- Minister Gan Kim Yong has been named Deputy Prime Minister alongside Heng Swee Keat in the Cabinet of incoming Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. He said he is grateful and humbled that Mr Wong has asked him to continue serving as a member of the new Cabinet. Mr Gan will retain his portfolio as Minister of Trade and Industry. It is an honor for me to have worked with GKY back in the 1980s in the Ministry of Trade and Industry when I helped run the Science Park. He was always a steady, strong and efficient colleague. It is so good to have a 3G stalwart help the new PM. Congratulations sent from overseas, and if you do visit the Silicon Valley again, it will be an honor to meet up after all these years.

By promoting GKY and keeping HSK, it signals dominance of 3G team, lack of confidence in 4G team, power struggles, and distrust within the PAP. Singaporeans must know that this is not about continuity of government, but hold on power by LHL and his 3G team. LW is just another tool. In exchange to become the next PM, LW will promise to keep 3G team in charge. LW is also making use of this opportunity to sideline his fiercest competitors, CCS and OYK. Do not trust PAP. Do not vote PAP. Make LW a one term PM.
