I think Louis made the guys feels confident enough to have fun and be themselves even if they were dealing in a heavily produce, explotive and controlled environment. He also wasn't afraid to speak for himself and for the band in terms of having more control over the music, songwriting and other aspects of the band. Louis voice back in the 1D era was so easy to identify and was the glue of the band I think now his voice is stronger and even more beautiful. I can't believe this is still an argument - he's absolutely integral to the band, not just with his vocals (particularly carrying all the choruses) and in his songwriting, but also in terms of dealing with management, increasing the band's role in their own development, and stopping them from going off their heads with boredom and frustration by devising daft games etc. I think it was Niall who said they would have lost the plot without Louis.

Honestly I believe if louis hadnt been in the band the world wouldnt have the Harry that everyone adores. Also I feel like Louis knew each member better than anyone of the other’s did each other and had a bond with each individual and not just a bond as a group. I heard about 1d ofc but Louis' personality was what made me to become their fan. The difference of his voice was why I thought at first he's the most popular at the band. And only his vulnerability and never ending kindness was what made him the only artist I've been following for so many years💙
Not only Louis' voice is very unique and is the reason I became a fan in the first place, he has many overlooked roles in the band. For starters, Louis was the one who lifted the band spirit in their harshest times. People rarely stop to wonder exactly when Lilo waterfights began to take place; After Zayn left the band. Zayn was Louis' best friend, he was probably most hurt by him leaving so abruptly, yet in complete Louis-style, he was the one who lifted the spirits of the band members. The undeniable support. For every single member. Remember Zayn's high notes? Remember how, every single time, Louis would appreciate is visibly? Or Harry. Remember 'painted nails make Harry beautiful'? He was the one who encouraged Harry to paint his nails, or weara dress, far back in 2011. The effortless leadership. Louis was, perhaps, the most overlooked member in the band. But he was still the leader. Not my words, these are the words of his own bandmates. One Direction never had an official leader, but Louis was that. His protectiveness. His sense of humour. His boldness. His kindness. All of those are what make Louis an important member in One Direction, without question or doubt. Hell, I even believe that without Louis, One Direction wouldn't have made it as far as they did. Lou is like the light to the band. niall himself said without him the band would be boring. its known that behind the scenes he was also the one that worked very hard to support the boys. They assume that just because his voice is different it's bad. I 100% would not have liked one direction as much and became a directioner if it weren't for louis. im sure this is true for many others as well. He stands out and he brings attention to the band. He makes it so that everyone feels included. Look at any one of his friendships with any one of the boys in the band. They were all interactive and they all seemed to look up to him. Even if he was loud and "immature" he was definitely a role model to not only all the boys but to many fans as well. Each boy brought their own charm and own thing to the band. Just because him strayed farther from what the others brought doesn't mean it was negative. The band would have much less fans if louis was not there. He is interesting and a ray of sunshine. The light he exerts helps the rest of the boys smile and helps us smile as well. I can say with a lot of pride that he is my comfort person. He is who i lean on if i' in need of a smile. This was evidently true for the boys of the band as well. Louis brought out the playfulness in the guys. he brought life into the songs. His light never stopped shining no matter what happened and the least we could do is be grateful to him for that. I've never met him irl but even through a screen, even on a printed out picture his smile exerts just the brightest rays of sunshine i'd ever seen from anyone. No matter how much support he has right now he is still vastly underappreciated. The people who say he was worthless and didn't belong there just don't know what he really is. They see what is on the surface. Beneath is someone who has been broken. Beneath is someone who has been hated. But beneath is also someone who has stayed strong through all of it. Can't believe I haven't seen this video until now. Louis has been my favorite band member since day 1. He's got such a big heart and he just seems so down to earth. Granted, all the boys seemed down to earth, but louis probably the most. He also brought such a unique sound to the band. That sound is what made the songs so good, whether he was doing a solo part or singing with the others. I loved the energy Louis brought in the video diaries, the interviews and in the music. I think Louis was a key member of the band. And I love his solo music now as well. Louis is amazing.
It’s so weird to watch this without Louis. Like there’s an itching feeling that something is missing and u’re waiting for something to happen but it never comes. And in the songs it’s like there’s a void. I’m missing his unique, leading and sometimes slightly raspy but so clear voice. Not to mention that a lot of songs wouldn’t exist the way we know them.

Louis did so much for the band and without him i probably wouldn't be the person i am now. I first discovered One Direction from Harry but then when I started watching all the videos the one that stuck out most to me was Louis! I thought "hey! He's really cool i like him!" Then I heard him sing and all i thought "Holy crap this person literally sings like an angel" From the start Louis was the one i automatically loved i knew he was the one who was going to be able to give me light when I was in the dark and you know what? He did he gave me such a bright light to guide me. When I first saw him i just completely fell for this blue eyed silly kind boy from Doncaster called Louis Tomlinson. I've always had a soft spot for Louis and he has a very very special place in my heart and i think i always will that's something that will never go away. Don't get me wrong i adore the other boys and i love them just as much as Louis but Louis will always be my favorite member. it's so incredibly upsetting to me when people say things like "oh, one direction would have been better without louis" or "louis isn't even talented" or any manner of shit like that. yes, each one of the boys is talented in their own right, that's a fact, but louis has this undeniable air of life that surrounds him that he just breathes into everyone else around him. he never takes any situation too, too seriously and he always takes time to be kind to others, even when nobody else does. his songwriting is absolutely fucking genius, his wit is hilarious, and his personality leaves a gaping, obvious hole whenever it's missing. i feel like within the band, he took on almost an older brother role (the six younger siblings might have something to do with that lol) and the other three really, really looked up to him. it was (and still is, of course) so obvious how much he cared for all of them, and i think if louis hadn't been that connecting, bonding presence within one direction, they would not have had NEAR as much success as they did. honestly, you can say a lot of the same things about his solo career now. there's people who call him the "flop" of one direction as if he isn't selling out all of his world tour venues as we speak. the AFHF is its own feat in itself! louis paid for that entire festival completely out of his own pocket, didn't charge a dime for tickets, AND provided a live stream for people to watch from anywhere in the world. all because he wanted to make live music accessible to as many people as possible. the numerous charities he's worked with and donated to have nothing but incredible things to say about him, and i honestly wouldn't have expected anything less. he's just such a genuinely *good* person that my heart just aches for him. he thanks all of us at every opportunity he has and stays constantly humble despite everything. to be completely honest, he's the most amazing role model i could ever ask for, staying strong through the entire rash of shit that the universe has thrown at him through the years. louis, you are more strong, more kind, more talented, more caring, more genuine, and just more flat out fucking lovely than i could ever hope to be. please never, never, never change. we all love you

I discovered 1D very late, maybe three years ago (what a shame but my parents always used to play me French music when I was a kid), when I watched one of the videos diary from 2010 that was recommended for me by TH-cam. I almost instantly felt in love with those boys and the energy of the band, the happiness that they bought to everyone, that they carried with them. But I have to admit if Louis hadn’t been there, I would certainly not have showed as much interest as I did for the band. No one can say he is not an important part (if not the most important one) of the soul of the band. He was the one for whom I was watching those videos at the beginning, he was the one that made me laugh, that brought me joy, that made me want to improve my English. To be honest I’m not sure I would be able to write this paragraph if I hadn’t discovered and wasn’t a 1D fan thanks to Louis. Watching these videos without Louis’ usual jokes, noises, accent… actually made me feel very weird, the band is just not the same without him. He is so important and I don’t think he really realises it. So ppl just need to stop saying some shitty things about him and start realise that he is an absolute angel that carried the band; even I who wasn’t a fan at the time can see it in all the videos. Going to his concert in Paris was just the best day of my life, he is such a powerful king and we should love him for what he did and is still doing

wow... this video made me so happy :) I didn't realize Louis was on the credits for so many of 1D's songs! I really hope he sees this video because he often doesn't get the appreciation he deserves.
It was his idea to start cowriting their songs and he has the most writing credits. Midnight Memories, Four, and mitam would be so completely different/wouldn't exist without him. Also, Lilo water fights are the most iconic thing about their concerts. The things that make 1D into 1D wouldn't exist without Louis. Their adorable inability to be serious, their sound, everything. His voice is also my favorite. He's got a young sounding voice but it has this rough thing it does that just fucking makes the songs.
After watching this video I realised that the main reason why the video diaries were so interesting was because of Louis. Without him it's kind of boring to be honest.
I started listening and watching One Direction songs and videos again after Liam's departure. I'm sad for him and them as a human being. I'm a mom, I'm 50, my daughter who is several years younger than them introduced me to One D and we watched their concert in 2015. I'm a music fan of 1960's, '70's, 80's until recently. My reaction had some layers. However, I only dived into the differentiations of each of their voices. Look, I'm a fan but not a Directioner. I'm partial to Louis. If any if the fans want to look at some of the pop rock songs in 1980's, 90's, and alternative genre from 2000's onwards, Louis voice will fit right in. The judges knew and said his voice is unique. It's not just unique, it has its genres. I myself appreciate it because nowadays music is not the same as 80's - 2000's, Louis' voice is a tribute to those eras and he also made it his own. Secondly, if any One D fan should realize is that they wouldn't grow that big without the roles and support they had to each other. It's okay to have favorites, yet it shouldn't help to underrate any band members. Thirdly, I agree that Louis is kind, funny and strongwilled. Finally giving my 2 cents. I know it's late, yet the healthy support culture is much needed. If the fans wish for a reunion, they should support all members. Don't bring any of them down again. And, while he can tease the crap out of us, (which he obviously LOVES to do) by always competing with H for who is the biggest BlueGreener on this Blue Green Planet; and even between the two of them, and their Cool/Co existing REAL, LONG TIME, been there since before x factor, back in the early HS Rogue and White Eskimo Days kinda Fans, THEY ALL KNOW, Louis will ALWAYS win in this ONGOING, LONG ASS contest, of how many songs can who write about whom, the MOST, hands down. Louis' ways to show his love for H is SO intricate, so beautiful; and no one on the planet will ever 'get' just how deep the TRUE love for his man goes. Which is sad, because Louis put it in his lyrics, his Merch, and even his STAGE LIGHTS; and in a cute way in the London Paper; he's advertised it in other's products PROUDLY, with Blue/Green being the Theme. He has shown it in his clothing he's worn on Stage whilst performing. So, why is no one really listening to what he cannot *yet and legally* out right say? I have said it before, and i will say it again, why can't people be kind, and understand, "The little one with the cheek bones is STILL Truly Madly Deeply in LOVE with his Prince."

I’m so glad someone acknowledged this fact so much and cared enough to compile it as a video. So much effort from the creator goes into the video. I think Louis made the guys feels confident enough to have fun and be themselves even if they were dealing in a heavily produce, explotive and controlled environment. He also wasn't afraid to speak for himself and for the band in terms of having more control over the music, songwriting and other aspects of the band. Louis voice back in the 1D era was so easy to identify and was the glue of the band I think now his voice is stronger and even more beautiful. I can't believe this is still an argument - he's absolutely integral to the band, not just with his vocals (particularly carrying all the choruses) and in his songwriting, but also in terms of dealing with management, increasing the band's role in their own development, and stopping them from going off their heads with boredom and frustration by devising daft games etc. I think it was Niall who said they would have lost the plot without Louis.

I heard about 1d ofc but Louis' personality was what made me to become their fan. The difference of his voice was why I thought at first he's the most popular at the band. And only his vulnerability and never ending kindness was what made him the only artist I've been following for so many years💙
Not only Louis' voice is very unique and is the reason I became a fan in the first place, he has many overlooked roles in the band.
For starters, Louis was the one who lifted the band spirit in their harshest times. People rarely stop to wonder exactly when Lilo waterfights began to take place; After Zayn left the band. Zayn was Louis' best friend, he was probably most hurt by him leaving so abruptly, yet in complete Louis-style, he was the one who lifted the spirits of the band members.
The undeniable support. For every single member. Remember Zayn's high notes? Remember how, every single time, Louis would appreciate is visibly? Or Harry. Remember 'painted nails make Harry beautiful'? He was the one who encouraged Harry to paint his nails, or weara dress, far back in 2011.
The effortless leadership. Louis was, perhaps, the most overlooked member in the band. But he was still the leader. Not my words, these are the words of his own bandmates. One Direction never had an official leader, but Louis was that.
His protectiveness. His sense of humour. His boldness. His kindness. All of those are what make Louis an important member in One Direction, without question or doubt. Hell, I even believe that without Louis, One Direction wouldn't have made it as far as they did. One Direction was consisted of five members who worked in a perfect balance that took One Direction so far. It's ridiculous to think one member was less important than the others.

Lou is like the light to the band. niall himself said without him the band would be boring. its known that behind the scenes he was also the one that worked very hard to support the boys. They assume that just because his voice is different it's bad. I 100% would not have liked one direction as much and became a directioner if it weren't for louis. im sure this is true for many others as well. He stands out and he brings attention to the band. He makes it so that everyone feels included. Look at any one of his friendships with any one of the boys in the band. They were all interactive and they all seemed to look up to him. Even if he was loud and "immature" he was definitely a role model to not only all the boys but to many fans as well. Each boy brought their own charm and own thing to the band. Just because him strayed farther from what the others brought doesn't mean it was negative. The band would have much less fans if louis was not there. He is interesting and a ray of sunshine. The light he exerts helps the rest of the boys smile and helps us smile as well. I can say with a lot of pride that he is my comfort person. He is who i lean on if i' in need of a smile. This was evidently true for the boys of the band as well. Louis brought out the playfulness in the guys. he brought life into the songs. His light never stopped shining no matter what happened and the least we could do is be grateful to him for that. I've never met him irl but even through a screen, even on a printed out picture his smile exerts just the brightest rays of sunshine i'd ever seen from anyone. No matter how much support he has right now he is still vastly underappreciated. The people who say he was worthless and didn't belong there just don't know what he really is. They see what is on the surface. Beneath is someone who has been broken. Beneath is someone who has been hated. But beneath is also someone who has stayed strong through all of it. Stayed happy for us. Beneath is someone who needs to be thanked. So thank you louis. For making the days, months, years, and lives of so many people. 💙💙💙

I can't lie, I started to cry. Louis is the most amazing human to ever walk this earth, it pains me so much that in the early days of the band, no one believed in him. But look at him now, doing better than ever. And Louis voice is so angelic, and so unworldly, no one has a voice like his and im so glad that he decided to pursue singing instead of being a criminal. Can't believe I haven't seen this video until now. Louis has been my favorite band member since day 1. He's got such a big heart and he just seems so down to earth. Granted, all the boys seemed down to earth, but louis probably the most. He also brought such a unique sound to the band. That sound is what made the songs so good, whether he was doing a solo part or singing with the others. I loved the energy Louis brought in the video diaries, the interviews and in the music. I think Louis was a key member of the band. And I love his solo music now as well. Louis is amazing.

Louis did so much for the band and without him i probably wouldn't be the person i am now. I first discovered One Direction from Harry but then when I started watching all the videos the one that stuck out most to me was Louis! I thought
"hey! He's really cool i like him!" Then I heard him sing and all i thought "Holy crap this person literally sings like an angel" From the start Louis was the one i automatically loved i knew he was the one who was going to be able to give me light when I was in the dark and you know what? it's so incredibly upsetting to me when people say things like "oh, one direction would have been better without louis" or "louis isn't even talented" or any manner of shit like that. yes, each one of the boys is talented in their own right, that's a fact, but louis has this undeniable air of life that surrounds him that he just breathes into everyone else around him. he never takes any situation too, too seriously and he always takes time to be kind to others, even when nobody else does. his songwriting is absolutely fucking genius, his wit is hilarious, and his personality leaves a gaping, obvious hole whenever it's missing. i feel like within the band, he took on almost an older brother role (the six younger siblings might have something to do with that lol) and the other three really, really looked up to him. it was (and still is, of course) so obvious how much he cared for all of them, and i think if louis hadn't been that connecting, bonding presence within one direction, they would not have had NEAR as much success as they did.
honestly, you can say a lot of the same things about his solo career now. there's people who call him the "flop" of one direction as if he isn't selling out all of his world tour venues as we speak. the AFHF is its own feat in itself! louis paid for that entire festival completely out of his own pocket, didn't charge a dime for tickets, AND provided a live stream for people to watch from anywhere in the world. all because he wanted to make live music accessible to as many people as possible. the numerous charities he's worked with and donated to have nothing but incredible things to say about him, and i honestly wouldn't have expected anything less. he's just such a genuinely *good* person that my heart just aches for him. he thanks all of us at every opportunity he has and stays constantly humble despite everything. to be completely honest, he's the most amazing role model i could ever ask for, staying strong through the entire rash of shit that the universe has thrown at him through the years.

I discovered 1D very late, maybe three years ago (what a shame but my parents always used to play me French music when I was a kid), when I watched one of the videos diary from 2010 that was recommended for me by TH-cam. I almost instantly felt in love with those boys and the energy of the band, the happiness that they bought to everyone, that they carried with them. But I have to admit if Louis hadn’t been there, I would certainly not have showed as much interest as I did for the band. No one can say he is not an important part (if not the most important one) of the soul of the band. He was the one for whom I was watching those videos at the beginning, he was the one that made me laugh, that brought me joy, that made me want to improve my English. To be honest I’m not sure I would be able to write this paragraph if I hadn’t discovered and wasn’t a 1D fan thanks to Louis.
Watching these videos without Louis’ usual jokes, noises, accent… actually made me feel very weird, the band is just not the same without him. He is so important and I don’t think he really realises it.
So ppl just need to stop saying some shitty things about him and start realise that he is an absolute angel that carried the band; even I who wasn’t a fan at the time can see it in all the videos.

It was his idea to start cowriting their songs and he has the most writing credits. Midnight Memories, Four, and mitam would be so completely different/wouldn't exist without him. Also, Lilo water fights are the most iconic thing about their concerts. The things that make 1D into 1D wouldn't exist without Louis. Their adorable inability to be serious, their sound, everything. His voice is also my favorite. He's got a young sounding voice but it has this rough thing it does that just fucking makes the songs.

I started listening and watching One Direction songs and videos again after Liam's departure. I'm sad for him and them as a human being. I'm a mom, I'm 50, my daughter who is several years younger than them introduced me to One D and we watched their concert in 2015. I'm a music fan of 1960's, '70's, 80's until recently. My reaction had some layers. However, I only dived into the differentiations of each of their voices. Look, I'm a fan but not a Directioner. I'm partial to Louis. If any if the fans want to look at some of the pop rock songs in 1980's, 90's, and alternative genre from 2000's onwards, Louis voice will fit right in. The judges knew and said his voice is unique. It's not just unique, it has its genres. I myself appreciate it because nowadays music is not the same as 80's - 2000's, Louis' voice is a tribute to those eras and he also made it his own. Secondly, if any One D fan should realize is that they wouldn't grow that big without the roles and support they had to each other. It's okay to have favorites, yet it shouldn't help to underrate any band members. Thirdly, I agree that Louis is kind, funny and strongwilled. Finally giving my 2 cents. I know it's late, yet the healthy support culture is much needed. If the fans wish for a reunion, they should support all members. Don't bring any of them down again. I'm praying for Liam and the rest of the members. Take care, One D fans. Much Love. ❤.

Which is sad, because Louis put it in his lyrics, his Merch, and even his STAGE LIGHTS; and in a cute way in the London Paper; he's advertised it in other's products PROUDLY, with Blue/Green being the Theme. He has shown it in his clothing he's worn on Stage whilst performing.
So, why is no one really listening to what he cannot *yet and legally* out right say?

It’s utterly disgusting that fans are having to defend him against all the bullshit that are being said about him. They were a band. They all played integral part in the formation and performance.

I think… they all have their unique things that contributed in making the band what it was. Louis was a big part and he is/was so funny as well! With just 4 it isn’t the same, as we know.
