I don't own a element but I do have an Rsx type-s which share the same suspension layout with element, crv , ep3 and civic of the same years. Your video is the only video I could find that actually showed changing all the rear suspension bushings. I changed my front LCA bushings months ago and that job was a PAIN , got them out but was having trouble getting the front complaince one in so I had a local shop guy press them in. Bushing replacement are truly a pain in the ass 🙃 . Anyways thanks for the video. I definitely needed it to boost my confidence in tackling this job
Koodos to you! Thank you for sharing your experience on line. I concur with you that this job is extremely challenging. I need to do all this on my 2009 Element as all the bushings are shot back there too. There's a major squeak back there that just won't go away.
@@ByrdsRebuilds I'd love to know which single bushing is the culprit in the left rear end (for that anoying squeak). I tried silicone based WD-40 followed be watering down (soaking) each bushing with no joy (difference) whatsoever.

My 2004 Element needs rear bushings so bad. When I hit a bump I feel like I'm about to get thrown off the road. After watching you do that procedure I feel confident that I can handle the job. Not looking forward to it though. But I love my little car. And with only 200,000 miles it's got a lot of life left in it. T Y

Did 1 side front complete suspension doing the other side by memorial weekend. Took about 6 hrs Then doing my back. cleaning and painting everything in each corner plus anti-seize will make any future work much easier. Thank you. I think I am going to do the same as you did here. The back actually looks like a harder job. Will see..lol
@@ByrdsRebuilds I have been watching for a cpl years for a nice smaller press. I have seen some that do not take up too much room. but non has popped up i was willing to pay for yet. Really bearings used to be about all i have needed one for.
After replacing my trailing arm bushing, it sags a half inch less. To press on the metal ears, I used the ball joint press to get one installed then hammered the second one. I found the first one wouldn't go in straight until I used the ball joint press.
I saw another website where they used silicone paste before installing the bushings to keep the noise down as polyurethane tend to squeak. They do sell greaseable ones
This video helped me out so very very much I did my install exactly the way you did yours and it worked perfectly I even bought the press. Only issue I had after pushing all the new bushings in as that two of the bushings had smaller holes in my factory bolts one was the small bushing in the back of the trailing arm Bushing #3 and bushing #5
@@ByrdsRebuilds I have all of the bushings pushed in and ready to install it back together but then as I was putting it together bushing #5 lower front knuckle bushing has a smaller diameter hole then my factory bolt is too big also bushing #3 the small bushing on the trailing arm had a smaller hole as well. Did you have this problem with yours?

I rebuilt my suspension, except for the rear trailing arm bushings. They were still in decent shape. I did replace the rear lower control arms, used Aerogenics aluminum arms with the brace.
I’m 75% done with mine. The rear is the hardest!! The 2 bushings on the knuckle has been the most time consuming. I ended up grinding down the flange, cutting slits with my dremel and then finally pressed and hammered out. The heat hasn’t helped either!!
Thanks for this video, I am curious how the ride quality is with the poly bushings. I've heard the suspension is firmer compared to oem bushings. In the process of rebuilding my whole suspension and don't want to and up with a to stiff of a ride thanks 👍
hey you mentioned poly motor mounts/transmission mounts... im currently making some for my element with polyeurithane sealant. My element is manual so it will make a big difference. When they are done drying up in a few weeks and I install them i will let you know how it feels and if it was worth it (only cost me about $50 so far)
I watched your video step-by-step ordered all of the bushings for the rear of my 2007 Honda Element AWD and I just wanted to know does it still ride good or does it ride stiff? I also noticed with my kit that bushing #6 and bushing #5 pressed in perfectly fine but the center bolt hole was smaller than my original bolts did you have that issue with yours? I am so disappointed because I already have the bushings pressed in. I have to get smaller bolts to match the bushing holes?Mine is a 2007 I did not know why that was like that so I’m at a pause in my build. Your video inspired me to do mine now I’m wondering about the ride quality and those two bushing. I have it to where part and I have many pictures along the way of my build. it’s just those two bushing holes were smaller and I have found bolts to fit them but the ear holes will be bigger and that may create a problem. My CR-V that I bought used came with swap bar endlinks in polyurethane, at least it looks like it. The replacement rear upper control arms, the black ones which brand were those if I may ask? Cheers thanks for the video

I need to replace the right rear trailing arm bushings on my 2004 Element and was wondering if the 2004 CRV trailing arms fit. They cost half of what the Element ones cost. In a parts diagram they look identical. I called a junkyard and they said it would fit. Do you know if they interchangeable?
Did it handle the noise? I swapped out everything for front and rear suspension and still hear a tick, need to swap out the sway bar bushings I guess 🤷🏾♂️
I saw a comment that the ride was still good, my experience with POLY bushings in the past is a lot of NOISE, especially with motor and tranny mounts, and lets be honest this thing makes enough noise all on its own. are you noticing any excessive noise now that you've had them in for a bit? I just ordered HONDA bushings, but I may grab these for a future mod.

After installing the bushing with the “pineapple slice” does it go in a certain orientation? Can it move/rotate after beating in the studs to line up the bolt holes on the frame? More info plz

Yes it can be your control arm or your axle usually with the control arm he will only hear a bump or click but if you just regular driving and you hear it rattling or vibrating non-stop then it could be your axle
Hi. Nice to meet you. I have a honda element 2004 and i have a lot of problems suspension. The driving performance is so bad. Looks as a gelatine. The question is what díd you modify or upgrade for eliminate these problems?
A bit of advice I have tried shortcuts, and I have replace parts over and over because of it. If you’re going to start changing your suspension, which I recommend, make sure you buy quality parts either OEM or upgraded mods such as polyurethane bushings. You don’t want to waste your time as I have a cheap parts. Also, make sure you buy straight from the manufacture of the parts. And if you were wondering you got this you can do it.
SO I need to enter a warning for those of us with newer E's if you are ordering these bushings go to the ACTAUL Siberian Bushing site first and use your VIN to verify the correct parts there are a couple of the bushings they sell that are not intended for some models, mine is an '07 EX the ID of the sleeve was too small on 3 of the bushings as well as the big one with the ears supposedly isn't for my model, I would need to buy a complete new control arm with that bushing already installed. this of course I didn't figure out till I already had it installed, so I guess we shall see. BUT if you don't use your VIN it wont tell you they don't fit, so I had to drill the sleeves since I had no other options after destroying the old ones getting them out.
Next time you encounter a stubborn bolt like heat that sucker up then hit it with some Freon I bet you that sucker will come right out then just a little tip
That trailing arm is about $800, so bushing replacement is more economical. Also, the ball joint is part of the front knuckle from the factory and therefore no OEM replacement for the ball joint. I helped build Elements , but Come on Honda, really???
Yeah, the ball joint is a real pain… one great thing. If you’re buying a knuckle , you can buy a couple extra boot covers for the ball joint and if it ever tears are ripes you can just replace that. I don’t expect the dealership to tell you that, in fact, I was there that last week, and I couldn’t find one tech who has replace the boot?!?! although it is possible and they sell the boots for under $10, they would rather of up charge for numerous reasons in my opinion. So if you’re buying a knuckle, why don’t you do yourself a solid and get a extra boot

Great video. Taking bushings out reminds me of the front ball joint bushing removal needing to modify the C-clamp using a socket to fit, etc.
It's alot of work I need to invest in a press.
For sure some sort of pry bar/screw driver essential. Thanks again! Whole camber bolts and nuts looks a bit complex.

Nice I was thinking the same thing until the wheel alignment shop show how bad the bushings are.
Any issues with clearance on the brace? I bought the upper ones and am waiting on the pewter one’s lowers. Currently sold out.

Only potential problem is ground clearance, about one inch less.
@@craigwiess1656 thought so. I am running 235 70 16 to gain clearance and if I installed that I would lose that. Shame cause I love that brace.

The poly bushings aren't hard like energy suspension I am so happy I did it, before it felt like the car wanted to fall over..lol

I got that question alot I did a couple of updates in other videos. It's way better than OEM. It's not a ride a hard and no noise of any kind.
Maybe I missed it but how did you get that concentric bolt out? Pretty sure I'm going to need to do this soon.

On my element I had blue crv trailing arm I only replace them because I had picked up with a kit

If you are still at stock ride height, I would just replace them with OEM

Oh it was 316 000 miles when i bought it had to replace EVERY thing.
Can worn rear control arms or bushings in RWD or AWD vehicles cause vibration at highway speed ? Or is control arm noise always a rattle over bumps?
Yes you are right does not matter if RWD or AWD you worn out the bushings

I used the full Siberian Suspension kit also with new struts.

SO I need to enter a warning for those of us with newer E's if you are ordering these bushings go to the ACTAUL Siberian Bushing site first and use your VIN to verify the correct parts
there are a couple of the bushings they sell that are not intended for some models, mine is an '07 EX the ID of the sleeve was too small on 3 of the bushings as well as the big one with the ears supposedly isn't for my model, I would need to buy a complete new control arm with that bushing already installed. this of course I didn't figure out till I already had it installed, so I guess we shall see. BUT if you don't use your VIN it wont tell you they don't fit, so I had to drill the sleeves since I had no other options after destroying the old ones getting them out.

Next time you encounter a stubborn bolt like heat that sucker up then hit it with some Freon I bet you that sucker will come right out then just a little tip
My toe bolt is stripped and a shop may have melted the bushing
Oh dang, that toe bolt. I had to keep the torch on it for a long time, and then it came out it was very rusted.

I received my new Siberian bushings today for my 2006 Civic Sedan (same exact ones as yours). Tough bushings! Not looking forward to install them lol.

That trailing arm is about $800, so bushing replacement is more economical. Also, the ball joint is part of the front knuckle from the factory and therefore no OEM replacement for the ball joint. I helped build Elements , but Come on Honda, really???
Yeah, the ball joint is a real pain… one great thing. If you’re buying a knuckle , you can buy a couple extra boot covers for the ball joint and if it ever tears are ripes you can just replace that. I don’t expect the dealership to tell you that, in fact, I was there that last week, and I couldn’t find one tech who has replace the boot?!?! although it is possible and they sell the boots for under $10, they would rather of up charge for numerous reasons in my opinion. So if you’re buying a knuckle, why don’t you do yourself a solid and get a extra boot
I replaced the front ball joint with a moog one on the tail gate with one of those press tools. Was a pain.
