  • Let me explain to you what time-sensitive notifications are on iPhone, what it means, why you can see them and what are some things you can do about it. Of course, there are some settings pages and areas where you can customize it so this is the topic of this video.
Hope you found this video valuable.

You explain better than apple but I still want to clarify: There is focus mode, and when an app is asking to be time sensitive it actually asks to be allowed pass the silencing in focus?

I still don’t get it. Aren’t all text messages supposed to come in immediately …. Like right now? I mean are they going to wait to send the message 5 minutes later if you don’t have time sensitive in? So does this mean that the time sensitive notifications means they are going to TELL you sooner that you have a message? But for real it still doesn’t make sense. I mean they should notify you immediately anyway. Right? Is the phone going be like, “ oh they don’t have time sensitive on so let’s just wait 5 minutes before we tell them that the hubby wants to go for ice cream! Why do we really need this? We don’t right? Someone help.

Not sure if this helps: for me in for example “Do Not Disturb” mode I turn off all my notifications except form specific people (same in the sleep mode). These notifications I let through are “Time sensitive” I want them immediately. However, for other messages like emails I’m happy to have them bunches together to sort out later at a preferred time. I set up a focus mode that I call “study” where I let more things through but want a quiet notification rather than a sound and I let through any contact’s call immediately (time sensitive) and also let though notifications from selected apps.
It’s worth playing with the settings. There’s a level of personalisation that’s one of the reasons I’ve moved from android to iOS for my main phone after a lifetime of being mainly android. I can get done tuned personalisation for my needs this way.
