Hot take: I actually feel really sorry for dean in this situation (with zeke and lying to sam and also cas) coz he’s just trying to do what he always does- protect sam. (Not saying that kicking cas out/having sam unconsensually possessed aren’t bad, they’re terrible, but i feel like dean is trying to do is best in a bad situation)
This was one of the hardest episodes for me to swallow. Maybe Cas couldn't stay, but I just do not believe Dean would kick Cas to the curb with NOTHING, and I've never been able to make peace with that part of this season's storyline. This isn't a recommendation for you, Shelley, because of spoilers for the rest of the season, but for anyone else who was dissatisfied with this particular storyline, BobWess (who also has an SPN themed TH-cam channel) has a story posted on AO3, "Only Human," that is a Season 9 rewrite in which Dean doesn't throw human Cas out of the bunker. It is extremely well-written, not overly "fanish" (if you know what I mean), and worth checking out.
THANK YOU! I'll never say no to a good fanfic recommendation. I've read the beginning of the first chapter and it seems promising so far. And it's long! 😂 I love those long epic stories that are literally longer than books you can find in stores. I'm actually just finishing up a rather long, absolutely breathtakingly amazing story (also Destiel) called "A turn of the earth" by an author microcomets. So if you ever run out of things to read... 😆
@@Eris_Norregard I will absolutely check that one out - thanks! If we're talking long fics, dare I ask if you've read Down to Agincourt, the infamous million word story? My biggest complaint with that one is it shows up on A03 as "complete" because it's actually written in several books and the first several are complete, but she has more planned for the overall story arc so the whole thing really is not complete and she hasn't updated in a while. That said, I've read what is there twice. It's actually better the 2nd time. The first time thru - first book in particular - I experienced a lot of I'm-sorry-say-what-now??? moments. LOL. But it's got some awesome moments and some wonderful new characters I just fell in love with.

I mean, the longest I've read so far was somewhere around 350 000 I think? 😆 The longest complete work I have in my bookmarks right now is "Crossing Lines" by sometimeswelose and that's almost 150 000 words of heartbreaking yet beautiful Destiel goodness. But I'm only halfway through. Oh, and I'm also reading a Stranger Things (Steve/Billy ship) fanfic "By the rivers dark" and that's not even complete yet and is already 200 000, so who knows what kind of a behemoth that's gonna be in the end.😆 Do you know the name of the author who wrote the story btw? Cause I tried to look it up on Ao3 and can't seem to find it.

Reapers are a lower rank of angel, like cupids are a lower rank of angel. There are different levels of angel strength/job? Dean's voice breaking when he calls out Cas' name is brutal. There was so much pain in that one word. I hate when they deviate from how the boys would actually react Dean wouldn't let Cas just leave with nothing. Ezekiel knew that Dean would always choose Sam over anyone, even someone else he loves, and it was a crappy move.
The part of this episode where Cas slept in the school bus was apparently quite hard for Misha to shoot, because Misha grew up poor and often homeless, and at one point did sleep in some kind of bus or vehicle with his younger brother, so that scene gave him flashbacks. :/ I hate Dean kicking Cas out. It makes no sense that he gives him no kind of support, monetary or anything. :( The April -as-reaper storyline didn't make much sense. Yes, reapers are a lower order of angels, but SPN established in S2, with Tessa, that they can simply appear in the form of anyone they want, they don't need to possess people to take their form - but this reaper did possess April.
In fact, until S13, they made a lot of last resort or the only choice at the moment. Until the last two seasons, you didn't know what a rubbish plot is. Personally, I think Dean's character setting is really ruined. Even Jensen can't fully explain Dean's decision and said that this It's the writer's responsibility...Do you think Dean is cruel? This is just the beginning...Sam should be the one with the most and most reasonable growth in the whole supernatural character

Poor Cas. I was so annoyed with Dean and furious with Ezekiel. Cas didn't deserve to be thrown out like that.

Yeah its so out of character. People are always having a go at dean for that but honestly i just cannot think of it as anything but bad writing

Tessa wasn't in a physical form, though. She was still in a spiritual form. In order to have a physical form, the reaper had to possess April
