Hello kristie, you asked why we use this light to check the level of the water. Light can damage the fermentation process, and can change tastes in the mead. That's why you used a purple/ blueish light. Similar to us working bees at night with a red light, if we use a clear light the bees go bananas 😁

Was that a UV light that you used at the start? I would imagine you'd use that to kill any bacteria that may be floating in the water.

Brilliant answer but not the correct one unfortunately 😅👍😅 UV in the correct application, does kill bacteria and even destroy Yeast. Well Done 👏 😅
