The 1970s were the BEST of times, it was the 1960s perfected and before the 1980s exaggerated self-narcissistic “look at me industrial complex” era began.
It literally was "the best of times." This era was my childhood -- I was 10 years old when this song came out and started playing at our local Skate-Inn. MAN, was this song ever fun to skate to!! SOooo where's that time machine?? I wanna go back and let my daughter experience what life was like when it was still good! :P
Vicki Sue Robinson had one of the great disco hit of that era that she nailed the vocal on but more importantly it was just a good tune. RIP Vicki Sue Robinson.
I love this songgg. Played it blasting driving around here in NYC from the bronx, to queens , to manhattan. Im living in “ the good old days “ right now.
Agreed; I was in high school when Vickie Sue's version hit the airwaves and I thought it could never be duplicated but then came along Gloria Estefan and she nailed it. Too bad it came from a lousy Sly Stallone movie.
My Oldest Sister Veronica was born 1976, February 28,1976 Puerto Rican, Spanish, Latino, Puerto Rican the Bronx, New York. She from new York, she Puerto Rican.
So y'all gon act like you don't see Jeffrey daniels (Shalamar) at 3"04 in the pink/red jumpsuit come to the front a d start dancing with Vickie Sue and then at 3:08 give us a GLIMPSE of what will become his signature dance....THE MOONWALK!
For many, this national broadcast was the first time they'd actually seen real disco moves. It was also the beginning of the backlash when they tried to reproduce them and wound up in the emergency room!
A few years later a load of Homer Simpson lookalikies publicly burnt records of this music while chanting the words 'DISCO SUCKS'... Thank God the likes of Frankie Knuckles and Larry Levan had different ideas.
@@gummy5862 Why is that important? You totally miss the point the person was making which is that Vicki Sue Robinson touched everyone no matter who with her talent. Did I help you understand the point? Your welcome!
urning the Beat around is a serious offence in the eyes and ears of professional musicians. One time my dad was playing some jazz with a few folks and the bass player turned the beat around on accident and all the other musicians stopped playing and immediately killed the bass player. They take it seriously and they will swarm like a pack of wolves if necessary. This kind of thing happens all the time in the industry and it never gets reported. You have to be in the know.
I loved THIS SONG in 1976 - and still do! RIP VICKI SUE!
What do you remember the most about the 70’s? What cities were you living in in the 70?
Man Jerry was holding his own there for a while with the Soul Train Dancers!😄
Vickie Sue Robinson (R.I.P.) created the very best disco composition of all with this piece.

I'd give anything to return to the 70's. What a great time to be young! I loved it!
