    PHP also has Laravel and this is MVC pattern where code is always well structured talking about subscriptions, Effective ORM (Object Relational Mapping),Libraries & Modular and many more... most of all you wont be scratching youre head while deploying nodejs projects with dependency errors!! laravel is very stable talking about Hosting.

    You can use the cluster module of NodeJs for CPU intensive tasks. I've been using it for a few months. I'm getting a considerable increase in performance that I need critically for background processes.

    And with php 7 and also php 8 is comming , Php's speed has increased significantly and most of php's weaknesses has been covered. So I say the future is still unknown ... I'm quit optimistic about php.

About almost 5 years i also panicked while hearing the php was over and node was going to sweep across the entire world web but php improved alot eversince and has performed even better than before . You cited excellent examples of php frameworks which are still dominating more than 70% of world wide web. Php has persevered and will stand its ground I am sure...So carry on working with this great programming tool.

    I think "Actual costs" should have been splitted to "Development costs" and "Runtime costs" to separate runtime costs from development costs which should consider average pay level of developers. And for development costs high cost is better if you're a developer (more money for you) but worse if you're owner of the company (more expensive technology for the same results).

    Javascript only good for one thing and only that : handling high traffic APIs, like the website of ministry of education that shows high school resultats of all the country at once.
    Besides this Javascript environment is shitty in genral, no tools to develop quickly that's why all web agencies prefer PHP and that's why 80% of ecommerce websites are built with PHP.

  • @AnttiTolamo
    @AnttiTolamo 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    My experience is that nodejs is far more complex to code well than PHP. There are far more complex library depencides, far more varying syntax, far more to things to jump over because asynchronous nature of JS.
    JS easier to setup as server, easier to put up development enviroment. But when complexity grows so does the need of developer to correctly understand JS syntax, scopes and its features. As does the need to write additional code to kill the asynchronous nature of JS and handle library/module depencies.
    Because that I would do exactly opposite. I would take Nodejs for easy and small projects. But for more complex I would take PHP. Because my subjective experience is that nodejs grows in complexity far more faster than PHP further you go. Its just when you do small projects and setup development enviroment it feel easier. Which it is.

Having said that I've coded php so it only sends the changes to the frontend all from the back end don't have to worry about promises and states as PHP has sessions already. Works like a dream perfect single page application. Also completely SEO friendly. Best of both world.

    For a non IT company website, php with Laravel, is the best choise. I don't mind to pay php MySQL developer like a Node.js developer. Because (s)he saves my costs on other area. Hosting, Devop Engineer etc.
    Please don't hate me. I love Vanilla CSS. I hate Bootsprap.
