Tom is a terrible Taskmaster. He acts as if he feels left out during the tasks and wants to be a contestant, making jokes RANDOMLY during judging, and in the final judging often judges entirely unrelated to anything he's said before. Either he doesn't understand the role or he's just really all over the place.
To make it clear straight away, because this will get confusing quickly: Anne and Lloyd are common-law spouses, parents to a very young daughter, and live together, but they are not married. Believe me, this distinction WILL come up.

As a TM fan that thinks the "paint a horse while riding a horse" task from s1 of TMUK is the best task they've ever come up with, Lloyd's horse based chess is my favorite moment from the episode.
I love Alex Horne and Paul Williams, but Tom Cashman may be my favorite of the Taskmaster assistants. He just has these unhinged moments with a crazed look in his eyes that's befitting of a devil's imp. That side of him really comes out when he's interacting with Jenny this season.
With Tom I never know if he's truly awkward and bad at acting or if he's extremely good at acting and acts the awkwardness. Either way it's entertaining.

There's something hilarious about Anne carrying out the balloon task competently, only for to completely embarrass herself trying to leave the room with the helmet on.
I think that live task is a bit unfair, they should have gotten points for being able to fool the taskmaster and not just Tom picking anne again and again 3 times until she got outed

I expected someone to catch the "your time starts when you put on your helmet" and just pop all the balloons into something else, then put on the hat and fill the basket.
Similarly, even if they asked you to just put the helmet on right away, I expected someone to dump their basket into their hands or something when they had to discard. As long as the chips didn't touch the floor you could put them back in your basket after
Isn't the last game a bit unfair? You can only get eliminated if you hear no music, so their order of who does not get to hear it influences the chances of winning.
Much more determinative was contestants' quickness in understanding that the game required not looking like you were paying too much attention to the others, using a dance that could be applied to any music, and especially starting to dance before the music even starts. That said, everything you need to know is in the task, and fairness was not mentioned in the task.

Of course they can still survive the round if they can fool him, but the earlier you have to fool him, the earlier you can be eliminated.

He laughed at some point during the prize task before he’d been shown much and it was so weird to hear a laugh that I’ve heard SO many times in Dollop episodes, like more than some friends and family. It’s so weird.
I’m a fan of the podcast “The Dollop” and Wil Anderson is one of the funniest guests they’ll have. He’s basically the only Australian comedian I know. I’m excited for this season.

Upon further review, UK series 18 is more unhinged.
This is probably one of the more unhinged opening sequences I've seen so far for a new season of Taskmaster.
Probably the best since Jenny Eclair warned Alex to brace during the Series 15 opening.
