I'm so glad you graphed the PLA13 to the PR1 together, I knew they would graph very similar, I'm leaning towards the letshouer s12s , I do like the kinera Celest but I found out they aren't true planars, they a kind of cross between a dynamic driver and a BA, it's some kinda new Chinese technology but they do sound very good for the price
Currently I own Moondrop Aria (Black one), and I thoroughly enjoy it, so it can highlight my taste of sound to you...! (Warm-Neutral) So my question is: Should I purchase this PR1 to experience planar magnetic IEM by KZ Acoustics?
This is a good attempt from KZ to enter the Planar game, under the 100 dollar mark. The design and build are very nice, better than the PLA. But at this price the IEMs should be complemented with better accessories. Typical KZ marketing though! 🤦♂️ They could of tuned this with a more mature sound. It is the high fidelity variant after all! But in KZ fashion there will be a Pro and then Pro X... That will probably highlight the strength of the planar driver. Thank you for the Review Sir👍👍
Perhaps this is the right marketing move, because music lovers change all the standard cables and ear pads. I would love to buy only bare emitters-heads without a standard wire and ear pads to save money.
Depends on tuning but I do like the Tangzu and Hookx. Timeless and S12 are right behind those. Dioko is decent but I prefer more midbass and the shell is very large.
Live a happy life frequencies are nothing if you can hear everything 50 to 5-8 khz is the complete frequency every sound is based on That's what we hear Past 8k frequencies doesn't even matter
Thanks and I would say this has better comfort than the Dioko but the Dioko has much better accessories than this and I prefer the Dioko tuning over this and I also have the Kinera planar hybrid as well.
Most likely, the large ventilation grid in the PR1 on the case cut off the low frequencies. I will experiment with a copper OOS cable, although my ears hear up to 12 kHz
But 12k peeks are ear piercing there's very sharp sssssssssssss sounds in female vocals That's almost unbearable unlistenable you can find those peeks in CCA CRA+ and EdX Ultra Typically all KZs have treble peeks and problems They can't even use a proper filter in the nozzle They use cheap paper filter That's horrible that treble is bad for your hearing it can create hearing loss over time you won't realise They don't have anything to prevent unnecessary treble Most companies like Sennheiser Sony etc etc use foam filter in nozzle or any good filter
@@aaronmathias6739 I had sennheiser CX 180 for $10 still have it and it sounds better than 7hz salnotes zero CRA or Chu or Blon Bl03 I have them all Cx180 has best mids and treble and best sub bass it's more than any of them You might have never heard of this before
I have the Dioko, S12 and Timeless covering the planar side of my IEMs, I think all planars require some good power behind them to really extract the goodness even though they will play on the phone.

Celest is good and the review is soon for that. S12 Pro looks good.
Thanks for the honest thoughts, as always! 🙏
Thanks Cody.

I would wait for the PR1 Pro version and see if it's superior.

Indeed but lets see what future models are like and thanks! I do have the Kinera Planar hybrid and that video is next.

@@proHiFi Thanks.
I was waiting for Your's take
Cheers Zeed!
quite sad they didn't change the packaging to a premium looking one, compare to AS16 PRO it's packaging looks premium
I agree with that.
What is your favourite low-ish budget planar iem?
Depends on tuning but I do like the Tangzu and Hookx. Timeless and S12 are right behind those. Dioko is decent but I prefer more midbass and the shell is very large.
Seems to be my definitive IEMs (I'm about 60 years old, and my hearing starts to decrease from ~12kHz, ending definitely below 14kHz) 😂
Don't worry about it!

Its not quite the EDA-balanced version, KZ planar...
but i guess its a small step towards that from PLA13
Indeed and lets see what the future holds.
Most likely, the large ventilation grid in the PR1 on the case cut off the low frequencies. I will experiment with a copper OOS cable, although my ears hear up to 12 kHz
The grid does nothing. It's just for looks. These have lots of low frequencies!

Insane amount of lower treble.
Other than that, I think the PR1 is reasonably well tuned.
👍
Great comparison. Thanks. You say that Kz needs too much power...more than S12 or Diokos?
Not tried the S12 for a while but they need sufficient power.

80mw at 32ohm?
