I was “TH-cam ported” time traveled to my childhood living on Tropic of Cancer Beach. We were the only house on the beach, the only people for miles. The quiet beauty on land and in the water. The history that is part of the island: The people whose families were brought here as slaves, have inhabited this land since the revolutionary war and have treated the land and water with respect, and love. visitors and transplants are greeted with open arms. You have captured it all. Thank you.
Sounds amazing! Growing up there, it would have been a different island! It's changed so much already since we started going in 2008! Glad you think I captured that essence...thanks! mark
I have many stories of 3 generations ago. Many of the people my age are the mover and the island now, grew up without running water. cars were the exception. there was no bridge only a barge that went across to Great Exuma.we had many visitors that would come to talk with my parents to express that the bridge was going to corrupt their kids . The fear was the fast life in GeorgeTown would corrupt them and they would loose their values. Have you seen the wall that was built by slave which run From the North along our property to the South side. Mom of Moms bakery is one of story tellers of what was and what was and what is. places . Perhaps if we are ever there at the same time, you could film the historic places. We need more story tellers or Little Exuma will loose all its spirit.
Another spectacular piece! Thanks! Never been to the Bahamas. Got “comp’ed” 2 round trip flights with Silver Airways and trying to figure out which islands they fly to, to visit. From my TH-cam searches, Exuma seems to be calling my name!
Very nicely done Mark, brings back some memories too. In 1973 (can that be 49 years ago?) I spent two months in the Bahamas, most of it on Stocking island across from Georgetown Exuma in a lovely house that belonged to my friend Sir John Whitmore. Unforgettable!
Very nice! We just discovered Exuma in April 2022 and have now been twice with a third trip planned for Spring of 2023! Where did you find the dolphins?! We have yet to see any. We also like to seek out the secluded "secret" beaches.
Looks like you both had a fantastic time!!! Wish to be there next time. You got some superb aerial and submersed views. Dolphins are new spotting aren't they? Love the clips going through the structures makes you feel like you're there. Each trip looks more epic than the previous!
Thanks Steve! Yeah I was only supposed to shoot a little bit but ended up shooting a lot!! The dolphins were a random sighting and only stayed a few minutes swimming beside me! They're usually swimming in & around the harbour but on this occasion they were real close to shore! Looks more epic than last time but we actually probably did less...taking it easy but had to shoot different stuff to avoid a repeat of 2017/2019!!
What a fabulous video! Wow! We are heading to exuma in three weeks, and are renting a boat for 2 of our 7 days there. Do you have any recommendations about where we should explore? We just want to take it all in and do some good snorkeling.
If you're getting a boat from Minns, you're 'restricted' to the harbour, so I like to go right to one end of Stocking Island, and stop at whatever beach I like the look of for a while, then move on slowly making my way up the island! That's 2 days easily as there's some gorgeous beaches that you'll have to yourself. The other side, the Atlantic side is epic too, rougher water but stunning! You don't need the boat to reach any beaches on the main island so dont waste it for that, as you can use your car! Minns will give you a map of the area where you can find decent snorkeling...it's not the best in the world, but there's some decent reefs! The beaches on Little Exuma and around Moriah Harbour are the best on the island! Enjoy!
Fantastic video. We are from the UK and are considering getting to Exuma as we love the Out Islands we've already been to Cat/Long/Eleuthera islands. Any tips where to stay, also where were the beaches on your video they were amazing Look forward to hearing from you. Nick
hey nick, thanks for the comment...glad you like the highlight clip! You've been to Cat/LI/Eleuthera so you know the score! You'll find Exuma different but similar in places! Anything you read on main forums/instagram are for the 'busy' popular beaches like Tropic of Cancer etc. Those beaches are by far anything but the best. The best beaches require a boat or paddling to or finding yourself...some are in this video & my other clips on my channel! Not to push anywhere in particular but you'll love BayView Villas where we stayed...we stay there everytime we're in Exuma. It's near the best beaches, has a beautiful waterfront location that changes with the tide. It's pretty secluded too so you wont see many people around! Search for it on FlipKey as that's where the owner rents it from. Most of the beaches in this clip in particular are around the Moriah Harbour/Man O war area, all kayakable from BayView Villas! My other clips have more of these beaches & a few others dotted around Little Exuma!
This video and song integration was well done!

You can't go wrong with any of the Bahamian out-islands!

Thanks Paul-Henri! 2008 Exuma was much different, I can only imagine what it was like in the 70s! Heaven on Earth! Hope you’re keeping well.

Hi I have never been.Which island do you recommend for 2 females to enjoy beach, seafood & R&R?thank you from Vermont
Nice video. Were the sharks you filmed dangerous?
For the most part no, but like any wild animals, let them do their thing & don't annoy them or who knows!
