Bringing you another what sold video, how I packed it and Ebay sold comps. Look for occasional longer videos like this in place of my longer Vlogs. Both styles of videos require a lot of time to make and edit and since I’m behind on sharing what sold videos, this is what I made for you. Besides, in the past few weeks there hasn’t been much for us to VLOG about.
Mercari changes of course, but that’s another story and to give my take on it that will require a longer video!
As always, thanks for watching, commenting, and subscribing, Vickie and Mark ~ Avante Avenue
You are the best packer! And you are the only seller that I follow that actually shows them packing their sales.
Thank you so much, Pat! I know that other resellers show pulling their stuff off shelves, but I’m not familiar with how much they show packing their sales. I will tell you this as to why I think they do not share packing videos and that is because they pay out so little on TH-cam.
Plus, why you see so many Goodwill shopping videos as they pay much more.
Plus, I’ll add that making packing videos and editing them takes a lot more time and effort to making videos. Luckily, for me, it’s become second nature because I’ve been doing it so long now. I truly appreciate that you appreciate my videos!
Hi there, I just want to thank you and Mark for all you do to help out resellers, old and new. I'm relatively new to ebay and I first found you when I couldn't figure out how I could possibly safely ship some glass items. Sure enough, I not only found my solution in your videos but I stuck around because you provide real world advice and guidance on running an ebay business. I binge watched your videos after that and I've stuck around so I can garner more of your wisdom. Thank you very much.
Thank you so much, Frank! We appreciate that you've stuck around to hear more!
Woo Hoo to daytime jammies & the best packers in the game🫶
Ha! Ha! Everyday that I can! Thank you!
Progress = success no matter how much. Another great video!! Hope you are Mark are doing well! Thank you for your encouragement and motivation!!
~Tammy
True. We're as good as we can be. Thank you Tammy!
Wow, I see Mr. Coffee replacement pots all the time and just pass them by. I guess I’d better start paying attention to them!
Yes, we do too. Always check your ebay sold comps (and sell through rate). Thank you!
Loved this video!!! You have taught me how to package everything. I had a buyer leave one of the best positive feedbacks I have received.
She said that her item was wrapped so well that she could throw it off of a 2-story building, and it wouldn't break.
It was a beautiful Empoli green glass brandy snifter .
I wanted to comment on one of your past videos, but I got distracted.
I received negative feedback about a month ago. It really upset me. It was an MA Hadley dinner plate. There were 2 manufacturers' flaws on it. It almost looked as if when the plate was fired, the glaze popped.
I showed close-up pictures and, in my description, stated that these were flaws, not chips.
The buyer said that she wished she had known that there were chips on the plate.
I sent her a message stating that they were not chips.
Of course, Ebay sided with her
Item was exactly as described.
So happy for you that you’re receiving positive feedback on your packing! That’s always a great thing!
As to your negative feedback situation, you can contact Ebay for business on Facebook and ask for their help to have it removed. They have helped me in other situations.
If it’s not removable, think wisely on your reply to her comment and state the facts of what had already been disclosed in the listing to the buyer before purchasing. You can also add a statement about referencing all of the happy customers that you have and positive feedback. Once you post it, you can’t change it. But that’s what I recommend.
Of course, if you reply before contacting Ebay for business and getting their help, they will not be able to remove the negative. So do that first. You’ll have to provide your accountant information to them by signing into your account for them to access it. But they’ll tell you that.
Hope that helps and thank you, Sandy!
I really like your channel ❤ I've learned so much, and the feeling is nice and relaxed. 😊
Glad you enjoy it! Lots of videos in our playlists. Thank you Chei!
What a wonderful video about what sold and packing! I was especially interested in the packing of the heavy glass tealight candle warmer trivet. I have a couple of these in my inventory and wondered about the best way to package them. Thank you for showing this example, now I feel more confident in shipping them. They are beautiful pieces and are especially beautiful under a teapot at a tea party. You are the best packer of glass for sure!
Great! Happy the HEAVY glass tea light trivet will help you get yours listed! Thank you so much Anita!
When I used to ship glass items, I found pool noodles worked very well for handles , spouts or any part that was vulnerable and then lots of bubble wrap. Happy to say , none ever arrived broken.
Yes, they are handy. I use them sometimes for handles. Thank you Elaine!
Another great pack and ship video. Who would have thought some Yankee Candles could sell for so much money! I will, from now on, check every one I come across. Have a great day!
Thank you Kaye! Yes, who knew???? I was shocked at the sold prices!
Yes. Some Yankee Candles can sell great. Just be careful when sending during warm months or to warm areas of the country for any type of candles.
Yes! Absolutely.
Vicky, I really enjoyed this video. Thanks for taking the time for this one, very interesting! tell Mark I said hi.
Thank you! Will do! You are so welcome Patricia!
Great to see a what sold and packing video. Love watching your sold videos, you are not afraid to buy and ship beautiful glass items. I did not know that one item was a tea candle warmer. After watching your videos, i find it hard not to critique other resellers lack of packing skills.
Thank you Maggie and a BIG thank you for my packing skills! I do try. I know what you mean though. Many shortcut or put little thought into protection and presentation. There IS a happy medium Thank you!
New sub here! Love this style of video. Your packing skills resemble mine and my hubby’s. Sometimes I feel like overkill, but you’re right…what’s the point of rescuing an item and then be fortunate enough to sell it, if it’s going to arrive broken? I will be watching your older vids and look forward to upcoming ones! Happy selling! 😎
Welcome to our channel and thank you Michele! Exactly. It's sad when I see photos on Facebook of things that arrived broken because it was poorly packed. I want to shout out, "Watch my pack to ship videos!" But, of course...I can't. Not allowed. LOL. Thank you!
Thanks again. I sold 8Colony Park salad plates recently for $72.00. Good to see the both of you. Makes me smile.
What a great sale! Congrats Gail! Thank you!
Great video. Didn't know clear glass could sell that well. I did know about Yankee Candle though. Also Gold Canyon candles can sell pretty good if you find those too. I sold a large size Gold Canyon Candle last month for $50. The old Yankee candles were made better than current ones they have more scent...lol that's why people like the old ones and some scents are retired and people have their favorite scents. lol. Ask me how I know cause I am a little bit candle crazy myself.
Didn't know about Gold Canyon candles. Thank you for sharing your tip! I also didn't know that the older candles had a better scent. Thank you Elizabeth!
My friend has a huge thrift store. Thousands of sq feet. I get so many things from her. I got a replacement blender bottom. The machine part. I had a glass top. She charges me 75% off what she sells others because we are very good friends. I love glass. She has tons. She’s closing because the property sold. If she doesn’t have it it doesn’t exist. She sold me a Wilson leather jacket for 10$. A Calvin Klein wool men’s coat for 10$. On and on. I have spent hundreds of dollars there. Going next week.
Lucky you to have such a great resource! Sorry though to hear that she has to close it. Thank you Cyndi!
You are my go to for packing tips! Very helpful. 👍
Awesome! Thank you Sharon!
I love your what sold and packing videos! Thank you for the heads up on Yankee candles. I always buy their cardinal items, but never really actively looked for the candles. It’s easy to get complacent and think none of them are valuable.
You are so welcome! I rarely find "new/unused candles but I did this time and so will you! Thank you!
Glad I found you ❤
Me too! Thank you Kim!
yes,,, I bought a clear vase 10 inch tall about 2 in wide etched verticle lines for 99 cents sold $89.00,, forgot to mention it was Tiffany small blue label as well etched signature on bottom,,,
WooHoo Thomas! That's fantastic!
The best wrapped package I got on ebay were 2 very fragile Japanese bowls with chopsticks, the seller sent them in a larger box, and used empty water bottles, some with lids, some without to ship them, and arrived in perfect condition! His family must drink alot of bottled water..good for them!
Oh wow! Thanks for sharing Cheryl!
I buy rolls of paper from the Greeneville sun for packing ❤❤
Love that! We bought some a few months ago from our Kingsport newspaper co. Thank you!
I would slice the noodle piece you had lengthwise into 6ths or 8ths and place a piece on each side of the handle and then wrapped with small bubble wrap to hold them in place.
Thanks! So many ways to pack the same thing!
Great video and information!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you!
Great video. Those tea light holders are beautiful. Maybe we will run into you in Elizabethton one day!
Thank you!
We picked up our son for Spring Break (end of Feb. '24) at university (7 hour drive one way) and made it a couple day trip to stop at thrift stores along the way. He recommended I purchase a BRAUN Aromaster 10 cup carafe still in its original box for $2.99, saying it should sell quickly on eBay. He was right! We sold it in 2 days for $19.99 plus shipping. He is an art history major graduating this May - and he understands the market for things so much better than I and Dad do - and we study and watch TH-cam channels like yours.
How great to have a younger person’s point of view as to what is a good buy for reselling! Maybe that’s how so many of us older resellers get stuck in a rut when it comes to expanding our inventory options. Lol.
Be sure to give him a WooHoo from us! thank you for sharing your story!
Thank you! Yes. I will pass along your WOOHOO! 🙌
Another great video! I had no idea that was a warmer! I will definitely pick them up when I see them again! Thank you!
Great! Thanks Julie!
I was a shipping manager for a customized clothing company. There were items like coffee cups that we sold in boxes made for our company. This old dog has learned a lot of new tricks from your packaging videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I'm selling collectibles from my Mom's antique store on eBay. I've gotten positive feedback on my shipping skills that you have given to me. 💜
Oh wow! Thank you so much! Happy your receiving positive feedback!
Your bracelet looks great with your top. Thanks for the video Vickie and Mark.
Thank you Diane!
I'm beginning to sell on eBay and your videos are wonderful for me to learn how to pack my items correctly! Thank you!
You are so welcome! Happy to help and thank you!
5k views in two days? Yay!! I hope this trend continues!! 🎉
I know! First time ever in 5+ years! I’m afraid to get too excited about it. The pressure is on. I hope the new subscribers like my other videos too! Thank you!
@AvanteAvenue I am happy for you and Mark! I pray this is a breakthrough after so many videos with exceptional content. These new viewers have a lot to look forward to, Woo Hoo!!
Thank you!
I just love EAPG,,, what a find,, usually pass taking another look pays off$$$$
Always check comps. Google lens is so helpful. Thanks Thomas!
Enjoyed this format. The comparisons are always interesting.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you Wendy!
Great resource. Thank you for sharing your expertise!
Thank you Ann! Much appreciated and happy it's helpful!
I love watching your videos! I am new to reselling and have found the confidence to ship fragile items thanks to you. Thank you ❤
Wonderful! And, welcome to reselling! Thank you!
Another great video! I have a lot of clear glass to list, thank you for sharing your experience with us ❤️
Thank you so much, Clarissa!
Oh I learned something new! Those heavy glass warmers are a new one for me.
Always love it when you learn something new! Thank you, Brenda!
Wow I love watching you package stuff. I am so scared to ship glass.
Watch enough of my videos and it surely will take the "scare" out of shipping glass items. One step at a time and the right boxes and packing material and you've got this! Thank you!
@@AvanteAvenue thanks hun!
Just got two amazing lots of EAPG at an estate sale for a dollar apiece because people think they don’t sell! I’m so glad to come across your video, and I feel validated that I already pack the way you do. Shipping mishaps are rare from my shop! Thanks for the info! Would love to see more suggestions about clear glass identification!
That is awesome! Clear class identification is always challenging. Thank you!
Love watching your video they are so well done and you describe the item and what it sold for and on top of that how to package it so well Thank You for what you do. Could you do your next video on ceramic or pottery if that would not be to much to ask. I also really like that you print up a receipt of the items that you sell would you have a video on how to do that because I think that would be a plus for me.
Thank You
It’s in my To Do list. I have several other videos before it. Thank you Frank!
I will be looking at the clear glass a little closer. I usually pass right by all clear. Great video.
You should! But I always check sold comps too. Thank you Misty!
I just found u so fun to watch ! Thank you
Thank you and welcome to the channel Jeannie! I have lots of videos, organized by playlists, if you want to catch up. Thanks!
New subscriber! Love your videos. I can tell you put aLot of time and effort into editing them. You and your hubby are adorable.
I try not to sell Glass because it scares me to death , I’ll leave those for you 🤣 but I’m loving watching your videos. Keep it going and I’ll continue watching 🙂
Thank you so much and welcome to our channel! I understand about selling glass because I once was intimidated by the shipping. And, that’s exactly why I took it on and I share my packing videos. Thank you for your kind comments and encouragement!
Hi neighbor ❤ from Whitesburg ❤
Hello Neighbor! Will have to look up where Whitesburg is! Thank you!

I often wonder if old candles still hold their scent, so I don't pick them up.
I hadn’t thought about the scent, but I didn’t want to pick them up because they could melt during shipping. In fact, I bought some Yankee candle tarts recently and I’m storing them in a cool place until Fall. I can’t say that I’ve checked comps on them so I don’t know if they were worth anything or not. Scent is a legitimate concern. Although some candles are unscented. I didn’t smell anything when I opened the box and I’m very sensitive too scents. Thank you, Carole.
I do ship hard good and breakables as well, but it costs so much when you're buying boxes, bubblewrap and tape. I honestly wish we could add a small packaging fee. Auctions charge outrageous shipping fees. Clothes sellers simply stuff theirs in a poly mailer and it's on it's way. I do buy bubble wrap, but I rarely buy boxes. I scrounge around for those.
Yes, shipping materials can be costly. That's why we buy boxes in "bulk." Plus, I use a ton of ebay shipping boxes that we get with the quarterly coupon. I also order bubble wrap and other supplies in LARGE quantities to keep the cost low. Always know your cost "per" box and "per" square foot of bubble wrap. That will have you when shopping for the lowest price. Of course, quality is just as important. We do not use local bubble wrap at retail stores. It's poor quality, overpriced and not good enough for glassware. Hope that helps and thank you Avalon! Happy scrounging for supplies! I do a little of that too.
@@AvanteAvenue I've had one thing break, a vintage Shawnee corn bowl, but I think it was due to extreme temperature changes. I live in Texas and shipped it out when it was around 106 degrees.
Sorry to hear about your breakage. I’ve had some trouble with long platters. I have shipped a Shawnee corn dish before with lid. It did arrive OK. We add a label to every glassware or ceramic package that says to the buyer, “please allow to come to room temperature before opening.“ I agree that sudden temperature changes that can cause breakage.
I started using the free usps boxes for the bottom and top of boxes in packing. They have a firm body to them that adds protection to the final boxing and the price is right!😃😃
Are you shipping the box USPS Priority? Their boxes may be free, but they’re not meant to be used as internal packing material. Same with padded flat rate envelopes. They are not free for the intent of internal packing material. It is misuse.
Opps, thanks for the knowledge, didn't know that. Will go back to using other boxes instead for the bottom and top of boxes to add protection. Post Office mishandles boxes all the time in how they stack them in trucks and their parcel sorting machines causing un needed damage. I retired from the USPS and have seen everything.
Side note, very nice you tube sight, you and your husband have !
You are welcome and thank you so much! lots of videos to catch up on if you’re interested.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you Fran!
I don't know my allergies won't let me enjoy those candles, but I have had a cologne I've used for more than 20 years and it seemed it was getting discontinued last year. It was normally like 11-16 dollars a bottle. I paid 65 for one and thought well I will just use it now and then until it's gone. Happily at least for the time being it reappeared everywhere and I can get it for less than 20 again.
That's the market for you. Prices going up and down; however....most prices are "up" these days. Thank you!
I wouldn't have even thought about shipping that in a Flat Rate Envy. I would be fearful that it would get damaged. When you did, did it travel far? If you remember.
Thanks for sharing. Happy Sales and Happy April!
I don't remember how far but I've done it twice and both arrived just fine. It's very heavy but a sturdy hunk of glass. This was before we could offer Ground Advantage. Thank you Paula!
I have to know if you are aware of the amazing inflatable bubble packaging out there today and just choose not to use it or if you don't like it or had a bad experience? I buy these little balloons bags. I put in my item and blow it up and my item is instantly suspended between 2 layers of air perfectly surrounding the breakable. Sooooooo much faster safer and easier than all that bubble wrap and air cushions!!! It was listed as a trading card protector but I went down the rabbit hole and I've bought all the sizes. Sooooo much better and more cost efficient!
Haven’t heard of them, but you did mention that they are small. Very few of my fragile items are small. I looked up what you suggested and I can’t find any size but for well, trading cards.
We make our own air pillows and I buy bubble wrap in volume which keeps the price per sq ft quite low.
Please share the different sizes that you use. Thank you.
@AvanteAvenue I'm so excited. I found big ones on Amazon last night and i ordered some. I was using the small ones. It sandwiches your item and the air surrounds it. The ones I ordered last night are 10x12" and they go even bigger. I looked and found a seller with all sizes ( I put a link here but i don't see my comment so not sure if TH-cam didn't like it so I'm commenting again lol) The thing I know we have to prevent is movement in the package and this allows you to not have to fill your package voids because it's totally secure. I am even able to ship some in bags and not boxes :) Make a video if you get some! :) I think you will be totally in love. Just look up inflatable shipping bubble or the like. I've seen them up to 24x24 inches. Keep up being cute you two!
Thank you! I’ll check into it.
👍😃
Thank you, Courtney!
Hi Vickie and Mark! Loved your video as usual and appreciated the information about items that can be BOLO's but are often overlooked. The EAPG deer pitcher...wow, what a find! I would really like to know your thoughts about the new move from Mercari to eliminate seller fees. I know there are positives and negatives. I am so curious to see what the effect will be. I have made very few sales there overall, but I would appreciate your perspective. Maybe a video with this as the subject matter? ❤
Edit: I missed it! I see you're already on top of it! Looking forward to your thoughts soon!
Love that you loved the video! Yes, but my video will go way beyond just what Mercari is doing. This is the future. Since we are all buyers, we are all going to be affected at some point.
I’ve actually been making notes as to all the things I want to say on the subject. I’ll try to get something out this month. I know many other reseller TH-camrs have already posted about it and I have found some miss information in what they’re sharing, but for the most part, it is what it is.
Thank you!
@AvanteAvenue I respect your opinions, and you always do your research. Some chaos definitely ensued with the initial rollout, and you are so right when you say we are all buyers. I know you'll bring clarity to the details and things that should be considered. I'll be looking for the 🔔 notification. All the best!
Just found you. Wow! Love your channel. I assume you determine the weight before you even list the item so you don't short change yourself?
Yes, I always weigh the item before listing. Check out this recent video that I made. Cha Ching! What SOLD Let's PACK | ebay ReSeller
th-cam.com/video/jcSUNvJ2mjY/w-d-xo.html
Thank you Susan and welcome to reselling!
Hi Vickie, I would like to know where to buy the large size Bubble Wrap because I don't want to risk buying it online because there is one similar to the one at the Dollar Store that is very poor quality. Thanks
Angie
That's such a hard question to answer. You see, we "had" (past tense) a favorite but then they shorted us. We just tried another order but we haven't measured the rolls yet. I'll try to do that next week. I hear you though, very POOR quality locally (hardware stores, etc). Thank you!
Vickie, just curious, why don't you use packing peanuts to fill small voids? Educate me. I've been a lot more confident in my shipping since I've watched your videos. Thank you so much.
I'm not a fan of packing peanuts unless I have a really large "void" to fill. For the most part, they pack "loosely" (they are called loose fill) and I prefer a firmer pack that fills the hollow area. They also are messy to work with both for us and I assume the buyer as they can scatter everywhere in seconds. It's a personal preference. Thanks for asking Carol!
I have a question 🙋🏻♀️ I’m wondering if it is safe to store glass inventory in my separate garage space. I know the weather can change a lot here in California. I’m wondering if the extreme cold or heat will crack glass items. I also store glass, brass, wood etc. Any suggestion?
I would be very apprehensive of storing glass items in a separate building and then bringing them into a warmer or cooler temperature. We always put a label on the outside of our glassware boxes, saying “please allow to come to room temperature before opening.”Because, sudden temperature changes could cause breakage.
Our glassware is stored in our Ebay room, which is the same or similar temperature as the rest of the house. Slightly cooler than upstairs, but not by no cold.
So that’s our take on it. As to brass, it should be fine. As to wood? It could possibly mildew or pick up an odd scent from being stored in a non-controlled temp building.
We just went to a sale yesterday, and all of the stuff had been stored in a separate building from the house. It was obvious that they weren’t running any air or heat in the room and everything smelled very musty and mildew. we had to walk away from fabric, paper, wood, and plush items. We could smell the mildew from the building 10 feet away.
So that’s my take on it. Thanks for asking.
I don't pick up many clear glass items. I will have to look at them a little closer.
Always check ebay sold comps. It's really fun when you find a winner. Thanks Lisa!
Another helpful video! How long does it take to sell clear glass?
Thank you! How fast? Hard to say. These sales were within 90 days. We are long term sellers so time/storage isn't an issue for us. Always check your recent ebay sold comps.
I use way too much bubble wrap.
A little bit can go along way if it’s good Bubble Wrap, the right size and use the best way. Thank you!
I'm a new seller. After packaging, how do you weigh your box? Are you using eBay postage labels?
I weigh the item before listing and of course, after packing WITH a sample shipping label on top. We use PirateShip (free/not promoted) for our labels. Look for my video on weighing in on shipping. I made it just a month or so ago. Thank you Cindy!

Love that! Thank you Laura!
Great video! I usually pass up clear glass so I was happy to see you can make money picking up clear glass. Great video. Love The EAPG deer pitcher
Glad it was helpful! Thank you Karen!
Oh my GOODNESS!! I just found your channel and I am HOOKED! Y'all are absolutely the sweetest couple, what a BLESSING to have a partner in your reselling business. I changed careers in 2021 to follow my heart and began working in a special needs preschool classroom but that came at the expense of a $30k income loss so I started reselling to bring in a little bit extra. I began with vintage hard goods but shipping always made me nervous so I stopped sourcing them but I do love them so. This video has me encouraged to begin looking at them again. I am sure these videos take a lot of time to edit, THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking the time to share your packing methods. I am absolutely confident that your tips are going to help me increase my business and that in turn will help to keep me in the classroom. Shalom Shalom! 🫶🥰
Welcome to our channel and thank you so much for your kind words! Reselling helps us in retirement. Always check your sold comps as it's always changing. I made this video to encourage resellers not to overlook it. Thank you and have fun!
Love seeing some older folks like me doing this. I give a Subscribe! Wishing my husband could take more of an interest. Thanks for the clear glass content!! Very Good! Thanks ❣ Noelle Stiles
Older folks? Who are you calling older folks? LOL. We are "seasoned" sellers. LOL. Welcome to the channel Noelle and thank you!
