Beautiful ! specially like the evening walk, when the streets are almost empty and the buildings even more pretty with all the lights. Amazed to see so little people in the pubs, for some reason I thought the English were pub goers!
@@MemorySeekers I live two miles from Corbridge and having seven pubs in a very small area, plus one right next to the train station, means that individually they don't see a lot of traffic except at weekends and in peak tourist season. The Blue Bell behind St Andrews church on Hill Street is really the locals 'go to' place where you are more likely to find it crowded than the others.
Outstanding! Corbridge is so cute with such a cozy ambience! Especially in the evening twilight! I just loved it! Such quaint & charming Homes & Buildings. As well as truly unique & interesting Shops, charming Restaurants & Pubs & the delicious looking Bakery! Not to mention the rustic & beautiful St Andrews Church, with such lovely stained glass windows & amazing architecture! This charming Village & the beautiful surrounding area is wonderful! Thank you for sharing your delightful experience there! Blessings to you both!
Thank you very much for this wonderful video. My wife and I are very enthusiastic about Corbridge. This lovely town will be a highlight of our planned tour of northern England. Tommy from N.Germany
Lovely video 😊 hope you had a pleasant trip while i enjoyed watching so much, very relaxing & adorable village. I love England for her beauty, charm & peace & your's is the only youtube channel who represent England & her history in extraordinary ways 👏❤ thank you for sharing, i definitely had a great time watching the entire video 😍😀
I have lived around that area for most of my 62 years. 50 years ago there was a 'real' bakery ( not the upmarket tourist place they have now), 2 butchers, a fishmongers, an Ironmongers (remember those?) and a public library...all gone. It is still a lovely place and well worth a visit but very much split between the born and bred locals and an influx of affluent outsiders (which explains all of the gentrified independent shops) who use it as a base to commute to Newcastle.
@ Hello my friend, just had a virtual walk around your beautiful town on Google earth . I see how time has changed the town forever which is heartbreaking for you all . The bakery, long may it remain ,looks so lovely and I really fancy one of their pies . Here in Cheshire the heart has been ripped out of villages and towns with the demise of local traders selling their century old wares . Nothing but Supermarkets, charity shops, Turkish barbers , and female beauty shops now. I’m in my seventies my friend and I recall all the features of town life you so rightly mentioned in your comments. That’s why the future generations will never experience the lovely intimate memories of past local life we so enjoyed. God Bless and take good care of yourselves, 🫡🏴🇬🇧🫡
We hadn't heard much about Corbridge before we visited. I think it certainly a gem, and a well known pretty village to visit. We had just never come across it until researched where to stay. So glad we did.
One of your very best. Particularly fond of your music choices on this❤the twilight ambiance is simply legendary! I'd love to see Corbridge leading up to Christmas🎄. One might call this village: Coooor-bridge! 😜 Thank you, Gents for yet another lovely visual feast.
What a charming place and an other fabulous video! Two things amaze me, the age and history of many of these beautiful buildings, and how much walking you gents do!
Having a base of operations while you visit an area is a great idea. It is also wonderful that such a beautiful and historic town is still going strong and doing well. Thanks for sharing.
Another great video ! I particularly enjoyed bit on the vicars Pele Tower . I have seen photos of it in books I have on early English Architecture . Your footage was the first filming that I have seen of the Pele .
These videos are marvels of both content and production. Thanks for the rewarding views of villages and cities I'll never be privileged to see in person.
This film gives a nice picture of the town, also the atmospheric images in the afternoon are beautiful! Apparently the weather was cold and yes, then you are hungry, haha. Thanks for the film.
Aw, Home Sweet Home! Lovely, the old place is still looking loved & handsome. Interesting you picked up on the Parking Issues - we were around when the parking was free, but folk used to complain it was hogged by some and untidy - so then ended up with the meters - pay & display... I rather think a bar with Iced Water as the 1st thing you see might be the reason for the cool atmosphere!! Very interesting, many thanks - lots of new shops, but all looks good.
As always, thank you. The mix of history and all these places has to offer. The one thing we wondered is how they manage the traffic on the one lane bridge.
Oh what a fantastic town. Think it’s a bit of a fave for me. The place was idyllic, all those lovely shops. Would be broke in 10 minutes. Really loved that thanks. Thanks, for taking me along. Please take care
always enjoy the research that you do and history we have nothing like this in new zealand so very much enjoy in the shops and pubs looking in shop windows thanks
What a stunning town and with another tempting bookshop. We like airbnbs too. Dining out is expensive so have the option of meals in all helps. Yours looked gorgeous.
Ha ha! We just said, you ought to visit Durham - especially at night, it's brilliant - unless they've changed it, the lighting is like old gas lighting, very muted and of course, as you know the cathedral and castle are amazing! I'm so dying for a decent curry - the last one we had was in Durham - 2006, maybe... So glad you guys loved the North - we really did, just the weather & parking which kind of got to us in the end, so warmer days and cheaper parking would be a BIG +!!! Happy travels with lots of fun and cold beers!
We do like to try and find a good curry when we are away. Whilst our fav is local to us, The Valley was pretty decent as we mentioned. Yes shortly we'll be in Durham, however it was a weekend and the Saturday night was so busy and full of revelers, so we didn't film the night time. Northumberland does seem to be one of those counties that charges everywhere for parking. I agree it is a bit annoying.
Hello Simon and will how are you both love your vidio its very interested lovely day and lovely river too and good trains best wishes take care stay safe from Lynn x ❤😅😅😊
A town which shows how progress doesn't fit as vehicles and the volume of vehicles wasn't in the town planning at all. A few horse carts being the only type in the day. This village really does show the path of history and development. Especially the church. Thanks as always. Loved the bnb with the view. Take care =-)
Yes so many places cannot cope with the car these days. I read they plan to stop cars in the market place at some point, to make it more attractive. Not sure if or when that will go ahead.
I live in a village down the road from Corbridge and it is a lovely place for a day out. Just to say when I was a kid (many moons ago) there were none of those independent shops and it wasn't really a tourist destination. I don't think it is better or worse than it was in the 1970's but I think the locals miss the two butchers, the fishmonger, the Ironmonger (ask your grandparents :) the public library and the old style bakery called Chaffey's that made the best Mince Pies ever (not biased at all). What hasn't changed is the buses getting stuck on Middle street when there are any stationary vehicles along there at all! Very nice video, makes me realise how much we take for granted living around here and your editing and narration was first class.
I live in Australia, but my dream is to visit the UK! I love your channel. Northumberland and Yorkshire are my favourite spots and can’t wait for the day I finally get there😊
Another delightful visit with you both. Corbridge is packed with history, yet I would not want to live there. Too many tiny roads and too many tourists. Thanks for the peek and wonderful narration. XX

Corbridge was lovely and friendly. However, with so many visitors, they need more B&Bs. They don’t have any launderettes, either! We loved visiting…but next time, we would need to stay out of town.

I agree ❤😊
We were there mid week, and it was not quite peak season so I guess that's why the might have been quiet? We were also a bit surprised.

@@MemorySeekers I'm so happy for you both. The place is very captivating.
Absolutely delightful. Enjoyed the history of the village. Thanks for taking us along.
We really enjoyed it, so nice to spend more that just a day one of the villages we visit. Love to go back, was a gem.
A truly beautiful village Loved seeing it thro the day and into dusk
Yes, we are not usually around in the villages we visit after dark. As it was our base it was the perfect place for a dusk walk. So pretty!
Thank you for letting us tag along. It was lovely. I was afraid to imagine what would happen if you had taken a wrong step on the Vicars stairs.🤗❤️🐝
They were steep steps, you certainly would break something if you stumbled!
@@MemorySeekers yes, it looked like a good place to need an ambulance. And they serve liquor lol!! ❤️🐝🤗

I would advise NOt going in the summer- we tried to park twice nut it was too busy. A place to visit out of season 😊
Thank you for your tips, I can imagine like many other places its popular, hence the large carpark out of the village.
This video made me hungry 😅

Great video! But what is a pant?
In parts of Scotland and northern England the 'pant' was a public fountain or water supply.
Newcastle is around 10 miles inland. The Tyne meets the sea at Tynemouth!
I guess it would do given the name. Thanks for the correction.

Aston Martin at 22.15. 😀
Has it got a Greggs now?
Doesn’t need one Grants bakery is much better.
Sounds like they need to organise free parking but a £2 shuttlebus, kind of like a mini park and ride - need a keen local to arrange that!!
