The worst part of today's left, and mind you I've been a Democrat all my life, is the out-of-the-box abuse of Israel and the plausible deniability on obvious antisemitism that goes with it. Do you remember that the war that's going on right now, Israel did not start? Do you remember how it was started? So, the terrorist group that governs Gaza is claiming to be the victims because they attacked a country that was much stronger militarily and now they don't like the results? Seems to me like that was a stupid thing to do then, wasn't it? The Jewish people said never again and that's what they meant. They are surrounded by enemies on all sides who have tried to wipe them out since the day they became a country. They don't owe it to anybody to take 💩 and terrorism like what happened old October 7, 2023, because you say they have to. Now, you see, I was on board, I was listening, then you said that divisive thing, and now the whole video is about that for me. Don't assume people agree with you. It's a hotly contested topic.
Saw that! So sorry for those folks who lost their job. I'm an exec coach, and I've taken clients from Amazon before. No more. No Meta or Microsoft (big vendor to the IDF).
It will be too hard to cut off Amazon. And a major untargeted boycott to Amazon and Walmart will hurt other blue voter employees. I would patronize those companies or sellers who have good business practices, treats their employees well, would buy from women or minority-owned businesses that I want to support, and to support as many local businesses in community that I can.
I am cutting up my Target card and mailing it with a note as to why. "First they went after the ______, but I was not a ____, so I said nothing. Next they went after the ____, but I was not a ____, so I did nothing. Then they came after ME, and there was no one left to do anything."

15 years, for me, and I buy used pants every 10 or 15 years since 2001. Occasionally, I have to buy shirts, but I’m only dressing for me so it doesn’t really matter as much. As an added bonus, it pisses off men that expect that I should be available for them to look at or compliment/insult.
Finally some practicality on social media instead of rage baiting. These are great too because literally anyone can do them, rich or poor. I hate when people have all the excuses to not change their spending habits slightly

I switched to a credit union during the 2008 financial crisis. I wish I would have known about credit unions sooner. Their whole model of business is completely different from the banks and much more customer friendly.
During covid, our community started mutual aid cabinets. They are on street corners throughout the county, especially in areas that might be more in need of food and toiletries. Random people put things in them like dog food and toilet paper and canned goods and coffee and sugar and cleaning products and sanitary supplies and diapers. It seems to have worked really well and they are still going strong 4 years later. I live in the country and also advocate setting up barter systems with goods and services in your local community. Nothing too formal but maybe your neighbor can change your oil and you can fix his squeaky door or hang wallpaper in his bathroom. Or maybe you just give his family some nice roasts from the deer you got last week. We also get to meet people and learn about various skills. This way. It's a good way to build connections in a community.
Excellent list. Saving this video to my watch-list to share. The apps in particular sound like something I'd use. Buying from local and small businesses is always the way to go. At the end of the day you're supporting literal neighbors rather than distance "shareholders".
Hiya! Love the channel. If you time I’d appreciate more in depth info on low-margin vs. high margin items. I didn’t realize the store brands were higher margin, but in retrospect it totally makes sense.
I had no idea my old neighborhood single mom's stone soup brigade was us participating in mutual aid. We just saw it as doing the right thing and keeping all of our kids fed. We'd bring what we had available in our dwindling pantries together and make enough to feed everyone.
I haven’t canceled Amazon prime yet. I want to but haven’t found a source yet for some of the diabetic foods I eat. I’ve done all the others and hope to cancel Amazon soon.
Good tips on CUs. It’s not quite accurate to say “Vanguard” owns X amount of the stock market. Vanguard is (theoretically) a mutual company, owned by its members (the everyday people that have some mutual funds or 401Ks) via their funds. Not too different than CUs really. I think one of the real issues is people don’t exercise the power they have, like attending local government meetings, hearings, doing jury duty, voting etc.
Love this… could you please upload part 1 here? I’ve been boycotting Walmart since Sam was alive… my initial reason was that I’m an empath, and everyone at Walmart is so unhappy. They sure do know how to keep giving reasons. Also, I have an account with BOA that I use for online bill pay and donations… I have a huge number of addresses saved there. I paid off my BOA mortgage and have my HELOC with a local credit union, as well as a credit card … no longer have one with BOA. So if like me you find it challenging to give up big bank services, you can still move big chunks of your business to a credit union.
That fact has been gnawing at my conscious my entire work life. I didn't contribute to a 401k. I didn't feel right knowing I was sharing in the profits from companies that do terrible things just for money. I passed up the chance for a more comfortable retirement.
Nice! Thank you. I would like to add shopping farmer's markets, private resales , and garage sales. Less waste and giving back to actual people. Even the big resale "charities " can be a good source, though I personally prefer to donate to small local charities and just give to individuals in need. Not interested in helping line the big wigs pockets while they pretend to help the community.
Antique malls are another good way to shop locally from a large selection of not new merchandise and potentially benefit multiple mom and pops. Tons of practical items made to last can be found there, from drinking glasses to string to mixing bowls and baking dishes… my kitchen is stocked with this stuff.
I would like to announce my arrival, lol. I just found you (I’m not on the TikToks) and now I’m following you. I got some great ideas from this video - looking forward to watching more!
The big banks truly are terrible. I worked at one for 6 years, and the immoral, unethical business practices are for real... their employees AND their customers suffer.
Another good reason to use a local credit union. Even regional banks still answer to the FedGov. They are set up as a not for profit so you are a stockholder when you utilize their services. Your money stays local and no ridiculous add on fees.
I would like to use the "no thanks app" but it wants my credit card info. I don't understand why when it states " your card will not be charged for activation"?
Sounds great on paper but I’m not going to 15 different stores on the one day I have off. I think this is only advise for rich people as well cause the store brands are cheaper.
Just canceled my Target account. Luckily I have Wegmans and an independent food market in my town. I’m going to buy in bulk from the farmers market this year and can my own jelly and veggies.

Question: I've heard that many credit unions are actually owned by big banks. Do you have advice on how to determine if this is true for a specific credit union?
Federal Credit Unions are INSURED BY FED. GOVT., like banks, but are owned by members. They are more common than they used to be. There was a time when you had to be a member of a union, or other group to participate. Now they can ve set up for area residents. We are joining the Twin Cities Federal Credit Union.
Just found your channel, and I’m definitely going to download those apps. For the bank one, that will take time. (I wanna legally change my name first… and since I’m enby I know that’s not going to be fun rn, but I will get to it.)
What people have observed though, is that any time smaller operations and businesses get enough support, they eventually end up getting bought out by the big guys. I don’t See the point of this cycle. It only lasts for a while. Going totally off grid is the only way to avoid this any most Americans can’t professionally afford that.
If they buy a smaller store we just have to find another one. If there are no others we just have to grow our own food and support them as little as we possibly can. If enough of us do this we will end up changing the world. You raise a good point, but all of us have to try even if it doesn't work out, because the way things are cannot continue.
Mutual aid is a principle of community action. The term goes back pretty far, carried in folk songs. Mutual Aid is the principle behind neighbors coming out to help catch the straying livestock, housefire, lost kid, etc. It is still pretty common through churches, unions, and some small town assemblies. There's a specialty within 9rofessional social work called, "community organization," which teaches how to set these things up. Look up Saul Alinski RULES FOR RADICALS, about how to do this.

How do you know if the people you're helping with mutual aid aren't transphobic/prejudiced in really popular ways? That's like 2/3 of society, and way more in the south. I don't get the point of helping people that just hurt people because it's like you're hurting people. Edit: I could also be wrong, but I think BlackRock vanguard and State Street only "own" The stock market because they have ETFs. The people who invest in those ETFs are the actual owners. And ETF investors are usually the entire spectrum of people who invest in the stock market.
What is an ETF? There ARE non-profit groups who accept proxy votes to speak up at shareholder meetings. I've known some people who bought a single share so they could attend, speak at, and vote at stock hokder meetings. Most of those are in NYC, and I lived too far away to do so myself.

You do you, rest and let people who look like me do some work. If you're white and abled, I need you to buck the fuck up. Why? Because I know for a FACT that white folks have not done the work like other communities have. We've skated by on our privilege and let everyone else do the work for us. Those times are over. PS - I voted for Harris and a straight Dem ticket. Not because I wanted to (I didn't -- I unaffiliated after being a Dem for 34 years) but because I listened to folks with less privilege than me. Voting is harm reduction at it's best. It's the very least we can do. PS - this IS how I live my life. I'm not just coming on here giving people advice and then doing the opposite.

Indeed they treat their workers well
If their union does well in the upcoming contract talks then yes..
Whole Foods went downhill when Amazon bought them. Maybe stop supporting Amazon too, if possible.
Oh, yeah, I almost forgot that! That puts their labour practices in context now. _Of course_ it would be owned by union-busting Bezos
Definitely stop enabling Amazon. Lots of these businesses are modern day slave masters. There, I said it.
Maybe? I was after long reluctance forced to admit how evil they were in 2008.
Haven't shopped on Amazon in years and I am glad I didn't after this election.

There ARE non-profit groups who accept proxy votes to speak up at shareholder meetings. I've known some people who bought a single share so they could attend, speak at, and vote at stock hokder meetings. Most of those are in NYC, and I lived too far away to do so myself.
This is hilarious.
I'm a MAGA.
Myself & my MAGA friends & family have been doing these for years, decades even, for the same reasons.
Glad to see yall are catching up.
Why are you evil?
@M_SC
I am not evil. I am sane. I do not vote based on emotions.
The most toxic, hateful people I know are liberal feminists.
Besides I've been doing exactly what she is suggesting for several years. Is she evil?
Haha.. came to say the same.
On this page we are USA.
@sbon4771 that's actually really nice to hear.. especially with how disgusting people have been on both sides. Yes, I voted for Trump but I'm not a worshiper... of ANY politician.
But it is what you do I’m a 92% er I showed up and you guys showed us who you really are and we are done the 92% say you wanted and voted for an orange clown show so now we get to be effing screwed nope nope nope we’re not supporting any of your crazy programs and schemes. We’re not marching and we’re not standing with you.
Sweetheart, I understand you're frustrated. If you're a person from an historically oppressed group, I get what you're saying and support it 100%.
@@BridgesToBurn I can’t tell an ally from an enemy anymore. That’s why I’m stepping back yeah I’m frustrated but I’m mostly disappointed and so I’. I’m not gonna show up for anyone except my kids and relatives after that I’m done. I don’t have any more fight in me or protest. I’ve done the research . We’re fighting for democracy but that idea died a long time ago somebody pulled up the tree chopped up the roots and salted the Earth I’ve been on this earth 53 years and I’m retiring my Cape.

I could forgive you for retreating to recuperate; but DISCOURAGING THE ACTIVISM OF OTHERS, because YOU are discouraged is pretty smarmy.
I hope you get your rest, and your family as secure as you can under the Regime, but please keep your negativity to yourself.
@christal2641 smarmy is not showing up at the polls, always begging others to do the work and research you guys refuse to do yet you reap the benefits yes I will sit down and I will not join you your marches you showed your true Face your self-serving Liars who vote against their own interests it's just a fact the polls showed it the way you guys came out and voted against yours and everyone else's interests don't be mad because we see you for who you are Liars hypocrites xenophobes bigots
I've been operating like this for almost 30 years now. And I'm just wondering... What took y'all this long?? No really. Did the weaponization of 9/11 and GWB's plea to Get out there and shop! not make you want to pull the rug then... and every year after?? I just don't get it. 🙇🏻
A lot of us have been doing this for decades. Question is, how far up your own @ss can you get?
Go MAGA go
Into the dustbin of history.
Wanted to deposit a CASHIER'S CHECK in Wells Fargo & they insisted they had to hold it 7 days before they credited to my account. Took it to Navy Federal Credit Union instead & closed WF acct.
You popped up on my screen and I’m taking your advice! Thank you for sharing and informing us. If we at least try to be conscientious humans, I believe every bit helps. 🙏⚖️🫶🌎🌍🌏
