    Wow. Your comment about "doing way more research than I need to, to feel confident" hit me straight in the heart. I feel frozen when someone asks me a question about a topic even if I'm super across the content, because I can't seem to find the right words to explain things. Hearing audio or with pictures with a slightly different perspective helps me to cement understandings in my mind also

      I'm glad to hear that my comment resonated with you! It's understandable to feel frozen or uncertain when asked a question, even if you know the answer. It's important to remember that everyone learns differently, and some people may need more time or different methods to fully grasp a concept.
      Using different forms of media, such as audio or visual aids, can be a great way to solidify your understanding of a topic. It can also help to practice explaining concepts in your own words to someone else, or even to yourself in front of a mirror. This can help you feel more confident and prepared when it comes to discussing the topic with others.
      Remember, it's okay to take the time to do extra research or find the right words to explain something. The important thing is that you are willing to put in the effort to truly understand a concept and effectively communicate it to others. Keep up the good work!

    I agree with your statement.people do not understand what we are dealing with your handicap.

      I'm glad to hear that you agree with my statement. Unfortunately, many people still lack understanding about disabilities and the challenges faced by those who live with them. This can lead to misunderstandings, insensitive comments, and even discrimination. However, it's important to remember that education and awareness are key in changing attitudes and promoting inclusion. Speaking up and sharing your experiences can help others gain a better understanding of what you and others with similar experiences are going through. And it's important to surround yourself with people who support and accept you for who you are.

      I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing negative treatment from your supervisor and co-workers. It's never okay for someone to make fun of you or put you down, and this behaviour can have a serious impact on your self-esteem and well-being. If possible, I would encourage you to speak with your supervisor or a human resources representative about how you're being treated and express the difficulties you're facing. If that's not an option, consider reaching out to a therapist or counsellor who can support you and help you navigate this situation. Remember that you deserve to be treated with respect and dignity, and it's important to prioritize your own well-being.

    got diagnosed in my 50s, dyslexic, ADD, executive function disorder. Is there any groups I can join in my local area .I need to speak to people who have these issues. Every time I reach out, (it costs a lot of money.) why isn’t there a central place where I can go and learn about all of this for adults how about free since we’ve gotten screwed through the years

      I'm truly sorry to hear about the challenges you've faced. It's essential to have support, especially when navigating such diagnoses. While I can't pinpoint local groups without more specific location details, I'd recommend checking out organisations like the British Dyslexia Association or ADHD UK for resources and local group listings. Local libraries or community centres might also have information on support groups. Remember, online forums and groups can also offer support. Your voice is vital, and I hope you find the community you're looking for.

    I need to know how to chat and respond to him without creating negativity from him

    • @ExceptionalIndividuals

      Hi @maureenmesserli8590, communicating without creating negativity can be challenging, especially if emotions are involved. It might help to approach the conversation with empathy, active listening, and clear language. Asking open-ended questions and seeking to understand the other person's point of view can foster a more positive interaction. If you need specific advice related to neurodiversity or more context, please feel free to share more details! 🧡

    I am trying to figure out how a dyslexic person thinks

    • @ExceptionalIndividuals
      @ExceptionalIndividuals  ปีที่แล้ว

      Understanding how a dyslexic person thinks is a complex endeavor, as dyslexia manifests differently in each individual. Dyslexia is primarily characterised by difficulties with accurate and/or fluent word recognition and by poor spelling and decoding abilities.

    A bunch of theories from “OLD WHITE MEN”… I’m not sure I’ll learn much from someone avoiding information they don’t like. You don’t have to agree with a theory to learn from it. People learn from mistakes for example, or heaven forbid a race and sex you dislike may be correct. This form of education is like audible book burning in my opinion.

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I agree that we should keep an open mind when considering theories and not dismiss them based on the age, race, or gender of the individuals presenting them. It's essential to learn from different perspectives and be willing to consider opinions that may differ from our own.
