I think that's the best kind of retro remake, when they don't just copy and paste the same layout but on 3d, and instead elaborate a bit on the theme of the track, like MK8 did.
So many tracks from both known creators and up and coming ones this month, from retros to brand new stuff, there's something for everyone here for sure! I'm especially looking forward to what the new creators got planned. I'd mention favorites but honestly all tracks here were incredible, can't pick a specific one XD Amazing video as usual and thanks for including Frostburn Falls :)
All of these tracks have something that make them look really awesome. So much time and effort put into everything here. I really love the visuals of Caliginous Valley, Timber Rapids, and Sandstone Cliffs. Props to EVERYONE in the video. Thank you for including GBA Snow Land! (Especially as a last-minute addition lol)
@@flint9064 Oh wow, yeah I’ve heard other CT creators were looking to remake this after I released it. Guess we all had some good plans to update the older tracks lol. Thank you for the compliment!

That is one very epic looking GBA Rainbow Road. Also, is that GBA Lakeside Park? What the heck!? Whoever made those GBA courses, damn. You made those courses so unrecognisable but still kept the layout. I applaud the effort.

I love EVERY SINGLE ONE of these tracks. Just how is it possible that they keep getting better and the creators keep coming up with such novel ideas? Hats off to all creators!
It's cool that the retro custom tracks are getting MK8-style remasters. Custom Tracks for this game have come a long way since the early days of Mario Kart Wii, keep it up! 👏
The Caliginous Valley is definitely my favorite, I just think it needs a little more light ? I feel like the track is kinda dark, but the concept is amazing and the execution is great as well.
Thank you for the feedback! The main complaint I saw with the track was the lighting, I will be sure to keep that in mind if I ever end up updating it.
What an incredible month for CTs, and a brilliant showcase to top it off as always. My personal favourites were Caliginous Valley, GBA Snow Land and Frostburn Falls. Thank you for showcasing Water Fall, Water Rise as well, although I think you could have done a better job showcasing the threat of the water rising by taking the innermost bridge lap at the start. But everything else was perfect!
Now looking back, I should've fast-foward the preview to show the rise of the water. I think people get the point with what I got in the video. I've never seen that gimmick before in a Mario Kart Track and I truly think you nailed it. My brother and I both really love the concept. Wish I could've showed it off a little better, I just had no idea how to haha.
@@MarioPower55 That's OK. Thanks for the kind words. I actually watched the video again and just remembered that dolphin doesn't allow lap edits. I'm reality it's a 5 lap track, but on dolphin it's only 3. So you actually couldn't have done a better job showcasing it. My bad!
Thank you for showcasing Interstellar War and Verdant Wilds! All of these are amazing. I really like Wacky Waterworks since it's so unique. It also reminds me of a world in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. Also that Brinstar music and Halo music are bangers!
I knew you would like the Halo music for Interstellar! For real, I've never seen anything like that in a track before. Literally a space war in a Mario Kart Track! Love your ideas.
Might as well give my full opinion on GBA LP: Like I said before, I don't like the less offroad-heavy nature of this version's layout (mainly at the part at 8:31 as well as the shortcut) however this is just a personal thing and I do like the new placement of the shortcut. Visually, it looks great by itself. I think there was a bit too much emphasis on the volcano aspect compared to the lake/jungle however that's also a personal thing and I will say the darker rock texture of this (compared to something like GCN DKM) looks really nice, as well as the grassy sections. I love the part where you go inside the volcano and I think the volcanoes in the background look great. I also like the verticality that this track has (like with GBA RR).
The Retro Tracks really look amazing! and the new ones are either a complete new experience for me or I recognize them from the older MKWii CT community (Like Nebula Lava Factory).
My main takeaways for August: - CT Jam tracks have gotten so good that by 2022 we might have to split these monthly vids into Jam and non-Jam videos. - In 2019 new CTs felt like they were either pretty but simple or ambitious but less visually appealing. We've advanced so far since then that several extremely ambitious new tracks that look excellent come out on a monthly basis. - After Quaking Mad Cliffs last year, Sandstone Cliffs this year, and Mushroom Gorge already, cliffs has now become my favorite track theme. - The time limit on Jams is lots of fun, but many tracks deserve further development so they can reach their potential as Coin Heaven has proven once again. Many come out already great, but updates like these are even better somehow.
GBA Rainbow Road looks absolutely INSANE here. I had no clue what Nintendo was gonna do for it in a future Mario Kart, but this REALLY shows what they could do with the track, and it doesn't even have anti-gravity!!!
Okay you've _gotta_ get less aggressive with your cuts here. I know it's tempting on each editing pass to cut a little more out and a little more out and a little more out, but you've gotta resist that urge. Between your aggressive cuts and your transitions there are several instances of the context for a shortcut being completely removed, for example. Having editing is better than having no editing, though! Also, the custom tracks on display here are damn good.
Woooooooow, those CTs are AMAZING!!! I would like to have bot versions of the GBA RR and lakeside park on CTGP. Incredible months, I would like to play them all
Not really a fan of how GBA Rainbow Road got Mario Kart 8ified but all the other tracks are pretty cool! Caliginous Valley is probably my favorite here. Great vid.
You used a Halo track for Interstellar War. Now I have this deep craving for a Custom Track based off of one of the many Warthog Runs. Maybe a track around the outskirts of Blood Gulch?
if i’m remembering correctly, for ctgp, these courses will be updated into it automatically, or would i have to do something to add them. (sorry unsure about ctgp still)
Every track needs to go through the CTGP Council before it can be added to CTGP. The creator would submit their track and the council will test, analyze the track, and will reject/accept/ or put it in the "potential" category or "needs fixing". I'm still learning myself, but I'm pretty sure that's the process.
I have to say I'm blown away by the overall quality of these new tracks, and while there is nothing major to complain about, I have two main suggestions: - While this audacious take on GBA Rainbow Road is fine, I miss all the bouncy parts, this was this track's best gimmicks - In DS Cheep-Cheep Beach the S-shaped sand part seems too wide to me, its boost ramp as well. And too bad the MK8 shortcut isn't there
I think Gba rainbow road looks great but i wish that tunnel was a bit more elavated in the track, would lead to a cool way down and it looks kinda ugly seeing it from the other sides of the road.

Caliginous Valley, 9/10 Looks amazing if polished up it could look like one of the best cts. Timber Rapids, 8/10 Nice course design. Sandstone Cliffs, 7/10 A bit boring to look at, but a nice course. Verdant Wilds, 4/10 A bit to big, and the big turns are really plain and dull, with the colors being dull to. Glistening Highway, 9/10, Looks amazing graphically, but the building section could use some work. Water Falls Water Rise, 7/10 Short, sweet, and to the point. GBA Snow Land, 10/10 GBA Rainbow Road could learn from this one. DS Cheep Cheep Beach, 10/10 Just wow. N64 Royal Raceway, 8/10, Looks straight out of MK8
Some of these are very harsh. It's obvious you're not a track creator since you don't know how much work goes into making a CT. Coin Heaven, for instance, has been worked on for over a year now. And I made Interstellar War and Verdant Wilds (with Bear) for a contest. It sucks that people who don't know CT creation can just be so quick to judge people's hard work like it's nothing. 😞
"constructive criticism"? none of this was remotely constructive. saying something is rushed, or that the colours don't work, isn't constructive because it can't be used to improve the track. it doesn't even seem like you played these tracks before judging them. your rating of coin heaven in particular is really unwarranted.
@@jclkaytwo The colors of coin heaven are a bit to vibrant while the older pastel colors worked better, the ramp looked weird and a lot of unnecessary stuff was added making the track feel a bit much.
@@luffyymkwii8384 the colours are bright so the track is automatically bad, despite the fact that the track is completely polished in virtually every other respect? LMAO LOGIC still doesn't change the fact that zero of your criticisms were anywhere near the realm of constructive.

3DS Neo Bowser City, 6/10 Nicely polished, but has no wow factor.
Interstellar War, 5/10 Looks really rushed.
Wacky Waterworks, 6/10 Nice idea, but looks unfinished.
Nebula Lava Factory, 9/10 Looks amazing and looks like it plays nicely to.
@@incognito6751 I know how much people work on these, I am being harsh on purpose, and they are meant to be looked on as constructive criticism.
LMAO LOGIC
still doesn't change the fact that zero of your criticisms were anywhere near the realm of constructive.
