After having all the stuff in a closet for 5 years, I decided to pull it out and put it together and start flying. I am a complete noob with electric and I would have never been able to figure it all out (still figuring it out) without this particular video. Thank you so much for putting out a video for someone who is completely starting from scratch. Much appreciated. Mike from Texas

This post is old. I'm guess I'm old. RC has come a long way from what I remember. Crystal radios and the like. How far we've come, just the fact that you can click on TH-cam and instantly get all this info is pretty amazing. Kids don't know how good they have it. Thanks for getting me back into the hobby Josh & Flight Test! You guys do some pretty boss crashing, I mean flying heh heh.

Yes. I still have my first RC radio, a Pulse Commander single channel (rudder only), but the plane, a 2T with .049 was thrown away about ten years ago,. The nitro fuel had turned the balsa to mush near the firewall, and the covering discoloring and cracking and peeling from storage. Kept the 'ol .049. Lots of hours watching that tail wag! I'm not going to dig the radio out of storage now, but I believe it was crystal, 27 mhz, as was the Heathkit 8 channel built from a kit. Still works too! But its not legal anymore, wideband. I was tempted to use the micro 1205 servos again. I know who built them. ;-) But they are four wire instead of three. And now a 9 or 12 gram with metal gears can be had for

Airborne the radian is great! I have the full sized, I have had a 2.5 hour flight on it with thermals! The old equipment is hard to get rid of anymore. Everybody wants the new electric stuff. I have a .91 nitro trainer for sale. It does not want to sell. It stinks.

Yep..no more days of ease like just plugging in a frequency color coded chip and fly the color on your antenna and..BOOM!...you are bound and RTF. 40 yrs of rc and now I am usually somewhat lost in the tech..lol

It may be an old post, yes i am old now but it is the only one I have seen that has helped me to get the throttle/motor to work full stop. I do look at the videos often and really enjoy what Flite Test put out. Thanx Josh, really helpful for us UK builders.

At last. As a newbie I have been a tad confused by some of the electronics and other videos try to explain, but somehow I still couldn't work it out. This video is fantastic as it shows the correct way to connect everything up, in a neat concise manner. I can now go ahead with my P38L and get it finished. Well done Josh

I think these types of videos are very useful. Great presentation Josh.
The direction of the prop depends if you are facing forward or aft when looking for CW or CCW.
Sometimes a mechanical reversing of the servo is also possible by removing the arm and putting it back on 180 degree. If you have the linkage clearance this can be another option.

Josh, one of my buddies lost three fingers on his left hand due to an IED blast in AFG, he is asked all the time what happened. He tells kids he used to pick his nose and his fingers rotted off. Lol. Much respect for you, buddy. Keep up the good, hard work and who cares HOW your hands appear? I didn't tune in to watch HAND MODELS.

I was hoping for the same. I have a KK board coming and hopefully will have all the motors and ESC's shortly as well. Going for a hex since I want to do video with it primarily and not so much aerobatics. My main question would be the P and I functions more than their settings. Seems like everyone has settings but I have yet to find out what they actually mean and do.

Hi guys, I agree with a lot of the other comments on how to set up the HK KK2 board,it could be a bit confusing on how to set it up, ie the P and the I gain, or maybe how to flash it with V1.5 firmware etc. It's a great board for the buck but with all of the functions it has it could be intimidating for some, Thanks keep up the good work!

Josh, you must have read my mind .. Just got my Bixler 2 yesterday and was scratching my head while trying to figure out how the electronics go together. I went with a Hobbyking set (receiver, ESC..). This video helped me a lot, now I just have to figure out what the numbers on the receivers respond to. The little manual does not have a list in it and so far I couldn't find anything..

A great vid for us noobs. Thanks. I really liked the tape on the prop to get the direction of spin. What a great idea. If I could humbly submit a request: it would be a short "flight tip" on doing the same thing for a pusher prop. I am still confused as to what direction should be what! Keep up the awesome work.

I understand. The turning point for RCP was when they realized how easy and profitable PDF files and e-books are to sell. If I remember correctly, the whole YT thing was Val's idea. I now own 2 KK 2.0 boards, but I've got to agree setting up the first was a bit of fun. Would be great to see a vid just on setting up a KK 2.0 with an H-Quad. Would also be good to see how to flash some F-20A ESC's with Simon K's firmware as well to complete a really cost effective build. Have a general "Things you can flash" episode. Dress David up as Flash Gordon, have a 60's flashback show.

So typically with the 3 channel planes like the ones in the 3 pack kit do you plug the rudder servo into the aileron plug on the receiver? It seems like this would allow one to use the right stick to control the rudder.

    • @elexoflyer9363

  • @1Wolf2Love
    @1Wolf2Love 12 ปีที่แล้ว

I would like to point out that you should disconnect the battery from the ESC prior to swapping motor leads to change motor rotation, especially if you have braking enabled as this could damage the braking control circuit on the ESC. It's also an all around good safety practice.

Hello Josh. This video was helpful. I am scratch building a Boeing 737-800. I am at the point of putting in servos and making the elevators. I can not find a video that shows how to connect the all. The landing gear is fixed should I get a 6 channel remote and receiver? Also, i was told at the local hobby shop and they said I had to build and then weigh to know what type of motor. How can I weigh my plane to know what type of edf's to use? I'm a fairly new subscriber and I built the ft-22. My nephew loves it. Is there any videos I can watch to teach me how to wire this thing up?

Also, what if you're building a twin engine plane? Do you need a receiver with 2 throttle outputs? Or can you splice the one set of throttle outputs to go to 2 separate ESCs (one for each motor)? Or can you have both motors driven by one ESC by splicing the sets of motor wires?

    • @Jniorcast

+Hungry Guy What you can do Is get something called a Y-splitter which splits say for example the throttle pins instead of one connection port you then have two and they can be simultaneously throttling.

2.How does the electronics works, for example if i have motor of 3-4 cell 500w max, can i get the 500w with 3s lipo and what will chane if i put 4s lipo, if i put higher amp ESC will it fry my motor?
