I was an LDS missionary in El Paso and when I was a kid, BYU and Utah were in the WAC with Texas-El Paso so I know all about the magnificence of the Bear :)

I am very proud to experience having 1 drink with the bear. I asked the bartender to send him a drink. Bartender came back and told me. Don will accept it if u join him for a drink. I was in awe!! I didn't want to bother him too much so we had a quick drink, shook his hand and thanked him for being so humble..

I worked with Harry Flourney for many years. We were both route salesmen for Oroweat Bread Co. in El Segundo CA. When Harry first came to work with us I thought he was a very nice guy. We even had beers together a half dozen times. After Harry got on as a permanent employee it became more and more apparent to me that Harry didn't like white people a whole lot. Me being white big and tall I think brought some hate out of Harry. Oh well, that's on him. I never did one thing disrespectful to him or any black I worked within the thirty years I worked there. I'm very sorry to hear he died he passed away. God Bless Harry Flournoy, I hope he is in heaven!!!

    * I should clarify. I was a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in El Paso but I still know of the magnificence of the Bear. When I was first a missionary in El Paso in October 2001, The Bear was still alive. I wish I could have at least seen him. Incidentally, I also served in Tucson when Lute Olson was still alive so I was in the midst of Lute and the Bear. What a lucky guy I was :)

Could have gone anywhere, but remained loyal to UTEP. Just don't find them anymore.

New Mexico loves Don Haskins. Such a great coach and so humble. Loved how he always downplayed the Miners chances before any game and won most.
