Everyone keeps mentioning the lack of stadium, but that is not the only issue. It’s travel and costs, esp those of non rev sports. It’s NIL and media rights. It’s competition and product. Hawaii lacks in every single category.
Alola stadium was the second largest stadium in the mountain west if that still was kept maintained and Hawaii would have the second largest stadium in the pac 12
UH Manoa going to Pullman in late October or November for a football game at WSU? Do you know what you are asking? Locals put on parkas at 60-deg. Snow could start flying at Halloween at Martin Stadium. WSU is remote for a Division I program. There's also the 90-minute drive from Spokane because the Pullman/Moscow Airport cannot accommodate anything larger than an E175 or the 45-minute drive from Lewiston, ID. (That's in good weather) As an Hawaiian ex-pat & WAZZU alum, UH is in for a character-building trip if they choose to join the PAC.
UH has played in colder climates than Pullman before. And there were/are WAC and Mountain West cities that are just as isolated as Pullman. But I know what you're getting at.
You know people can walk and chew gum at the same time. Do you realize the millions more in TV money the school would get? It currently gets I believe $6.5 million and the CW contract the Pac-12 is negotiating is said to be in the $12-$15 million range per team.
@@deanfirnatine7814 UH needs to take out about a 500million dollar loan and build a stadium then they can come to the civilized peoples table. Nobody is going to give them a handout for existing, they need to make actual moves if they want to be relevant. UH is stuck in a California mindset, thinking because you have a beach front you deserve a place at the table.
It may just happen with UNLV and Air Force taking that massive sack of money to stay in the MWC, Pac-12 plan C may be to go after schools like Hawaii and make it impossible for the MWC to even survive, I think that is why Utah State got the invite. Hawaii does have a couple assets, besides being a rich recruiting ground it has Honolulu and the lifeblood of current day college football is TV Markets size.
WHY is the mayor dabbling in things that shouldn't concern him? The University of Hawaii is a STATE entity. Blangiardi works for the CITY. The guy cannot even clean up Chinatown; he cannot straighten out the Department of Planning and Permitting; hasn't improved the homeless crisis; he hasn't solved the police departments recruiting problems; he has a disastrous mass transit construction problem; can't even keep public parks and recreation centers in working order. Heck he can't even keep up with the pot holes on city streets, and he wants to stick his nose into UH football business??? Geeezus!
U.H. is closer to becoming a Division II program. The inadequate stadium is bad enough, and not getting built until the wishful think date of 2028; a date that's gotten moved back from the initial 2023. And by scheduling slouches like Delaware State and Northern Iowa...really?!?! And hey want to be worthy of the PAC 12. Lastly, who's going to offset the travel cost of flying entire visiting teams to Hawaii for games?!?! That's travel cost for approx. seven home games per season. Maybe we got to get onto FanDuel and take bets that this ain't gonna happen. WISHFUL THINKING!
How about just downgrade Hawaii to the FCS. They're not even G5 FBS caliber anymore. Terrible facilities, weak NIL, trash team, Travel cost is insane, dirty city, etc. Hawaii is just a tourist attraction and easy win for the big schools that are incapable of making a bowl game. Just do away with football already. All of the best of Hawaii and Samoa go play in the mainland anyway.

UH doesn’t even have a stadium, they have a field with some bleachers.
So does Northwestern and they’re in the Big Ten
yup northwestern just demolished their stadium making a new one hawaii hasnt demolished aloha stadium yet but im sure its in the process
You lost when June Jones left 😂😂😂😂😂
UH does not have a stadium that is compliant with division 1 standards.

Hawaii to the Pac-12 makes so much sense. The islands are literally in the Pacific Ocean.
They lucky enough to even be in the mountain west and get a decent cut of the media payout.

The mountain west is TWO teams shy for fbs status because you can’t include football only members in that
There are numerous serious problems more deserving of his attention.

And what? Go winless in the conference? Yeah, good idea, mayor!!!😂
Hawaii has tons of homegrown talent, most of my life Hawaii was a program no one wanted to play, tons of upsets.
@deanfirnatine7814 doesn't matter because the head coach has no fucking clue what he's doing

This is laughable. UH will be lucky to hang on to its Division 1 status and stay included in the Mtn. West conference.
UH needs to just drop football
Sorry but that won't happen.
