Yes! There was definitely something like Aztek spicey chocolate back in the day. We went recently on a weekday and it was very quiet. Loved it as part of our Merlin pass but not sure it's worth the ticket price now (but hey, "free chocolate" 😁)
We are interested to see what further changes they make to this attraction - wed love to see the factory side come back in some way. We believe the Aztec chocolate still comes out once a year but were not 100% sure.
I went today and thought wow what a rip off, we done the whole factory in 30 minutes then another 15 mins for the outdoor parts. £120 inc fuel for our family for 45 minutes is not good value.
About 10/11 yrs since I last went! Got in for free/near free due to the person I was with, worked for Merlin! I'm sure we got 5 bars each then. So glad to see the cups of warm chocolate still around, although a lil gutted Essence experience has gone! (Where the cups of sweets & chocolate used to be at the end). Would visit again for sure if I ever get the chance again!
Merlin UK operates Cadbury World, despite the concerns Cadbury as a business has gone from strength to strength since Kraft acquired it in 2010 and great to see investment in the Bournville factory still producing Dairy Milk etc!
It was either Kraft or Hershey who were originaly trying to take over Cadbury, in the End Kraft did a hostile take over by paying more to the Cadbury Share Holders than Hershey was offering so the better deal was done, Christ knows what would of happened if Hershey's had taken over Cadbury the taste would of definately gone down hill.
The route has changed every time I've been there. It depends on the time of day and the time of year. I miss the liquid chocolate which is part of the iconic start of Cadbury in Birmingham.
The Liquid chocolate has always been there but used to be in a different place. I think they are putting a lot of work into the flow of the tour at the minute.
I remember going here when I was younger… this doesn’t look as good as it used to be! I remember created my own chocolate wrapper! And loads of chocolate! Subbed to your channel as can’t wait to see where else you go! ❤
You are 100% right about the Aztec coco sample at the beginning back in the day! You were given a small plastic cup to drink it just as you enter. Will always remember the taste!
Defo used to do the Aztec chocolate, it was so bitter. Also where you got the chocolate and white buttons there used to be some other type of sample thing there. We were there a few years ago and noticed the changes then. Was a bit disappointing but for those who hadn’t been before it was a nice treat. Gutted the Cadbury Gorilla has gone.
Thank you for showing us round, ive always wanted to go but its not how i imagined i thought it would have a huge chocolate factory you could look around x
Only just came here yesterday. Loved coming here many years ago, but the whole experience goes way quicker when it comes to Cadabra closing and queuing over half hour for the new Chocolate Quest ride. Which imo goes too quick and a bit too short. Disappointing they should have kept Cadabra and not replace it then you wouldn’t have to be rushing around. There’s not many things to get up within the 2 hours you are spending there.
We went in February 2020, we had the chocolate afternoon tea in the cafe which was delicious. It does look better now than then. We spent a fortune in the shop afterwards. How was it for pushchair and disability access? I was using a walking stick last time, but now use a wheeled walker.
Drink aren’t too badly priced compared to Warwick castle at t6e moment. They’re charging £4.75 for a medium latte and £4 for a small tea! It’s a shame these places are getting so greedy
You should visit York's Chocolate Story for comparison. I used to work there and deliver the guided tour, it's a really fun experience and cheaper than CW.
I remember going to Cadbury world about 20 years ago on a school trip on the absolute hottest day ever! I remember running out of water to drink really quickly and how when we were all given the liquid chocolate cup things, everyone really struggled to eat them because it made our mouths so dry…. Sadly I also remember being bullied on that trip by a couple of really nasty girls as well because they claimed I “smelled”… I’m pretty sure we all stank that day being young teenagers getting off a 2 hour couch ride and then pushed through an unairconditioned chocolate factory for 4 hours in like 40 degree heat! Pretty bad memory unfortunately :(
Merlin UK operates Cadbury World, despite the concerns Cadbury as a business has gone from strength to strength since Kraft acquired it in 2010 and great to see investment in the Bournville factory still producing Dairy Milk etc!
I was always excited about Cadbury world and that it was a fantastic chocolate filled experience, we finally went a few years ago and was slightly let down with our visit. It was an ok day but just felt it was a very short day there.
As a kid (and I went with my two siblings and aunt and uncle) we got a bag of at least x5 chocolate bars each. There were so many we had to put them in the fridge so they’d keep from going off. That was the 80’s. Better times!
I went twenty odd years ago, you used to walk through the factory and see people at work and the mould machines, wrapping machines etc all working. I know later on they screened the walkway with walls with windows in rather than open plan. Looks like all that side of tour has gone now
I went roughly 10 years ago on a school trip and was on crutches. Remember the factory tour and going upstairs. Yes, the factory line s were screennoff but it was a 4 hour long experience, and the tour of the actual factory was at least an hour long in itself.
My daughter went to Birmingham Uni and has stayed up there and now lives in Bourneville. I’ve said we should go here as never been so this video will help me decide as the comments are not looking positive.
As much as I’m despondent over the franchise-isation of the place since I last went when I was a kid, I will say the chocolate teapot and shoe are reasonably priced which is a nice surprise. This video was pure wholesome fun and made me smile. Subscribed! ❤
Ah I remember coming here as a kid. I'm not from the UK so Cadbury used to be considered a top tier Chocolate bar in comparison to the rest. Since coming here, I've always associated Cadbury with quality, especially since it was a UK brand. It's just so disappointing to see what Kraft is doing to this well respected brand. Cadbury seemed to be so well engrained in UK culture. Their chocolates were a staple for every holiday in the UK. Now it feels like they're destroying traditions which took them decades to establish. Lovely family btw! 🥰 God bless you all!
You’re right, I remember getting the Aztec chocolate drink in a tiny cup when I went there as a child. It was slightly spicy and amazing. Sad they got rid of that.
I remember spicy Aztek chocolate from a school trip about (cough cough!) 25 years ago... I then went home and tried to make Chilli hot chocolate afterwards. It was nice to see the Aztek bit is still there though as that's the main thing I remember. Thank you for the nostalgic video.
Yes, I remember the Aztec chocolate drink, unsweeted. Also remember seeing the freshly cooled chocolate and packing viewing areas, as well as a robot putting boxes on pallets. They could easily recreate a packing area, with boxes on conveyor belts! They used to give a chunk of Fresh diary milk, that'd never been packed! I can see why they've cut out an entire floor, but disappointed advertising avenue is so short. I guess Merlin rent per space, so saving money on the section of the factory they are using. The new ride is good, but miss the old one. The historic memorabilia is cool to see. We accidently got a box of caramel freddo, instead of solid chocolate one, as boxes so similar! As a Merlin Pass holder, makes a change from the theme parks, but not sure if worth full price.
Welcome to Merlin! Cut costs by taking out all the good stuff and then run things into the ground, leaving everyone disappointed. Oh, and then also raising the price for admission slowly every year without adding or maintaining anything for the asking price.
Yes you did a sample of Aztec drink, it tasted of cinnamon. You used to get lots of Chocolate. I don't like the new ride bring back the old one. Will really think about going again.
Looks absolutely dire. I went about 7 years ago and even then it was awful and it looks even worse now. They need a serious revamp, give more chocolate for the entry fee and the shop needs to be cheaper. I remember when you could buy a wispa for 40p in there.
It’s definitely not what it used to be I went when I was 7 and it was more focused on the chocolate and I got lots of chocolate. It seems mondelez have done a lot of cut backs from the original Cadbury world in the 90’s/00’s
Thank you for sharing with us. This place looks very underwhelming especially presentation wise it looks like going around Tesco no special presentation looks very standard and ordinary.
I have been to Cadbury world twice the first time I went we got loads of chocolate they had like a bin full of chocolate and so we came away with three big bags full of chocolate and I also won a competition to make some chocolate while I was there with one of the factory workers helping me and the second time I went it was totally different just like what I’m seeing now as we only got one bar chocolate and we didn’t get so much of the factory and I was pretty disappointed.
£9 for 60 that’s still 15p a bar I remember when used to be 6p You think Cadbury the amount of profit they make they would give their chocolate away a little bit more generously x
The works haven’t been finished. Merlin are updating each of the same zones they used to have, but updating and relocating them around to make space for the new ride etc. I think it looks great and excited to see what they bring next! They had to fix what’s there first….
oh 100% you can tell they are midway through their trnasition. We hope they bring some parts of the actual factory back like they used to have. Its good to see that they are making changes.
It don't look that amazing but we'll probably still go check it out. And the TV part looks so boring who wants to go in there to watch chocolates on tv
It really isn't worth going to. You want it to be like Wonka world but all it is, is a museum to Cadbury. Very boring experience and yes they did used to do spicy melted chocolate samples.
I’d rather go to a proper museum. I went here today with some family and it’s a 7/10 at best. Felt disjointed and corporate tbh. If I had kids of my own I wouldn’t have taken them here
We like how we can now go with our merlin annual passes now, we don't really think about the cost for general admission. As a lot of attractions these days a cost for a family to go can add up pretty quickly.
This place needs a complete over haul. The money you pay is disgusting. It's empty space filled with lack luster bits. If you're thinking of going pleasseee don't bother. Absolute waste of time. And yes you did used to get to try Aztec chocolate and it was vile lol.
Went there today, felt disjointed experience, corporate, and like you said, a scam. The shop is literally shameful prices, more expensive than airport 😂
Cadbury World has definitely changed over the years. Can remember when you used to go upstairs and see chocolate coming of the line and being packed.
Used to love that side of the factory tour. We hope they bring it back in some way
I remember that too
I remember those days!
I’m I’m gonna
I

I remember trying that spicy chocolate when I was a kid. It looks like it’s changed so much and not for the good
That was at Aztec zone, pure chocolate and no sugar, the cream egg was given to you at start of,tour to take bitter taste away
I went today and thought wow what a rip off, we done the whole factory in 30 minutes then another 15 mins for the outdoor parts. £120 inc fuel for our family for 45 minutes is not good value.
Update: I went today with some family, 6/10 at best. The shop prices though 😂
About 10/11 yrs since I last went! Got in for free/near free due to the person I was with, worked for Merlin! I'm sure we got 5 bars each then. They did indeed used to have samples of Aztec chocolate. It had chilli in it.
I knew I remembered it!
My uncle tried it and said it was delicious so we all downed that; I remember it being bitter as hell. 🤢 but we all laughed about it afterwards.
That was the highlight for me when we went many years ago. I loved that chilli chocolate drink!
An American company bought them out. Gone downhill ever since. 😢
Merlin UK operates Cadbury World, despite the concerns Cadbury as a business has gone from strength to strength since Kraft acquired it in 2010 and great to see investment in the Bournville factory still producing Dairy Milk etc!
@@richupton7892only chocolate produced on site is for special occasions, Christmas and to sell at the shop etc.
But they’ve closed other factories, moved some abroad and changed the ingredients, it’s downhill from me too.
The route has changed every time I've been there. It depends on the time of day and the time of year. I miss the liquid chocolate which is part of the iconic start of Cadbury in Birmingham.

I honestly wouldn't bother. It's an absolute rip off and you're done in under an hour

Yeah, they have shrunk the whole place in size but still charge the same price. Same as the chocolate bars. 😂
Sweat box and rushed through. 1/10 from my children! I went as a child 20 odd years ago, was AMAZING.
Drink aren’t too badly priced compared to Warwick castle at t6e moment. They’re charging £4.75 for a medium latte and £4 for a small tea! It’s a shame these places are getting so greedy
Everywhere/everything is so much more expensive right now 😔
Why not make yourselves a family picnic and tell them where to stick their prices!
You should visit York's Chocolate Story for comparison. I used to work there and deliver the guided tour, it's a really fun experience and cheaper than CW.
You are right, Aztec chocolate was a drink in the first area as you arrived, Basically chocolate milk + spices

Children say that others stink just to be unkind rather than it being true!
The Americans brought cadburys will never be the same again
Merlin UK operates Cadbury World, despite the concerns Cadbury as a business has gone from strength to strength since Kraft acquired it in 2010 and great to see investment in the Bournville factory still producing Dairy Milk etc!
I use to go every summer (grandparents were from Birmingham) I hope they bring the factory side of it the shop looks like it’s shrunk!
Do they still show all the old Cadbury tv adverts?
I was always excited about Cadbury world and that it was a fantastic chocolate filled experience, we finally went a few years ago and was slightly let down with our visit. It was an ok day but just felt it was a very short day there.
Thanks for sharing your video, have you had the afternoon tea there?.
I worked there in the chocolate demo part back in like 2003, fun job tbh
As a kid (and I went with my two siblings and aunt and uncle) we got a bag of at least x5 chocolate bars each. There were so many we had to put them in the fridge so they’d keep from going off. That was the 80’s. Better times!
This is on our bucket list. Thank you for sharing. New Subscriber here. Big thumbs up 😊👍
I went twenty odd years ago, you used to walk through the factory and see people at work and the mould machines, wrapping machines etc all working. I know later on they screened the walkway with walls with windows in rather than open plan. Looks like all that side of tour has gone now
That was my favourite bit..watching the packing. Went there earlier this year and it no longer exists..
Probably because they don't really make anything there anymore, it's nearly all made abroad
We remember walking through the factory too! Was so fascinating seeing all the boxes on the conveyer belts, wish they still allowed you through there.
I went roughly 10 years ago on a school trip and was on crutches. Remember the factory tour and going upstairs. Yes, the factory line s were screennoff but it was a 4 hour long experience, and the tour of the actual factory was at least an hour long in itself.
I went with some family today. Would not recommend it. If I had my own kids I wouldn’t take them here tbh, not worth it.
Thank you America for tampering with Cadbury s

Yes you did get Aztec chocolate. when I went years ago you only got 1 bar of chocolate
Went on an actual factory tour as a schoolkid. Much better experience
Loved the factory side of the tour we hope they bring it back
Is thy a change to Park at Cadbury world
I went when I was a kid and it was crap enough back then. The ride was good but that was it. We were so disappointed
Thank you for sharing with us. This place looks very underwhelming especially presentation wise it looks like going around Tesco no special presentation looks very standard and ordinary.
back in the day i used to come back with my whole backpack filled with chocolates 😂

Yep. The did it during the Aztec area 100%
We heard they still do it for 1 week of the year but were not sure.
Yeah they used to make the spicy chocolate
Yes chilli chocolate
Merlin ruin everything they take over ...
Since the Americans took over the chocolate doesn't even taste the same. It's definitely not as creamy 😢
I think there are slightly different recipes for different products. The ‘Dairy Milk’ bar is the same as it always was.
They need to let vistors make chicolate and taste chocolate.
Yes they did
Please, whereabouts in England in this place please? My kids would have the times of their lives 😂😂
*is
Merlin happened
It don't look that amazing but we'll probably still go check it out. And the TV part looks so boring who wants to go in there to watch chocolates on tv
Did you eat the doodles?
Yes they used to do Aztec chocolate taster and it was gross 😂😂😂
Im 46 and I'm sure I was about 10 when I went as a kid
Is the gorilla still there?
It really isn't worth going to. You want it to be like Wonka world but all it is, is a museum to Cadbury. Very boring experience and yes they did used to do spicy melted chocolate samples.
You are disappointed that you went to a Cadbury museum and all it was....... was a Cadbury museum?
@@dannyseville2543 no where does it ever say that it's a museum. They call themselves an attraction.
Looks boring as hell that place paying £22 to walk around a museum no thank you
I’d rather go to a proper museum. I went here today with some family and it’s a 7/10 at best. Felt disjointed and corporate tbh. If I had kids of my own I wouldn’t have taken them here

You used to get a bagful, I went one Easter as a child and came away with 10
It's a rip off

Shame cadburys chocolate is so poor now
Sorry but Cadbury Chocolate is one of the best
Cadbury world is a scam, it doesn’t show you how chocolate it made and you have to pay for free chocolate
Went there today, felt disjointed experience, corporate, and like you said, a scam. The shop is literally shameful prices, more expensive than airport 😂
