- She’s going….. going south! I’ve said farewell to Raleigh & headed further south to Charleston. So excited to start sharing Charleston vlogs, decor videos, and more!

If you're new here, hi! My name is Clara, I’m 24, & I just moved to Charleston from Raleigh and I work in marketing! I started filming my productive work vlogs on TikTok and now I’ve branched out to post longer content & postgrad vlogs on TH-cam. Follow along for daily motivation, daily vlogs, morning routines, and more productive days in my life!

It all seemed kind of rushed so maybe they just didn’t have time. That’s happened before with where my sister lives.

I grew up moving every 3 years and then post-grad moved every year. My biggest tip is labeling the boxes with the room it goes in & 1 out of X # of boxes. On your notes app, list what’s in the box or take a pic so it’s easy to scroll through when finding things. I also unpack cleaning supplies first then my bathroom. No matter the time that ensures I can go to sleep with necessities lol.
Great tips! I move often, too. However, I've never thought to number my boxes or take a pic.
Moving tip! U-Haul sells lightly used boxes (some are even brand new) that people donate and it’s soo much cheaper and better for the environment :) also great place to bring your own boxes after a move
Cat owner here - definitely see if you can find an enzyme cleaner. Most pet stores carry them specifically for urine odor control/elmination. They work great for carpet and hard surfaces as well. Just make sure you follow the instructions on the bottle and do not mix it with other cleaning solutions (let whatever other cleaner you may have used on the problem areas dry completely first before applying it otherwise it will not work properly as the enzymes will not be able to break down the urine remnants). Keep in mind some of them might have a strong smell at first but it will fade after a few hours. :)
Oh! And if you need to neutralize the smell of the cleaning solution, put some coffee beans either whole or ground in a small dish and place it in the general area of the smell. ❤

I second guessed myself so much on thinking Charleston because everyone else was guessing NYC! Can't wait to see how the new place will come together. I'm in the furnishing/decorating phase right now and it's so much fun but also exhausting and $$$$$.

Cat owner here! Definitely get some Natures Miracle enzymatic cleaner. Follow the instructions(you need to let it sit) and it will get the cat pee smell out. Also, you can get a black light to show you where the pee spots are.

I'm surprised yet not surprised you didn't move to NY. There is so much history in Charleston! It's been a while since I've been there but I hear it's beautiful. Rocco & Roxie stain & odor eliminator is great, it’s an enzyme cleaner which is what you’ll want for that cat urine smell! We used it on accidents when my puppy was little and it worked like a charm. 😊 also cracking up that you were scared upstairs at night, relatable

Congrats on your move and the new city. For the weird cat urine, not sure if the rooms may have had carpet, but I would maybe wipe down the walls with a brand new mop and your favorite disinfectant as the smell of urine tends to linger on the walls. My sister had a cat when I lived with her and when she moved out that was the only thing that worked, even though the cat never had an accident on the furniture or rugs that I could tell at least.
As far as painting to avoid the smell my mom would put vanilla extract to cut the of smell fumes. It won’t even mess with your paint color and I’ve put it in stark white paint and it works everytime. Can’t wait to see the new Charleston content!!!!

If you’re still looking for a wax place in Charleston (granted it’s been like 3 years since I’ve lived there 😅) but Waxed Salon (in West Ashley) was always my go to.
Clara! Don’t replace nice wood cutting boards! Oil and condition them monthly and they will be able to be passed to your children!

They absolutely should have cleaned. We were burned on our last rental (the older tenants were our friends, told us they were hiring cleaners, they ran out of time before they moved and never said anything so the day we were moving I had to spend 7 hours cleaning the house -- floors were the same level of dirt you're dealing with 😅). I will only ever hire cleaners moving forward and never trust that someone will take care of it! Sorry they didn't clean!!!

long story short you should leave a rental in the condition you found it in. with that, your rental should be clean and as advertised when you move in. if they didn’t thoroughly clean the apartment for your move in, you don’t thoroughly clean when you move out.
you should put the smaller couch in your bedroom!
My New Orleans rental was the same way… no matter how many times I mopped the bottom of my socks were still black 😅 it must be these old homes

For the cat urine smell, not to make something out of nothing, but in my old flat one day out of nowhere I started smelling whiffs of cat urine (and this was after living there for at least a few months). I found out mold can make a scent like that, so it may be worth checking it out? It could also be a case of male cat spraying, not just urine. I don't have any recommendation for that as I've only had female cats, but might be a good starting point for researching how to get rid of it.

I actually have been thinking about moving there for like the past five years, so I love watching all of you move there and explore the city.
Don't, I've lived here for 15years. Stay where you are, I'm planning on leaving next year after my lease ends. It isn't what you think it is by watching TH-cam and Instagram

If you smell a musty cat pee smell it means that the cat was marking its territory. The only thing you can do is to deep clean that area/room. I found using Mrs Meyers cleaner helped with cleaning it up and masking the smell once cleaned.
Your house reminds me of Sydney Adam’s old place before moving down to Florida 😅
My cat had some problems with accidents. Get an enzyme cleaner! Do not use regular cleaners on it. It can just make the smell worse. Amazon basics has an enzyme cleaner that saved my carpets

Should stay in Raleigh. I have lived in Charleston SC for 15years, It's gone downhill. It's not what you think it is. I'm leaving this place next year after my lease. It's over crowded, over developed, over priced, and it's just getting worse. It's not this small charming town anymore, it's not the same place it was.
