!! 🤝🙏🙂🇧🇷🎹
I really like the fact that you're doing arrangements of the accompament parts, like on the actual recordings! I've been looking for this for a long time.
Mr Pierre Piscitelli youre a wonderful pianist. The sound of the chords you play are amazing. Would it be a bad idea to select your next tutorial song by the sound of the chords? The chords of Rosanna dont need a rock group, or extra musicians, they stand up by themselves. Congratulations.
Hell yes we want the solo!!! You're doing the Lord's work Pierre! Fun song to play. Can you give us some ending options too with the G vamp jam. Our band is adding this one and I'm running bass with left hand and piano parts with right.
Another great explanations - thx so much! Not sure if I missed it in the video - for the intro are you on and off the sustain pedal the whole time, or not at all?
Hey man, love your channel! You’ve had a ton of great uploads recently. I can’t find “you belong to me” by the doobies anywhere and was hoping you may do a video on how to play that? That would be great! Thank you!
Yay, that was amazing more more more, please the whole song. So glad you tube pushed your video to me will definitely subscribe to your channel, I tried expensive apps (you know which one) couldn’t get on with it your video is so much more easy to understand & informative & allows me to learn a section at my own pace, Bravo 👏🏻👍🏻
Hi Pierre Love your channel, love the tutorials If I was to request a tutorial it would be with the song Over My Head (Cable Car) By the Fray The song has a brilliant running hook throughout Greetings from New Zealand
This is precicely why I find things so confusing. If in the key of C which I believe has no sharps / flats - how come you are playing those notes. Obviously I'm missing something basic.
You are spot-on. In the key of C, there are no sharps or flats in the scale. C, D, E, F, G, A and B are the diatonic, or "legal" notes that belong in the key of C. However, that doesn't mean I am not allowed to play an F#, Bb or whatever I want! We would just have to denote an accidental (sharp or flat) sign wherever appropriate, to indicate that we want that particular note. That being said, our key center or home base can still be the key of C, and we can also change keys within a song, as is the case in "Rosanna." I did not select a key signature for this tutorial since it changes keys several times...it was easier to keep things open (key of C) and let the software show the accidentals wherever appropriate. I know that this response could never be as comprehensive as a proper music theory lesson, but hopefully I've given you some valuable insight. Remember that music is a language, and like learning a foreign language in school it takes years and lots of determination. You eventually reach a point of proficiency and general understanding, but you'll never know everything. I'm still learning on a daily basis! Thanks for watching!

Another great video. Thank you!
There is a video sunset sounds with Paich showing how he recorded it and then how Phillinganes played it, and then showed Paich a better fingering!
Yes, for "Africa" I believe? I've seen that video!
@@pierrejpiscitelli yes you’re right. Still good though!
More, please!
Another great explanations - thx so much! Not sure if I missed it in the video - for the intro are you on and off the sustain pedal the whole time, or not at all?
Yes I am always pedaling. Trust your ears- when things get blurry, lift and reset the pedal. It’s tricky. I could make a whole video on pedaling.
Please do the additional stuff. Great video.

Hi. Excellent. Are you pedalling the beginning of each bar? Or no pedal? Thanks.
Lot's of pedal, yes! Probably every time I do one of the five positions, I am lifting the pedal and setting it back down almost immediately.
