Fubuki is his older brother. The fubuki never hurt the Ibuki. Momoko is well aware of that. As a mother, she has always actively protected Ibuki in real dangerous moments, and she judges Ibuki's crying depending on the circumstances. So I hope you don't think too badly of it. It's the way chimps age fubuki play with their younger siblings. Fubuki grew up with these ways of playing to Gin, Max and Bonbon when he was young. Fubuki never hurts or kills Ibuki.
For some reason I read the comments before I watched the video. They made me think Fubuki had gotten EXTEMELY rough with his little brother. Which would have suprised me. What I saw was a couple gentile slaps on Ibuki's butt which didn't even buckle his legs as he was running. Decky didn't react as Ibuki ran to him. When ibuki ran screaming and Fubuki caught him, Fubuki gives Ibuki the reassurance hug from behind. Ibuki seems to be playing a little game of, "Decky, come rescue me". Ibuki was not at all scared, nor were his screams out of fear. More like I don't want to play with you. That is why Momoko didn't come running. Nor did Peach or Decky react to Fubuki's slaps on Ibuki's back. Chimps understand their language and posture way better than we can ever interpret. Fubuki loves Ibuki and he would be the first one to protect Ibuki if say, Sakura was to slap him some day and make him scream. There are different levels and sounds to there screams. Just like when Decky screams running after Fubuki. No one reacts because they know it just the game of tag between them. When Gin or Max slaps Decky, his screams become higher pitched and Nana or Peco come running to back him up. To me, it is a similar thing in which Ibuki was doing today. ibuki will just become a tough little chimp like he is destined to be.

@@grace-M - Thanks Grace and I'm glad we connected on the issue. Sometimes it is hard to not take a side against a certain chimp because we all have our favorites. For me it is hard to see good qualities in Cherry, yet she has her moments with Fubuki or Ibuki that are pretty cute. It was hard to feel the same way I once did about Bonbon after he attacked Decky, the most gentle soul for a chimp I have ever seen. Yet Bonbon was doing what comes natural to him and it's not his fault that Decky doesn't fully understand that he needs to submit to the alpha male or be attacked and overthrown. Probably hard for Decky because he had no previous thought of contending or fighting with Bonbon. Sometimes people seem to forget the true God given nature of wild chimps and how tough they have to be thrive. People out of the goodness of their hearts naturally want to protect the weak. It just doesn't work that way for chimps as only the strong survive. Young chimps as you know love to be chased and play rough. Fubuki doesn't do the things he does out of a mean spirit as much as he wants to play. Yet he may seem like a mean bully to people that really don't understand chimps and humanize them. I get it. Who wants to see gentile little Ibuki get slapped. But he's fine and in this upcoming year people may think he is a little brat because he is throwing sticks at Peco. ;) It certainly is fascinating to try and understand them.
Nothing here besides a big brother playing rough with his little brother, he likes to terrify Ibuki here and there, but what big brother doesn't. When Ibuki got scared and curled up against the wall, what did Fubuki do? He gave him a reassuring hug, all I need to see to know this is all a game amongst family. Was Ibuki scared? Yes, did Fubuki get scared by Gin and Max when he was Ibuki's age? Yes.
Starting at 9:52, this got really tough to watch. I've never seen any other young chimps or orangutans get attacked like that in any vids from Tama. Ibuki was terrified, as Fubuki went after him over and over again. Perhaps he was he thought it was playing, but I don't think so. Fubuki new their mother wasn't around to protect poor little Ibuki, which was why didn't let up in his attacks. I'm a bit dissapointed with Momoko. How could she not hear those desperate cries and screams coming from Ibuki. I'm not saying she has to be right next to Ibuki all the time, like Peach is with Plum, but can't she at least stay close enough to hear him? Where was she?
I'm so dissapointed in Momoko too. Ibuki cries his lungs out and she doesn't react. These attacks were vicious. Imagine he would do this with Plum. Poor little Ibuki, I'm so sad he must go through this.

You must remember, our standard and Chimpanzee's standard are very different. When Fubuki goes too rough, Decky, Momoko, Mikan, Nana, Max, Gin, Peach, even Cherry interfere and Fubuki gets scolded often these days. Ibuki also asks Fubuki to play with him a lot recently and they play hours sometimes. Ibuki really loves him. I am no expert of apes, but I go to observe them 7 hours a day and almost every day and I often talk with staff about them. Fubuki is a kid who loves mischief just like any other children. Talk about rough, I have seen many wild chimpanzee being seriously rough and aggressive on documentary films and I have read many books about them. Fubuki is far less aggressive knowing he is a chimpanzee, and he is not a human being. This is not about your comment, but when I keep reading harsh comments about Fubuki, I seriously feel this maybe time to stop uploading videos since my purpose of sharing video is to understand animal behaviors. Instead I keep getting aggressive comments about Fubuki, and some of viewers wish Fubuki getting killed or asking to get rid of him which I delete immediately. Some of viewers seems to watch just to criticize rather than understanding their behavior. When I feel there are people who just watch to criticize or write harsh comments about animals or my filming technique, I am more than willing to stop uploading in order to be fair with animals and I will leave them in peace. This is just my opinion. I am getting tired of reading unfriendly comments abou my beloved animals after standing and filming 7 hours a day and make me wonder whether this is worth to upload.

Six month without my beloved Tama chimps were kind of boring and I am so glad you are back filming again. I can only speak for myself but I care very much about these chimps. I saw little Ibuki grew up. I saw his first steps on these tiny skinny legs, watched his brachiation and his very kind and social interaction with the other chimps. When it comes to Ibuki I'm kind of a human Peach. And when you have 18 chimps (hope I'm right) to watch you recognize their different behavior after a while. First days I coudln't even tell them apart. Now I have some chimps I really like a lot because they are very kind and relaxed ( like Decky, Gin, Miru, Nana etc) or a bit strange like Sakura. It's normal and it's human that there are also some chimps I don't like. First name who comes to my mind is cherry. I understand you watch a lot more of their interaction than we are. I admit I'm a little bit jealous about that :) I can only judge by the videos I watch. Yours and the videos of caramelribbon. And in these videos Ibuki is most of the time scared of Fubuki. I was really surprised when I read they play a lot together. I would love to watch these two playing together without Ibukis screams. And....and this is important. I don't hate Fubuki or Momoko who is in my mind lethargic. That would be strange. It's like with my nephew who are in puberty. I love them but I shake my head regulary about their behaviour. And whats most important: don't stop filming :)

Luckily Clever Ibuki went to Decky to stay with him. Decky protected Ibuki from Fubuki and chased Fubuki.

I hate to say it, but sometimes I kinda want to see Fubuki get smacked by the other chimps. He can be such a brat.
