M and his aunt Laura, a scholar and philosopher, wrote essays together... he was amazingly cultured, articulate, and thoughtful
I have always admired Modigliani’s use of flesh tones, and at the same time how he eliminates a women’s most powerful asset, the eyes. He wants you to see the real women past them. Maybe he likes the way he could make her blush in her cheeks to her ears. Maybe her multiple personas are represented by the different colors, one white and one dark, that he sees, past her eyes, into her soul. Loved the history of Beatrice and your selection / description of this painting. Thank You

How about more information? Interesting character? He experimented with drugs and alcohol? He was a drunk and a pot head, drinking absinthe and smoking hashish. He had a problem with women, probably starting with his mother who coddled and supported him. She was him most painted muse, wasn't she. How about a picture of her? I need your expert opinion, which is why I tune in, something more than what I would get from Wiki. Why for example did Dr Barnes buy this?
