    Day 04 of our 31 Days of Guten Gardening Gardening Gift Giving focuses on bringing in our outdoor garden materials that we want (like our GreenStalk vertical garden) to our indoor growing area.
    In this video we talk about how we clean our outdoor garden products in order to make sure that they are sanitized and free from pests and diseases so they don't bring those things into the indoor garden.
    Dealing with disease indoors or a pest infestation indoors is not enjoyable, so you want to make sure you avoid it as much as possible.
    We hope you this video on how to use your GreenStalk gardening system indoors.
    Today's Giveaway winner gets TWO prizes: both of which can be found here if you want to buy your own:
    XLUX Soil Moisture Meter: amzn.to/3FagNtW
    Govee Hygrometer: amzn.to/3Y0uRyF

    I’ve learned my lesson is about bringing plants indoors. I had a bunch of potted plants outside and we were going to get a frost here in Florida. My garage was full so I brought them in my living space. That night there was nothing but chaos because I brought in, lizards, frogs, toads, and those giant flying cockroaches. My cats were going crazy. I don’t think I would ever bring another plant inside again.

    • @GutenGardening
      @GutenGardening  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh my!!! I realize that would be a nightmare, but what a great learning experience. Thank goodness we don't have the lizards and flying cockroaches around here. I would not enjoy that one bit!

    This is a step I have a bad habit of skipping. Brought a lot of spider mites in by mistake, then suddenly had a baby spider get very big very quick and clean up all the spider mites. Those Green Stalk things are cool!
    Off the subject of the video, but I thought it was funny: my son is autistic and I think has a photographic memory to some extent. He saw your green scrub brush at the beginning of the video, screamed "Libman!", then started rummaging through his toys to find his scrub brush.

      I don't know if you have Asian beetles in your area, but we still have some crawling around - a few in our house, garage, and heated barn tack room. I keep putting them on my grow tent, and they have cleaned up the last of the aphids after spraying. I couldn't get them all with just spray alone, as they hide too well.

      We have used DE that has helped a good bit. We have also introduced ladybugs in the past (that we had to buy) into the growing area (since it is closed off from the rest of our house) and that has helped a bunch as well.

      @@GutenGardening Not yet. I bought my first 2 this spring. I’ve only planted pepper and tomatoes so far, only because my Mom and Dad have a huge garden and provide me with more squash and cukes than I can eat and preserve. But I’ve just bought 4 more green stalks because they have a clearance on the Terra Cotta color. So I’m getting ready for potatoes, beets, onions, and some fall and winter greens. I’m excited to see how my season ends! For me, with space restraints, limited time and physical abilities, there was no question that they were gonna be perfect for me. So far I’m not disappointed at all. I can also see how green stalks can be addicting 😂. And it’s made in the USA❤️

  • @CAMDEC1217
    @CAMDEC1217 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you had enough luck with the GreenStalk indoors to make it worth it? How did you handle the water drainage from the bottom so you don't flood your grow tent? Would love your thoughts on this. I brought mine into my basement early March this year where I regularly start my seeds for spring. and allowed the soil to warm some before planting. I did not change out the 1 season old soil but I did amend it with a bit of my own compost and organic fertilizer all blended in to top 4 inches of soil., and planted spinach, kale, and snap peas. Some from seed, some transplants I started under my usual seed starting method.
    I started out with 2 lights (45 watt Aerogarden full spectrum grow lights) just over the top and a week or so later added 2 to the front, one for bottom to middle area and one higher for the middle and top. I rotate it at least once a day so the back gets some light. The temp in the basement is anywhere from 55-60 and pretty much stays that way consistently. 3 weeks later I added silver bubble wrap walls to the top, bottom, back and sides hoping to raise the temp some. The plants are coming but seem to be struggling or maybe I am expecting to much too fast.
    I was initially watering pockets separately but yesterday watered from top and was not consistent enough making sure the plastic drain tube was empty and it backed up and leaked. Lesson learned. Even though the plants are cold loving I think the soil may still be too cold. They are growing but slow and some like the peas are struggling and the lettuce never germinated. I don't know if my experience is just trial and error and I might still be on the side of error? I have been gardening for years and would love to have produce all year in my Southern NH home. I would love to hear back on your experience to be sure I am not wasting my efforts.

    Hi! I have a Lettuce Grow in though I love it it was extremely expensive. I would love to grow some more plants and this is the first time seeing of the green stock. However, you are literally the first person on TH-cam, who shows that you can plant it inside. Can I plant anything inside as long as it gets some sun? Thank you :-)

    • @GutenGardening
      @GutenGardening  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for asking, and great question. I don't know if I would say you could plant anything with only sunlight. We have our under grow lights, and I do think you would have to do a lot of rotating if you only have sunlight, as some plants would likely need more direct light. That being said, if you have enough grow lights and space, I think your options for what you can grow are pretty wide open. I hope that helps answer your question. Have a wonderful day!

    You didn't explain what to do with the water drain tube. Not all of us are bringing it "indoors" to a greenhouse because we live in the frozen tundra and can't afford to heat a greenhouse!

    What steps do you take to deal with water overflow indoors?

      We have done a couple things but lately we have taken the wheels off one of the movers and added a layer of bricks underneath, connected the hose to the mover, and then used a container to catch any water runoff. Does that make sense?

      We are so fortunate not to have dealt extensively with Leaf Hoppers. Very fortunate.

      @@GutenGardening the worse, little vampires that piggie back on ants like Ubers looking for their sugar excretion like a junkie that looks like drizzle ugh from every tree! It's horrible!!!! I wish I was being overly dramatic but here in the forest .... And we had two outbreaks this year!!!! I luckily spot the aphids but the leaf hoppers are like torrential rain.
