If you want to save, definitely look out for Carrefour offers, and timing these with your monthly shopping will save you a LOT.
Absolutely! Thanks for the tips.
Great. You're localizing well. You should try to find an open air market for fresh produce supplies.
Thank you! We are definitely feeling like this is home with each day. We are also looking forward to shopping the open markets soon.
That's a smaller Quickmart, the gas station stores is what we have in the neighbourhoods as mini marts aka small supermarkets or convenience stores as the case may be. Stoney tangawizi has a ginger kick that travels all the way to your nostrils. Take your first gulp with care 😂.
Thanks for the warning! ⚠️ 🤣
Get a local. He/she will take you to fresh produce market and you will get fresh juice makers. For example down the road from the Westlands Quickmart supermarket you will see Westlands County market. There you will find fresh juice makers and sellers.
Our local friends have plans to take us to some places they shop. Also, thanks for the recommendation.
While I was visiting there is a grocery store located at the Yaya Shopping Center, there you will find freshly squeeze orange, cane and passion juice, and several other juices. You can try next time you go shopping.
Is the grocery store where you saw the fresh juice Chandarana?
@@TravelCheckIns I think so, can't remember the name. Two grocery stores on the first floor. I stayed in Kileleshwa and YAYA mall was about 10 mins ride by Uber. Actually the guy was right there inside the store making the juices.
Thanks! We recently bought fresh juice at a place called Juiceee in Sarit Center that was good. We will look for the one in Yaya next time we're there.
@@TravelCheckIns 👍
Try Zucchini, which is a green grocery store and you may get other green related stuff ,fresh 100 PCT juice as well.
Perfect to hear the food in kenya has no preservative thats a healthy food ..
For the most part yes! If we buy carbonated beverages, US based products or some imported products those will still have preservatives. It is however, easier to shop here since majority of the groceries are preservative free and even more so if you grocery shop with the locals.
Our foods are from farm to the plate.
No preservatives like you have in the States.
Sodas here have less sugar than the ones over there.
It is very true about the sodas. Pepsi here had 11 grams of sugar compared to the same size in the US that has 44 grams. The difference in taste is evident for us.
A lot of food stuff in Kenya are mainly organic and preserves free
@@TravelCheckIns 44?? Woah!
You should go to Parklands. They have walmart there. It's called Massmart.
Same as walmart.
👍🏾
Y'all blending in so well in Nairobi ❤
Thanks!
Walmart for Sout Africa and Kenya are called MassMart.
Thanks for the feedback
👍🏾
wonder how often ppl. have told Germaine he looks like Paul pierce. Good content always.
We heard Arsenio Hall and Dr. Dre, but never Paul Pierce. Now we can’t unsee it. 🤣
next time go to carrefour at sarit centre... you'd love it
@@davidbismark5464 we’ve been there a few times since filming this video. Thanks!
Asante... keep going ma'am
We appreciate you!
Can I live in south africa 🇿🇦 or Kenya 🇰🇪 on 3700 usd a monthly comfortable
You can live in luxury in Kenya on that budget. Check out our Kenya budget videos where we detail our expenses.
We been in Mombasa for 5 months now we spend around 1500 comfortable a month. 2 bedroom rent is $700 plus $80 in electric.
Definitely😅 you might even save some.
A very comfortable life and extra for a nice vacation every month.
AS A KENYAN IN EUROPE. I'D SAY YOU WILL LIVE LUXURIOUS LIFE. Which work are you doing, do that I might apply as well 😅. $3700 is a good deal.
You should have gone to Naivas they have alot of offers
Just went today!
Beyond fruit for the 100% juice
I’ve haven’t see that brand yet
try carrefour at sarit
👍🏾
Very cool
Thanks for watching!
Hello. Thanking The Lord for now recovering Germaine and sustaining you. 90% of Kenyans shop once a month, cos they are paid monthly for the nonperishables. But weekly for vegetables. Hope you get a juicer one day
We praise God for Germaine's recovery with you! We have some Kenya friends who we've asked about their shopping habits and they have been helping us get accustomed to living here. They shop daily for what they need to cook. They say the butchers and produce stands are right outside of their apartments. We love that for them! We are definitely in agreement with you on getting a juicer. We had one in our home in the states and miss it. We appreciate your feedback. Many blessings to you.
Hello Fam.
Seems like you love passion juice.
Look for Del Monte brand. The best.
Also try their Mango Orange and pineapple, or mixed juices.
I do love passion juice. It seems harder to find than other flavors. We don’t see the 100% juice option at Carrefore where we shop more often. We will try the mixed juices as well. We’ve been getting some fresh squeezed mixed beverages at Carrefore that have been good. We’ve tried one with beet root that was really good.
@@TravelCheckIns try naivas supermarket chain they have specialised food market stores but sometimes they exist as sections within their larger supermarkets, their fresh juice options are very diverse, you can find 100% fresh juice options there, also try the other specialised food market stores like Zucchini.
@@TravelCheckIns Passion fruit is in very high demand both locally and internationally.
Yes, sometimes it's hard to find the fruit, but the shortage will be for a short time.
Glad you guys had a good shopping experience.
I was wondering why we don’t see 100% passion fruit at the grocery stores as much as the other fruits. Thanks for the feedback.
Thank you! We are attempting to visit all of the most popular grocery stores in Nairobi at least once. Naivas is next on our list.
❤❤
Thank you 😊
Also be buying from local markets women Abit cheaper
That’s on the list of things to do
Just to clarify... They're not always cheaper😅
@@ringringring1718 True, I recently compared tomatoes I got from Carrefour on sale and they were WAY more than the ones I get from the market.
@@TravelCheckIns there is markit market which is near CBD, kindly dress down when you go there. Also put your fancy phone away and you will be good. They might hike price when they hear accent so on your first trip, go with a local
4:42 Tanga... what??? 😂😂😂 💙💙
😂 How is it correctly pronounced?
@@TravelCheckIns tanga-weezy
Thank you! ☺️
@@TravelCheckIns You'll get there with time. Just remember Kiswahili is 100% phonetic language, all letters and words are pronounced as they are written. Every syllable assumes a staccato rhythm and there are no silent letters in words.
I love that about the Kiswahili language. Thanks for the feedback.
Ceres is 150$
When we see it it’s usually about 450
Pay for toll??? In Kenya are for real?? Like seriously, a Kenyan I disagree with you on this..
The Uber drivers have to pay a fee to exit some parking lots in Nairobi. Toll, fee or whatever it’s called, the driver didn’t want to pay it.
They mean the parking fee paid at malls...
What do you mean you disagree????it's on every mall/supermarket...
They are charged when they go through those gates.
The express way , you pay tolls, some malls you will pay a parking fee.
Quick mart is not like a gas station,I’m also in westlands. If you’re looking for for a normal size grocery go to carrefour stores, the biggest is at junction mall in Kilimani…and that ginger soda is tangawizi, not tangawazi.I’m American just like you.Drop that attitude.
Why are you making up issues? We just got here a little over a month ago. Please leave that stuff in America. Thank you.
Don't be too hard on our visitors. We want them to explore all the positives and negatives and eventually settle down in Kenya.
Why you tripping PooKeisha .
I have lived in the states for a long and can’t pronounce some things. They just went to Kenya a month ago and you expect perfection? Wacha saltiness wewe.
@@TravelCheckInsrelax, Kenyans are nice but you will encounter one or two or these as your vlogs grow.
Aya nao kurirarira thogora atheni a amerika😂
Swahili please😂
