Leica-specialst Thorsten von Overgaard says that R-lenses might even be better than those of the Mś because of their size, which coincides with my own experience with Leitz/Leica (plus 50 years). The late Erwin Puts wrote endlessly about all the characteristics of Leitz/Leica lenses. The sure thing using those lenses is, that one has some very high quality stuff in hands, and making a decent picture, that really stands out, wont't be a problem at all.
@@leslumieres1237 thank you Les, great information and wise words. I did think Ms were not as good actually but I like them for their character. That said I’m never disappointed and for sure they make nice photos. I shot 4 rolls of film with them today so can’t wait to check! (I’m actually using 2 more lenses but I’ve not shared those yet!) I might do those as a different video :)
@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom Hi Matt, yeah, Leicas are special, that's for sure. Last Thursday I participated in a photowalk, initiated by Thorsten von Overgaard in Amsterdam I took my R4 and R6 and the Elmarit-R 28-70, loaded with Agfapan 400, developed in my good old soup, Rodinal, scanned them on an Epson, and enjoyed (at least some) of the results. Of the 22 participants, I was the only one using Leicaflexes, some people didn't even know that one could still buy film!! I look forward to the results of the participants sporting all kinds of digital Leicas.
Sure wish the Leica R mount adapter wasn’t so expensive.
There are a few relatively inexpensive passive adapters for the R mount.
Thanks William. You can get a cheap one but I’d read a bad review so paid extra. They’ll hold their value so can sell worst case.
@@raksh9 thanks yes agreed, I paid extra to be safe.
I appreciate Matt Osborne's Leica talks. But although English is my mother tongue I find it difficult to understand what he is saying. A speech therapist could help here in one session. Outside of that, thumbs up all the way.
Hi Alexander, thanks for the feedback, noted, thanks.
Traduction en Français svp tank you
Hi, Subtitles might work.. but usually not accurate with technical videos, sorry
@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom tankyou
interesting that you stuck with the M240 for so long. I'd think that the M10 would have seduced you by now
Ha yes. The CL saved me and bought me 3 years! I think that because film is my main interest I get less GAS for digital.
Uses small lightweight cameras - yet bulks up the arms with a 12lb watch :)
Haha it’s lighter than it looks, use it for Ironman triathlons / training
What is that tank on your wrist Matt ?? Lol
Haha I’ve started to get a few comments about my watch lol. I use it for Ironman / triathlon events & training (swim bike run) (it unclips and onto the bike when needed)
@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom ahhhh. It’s some watch. Makes sense. I don’t like your videos anymore, 😝I just want a Leica camera 🙈🙈.
I’m going buy the new Nikon Z fc. it comes close to the old Nikons you talk about and the retro feel off them.
@@andrewhoulihan7940 haha.. yes I saw the new Nikon! ..or just but a £100 proper Nikon film camera! 😜😊
@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom I’ve had a good think about first coming across your videos and retro cameras. If i buy a Nikon for €100, each time i want get a roll developed. Ill have but the roll for €10 and sent if off to be developed for €10. So every time its €20. I don’t think ill get my return of investment. I want one for everyday use for the kids around the house and days out. Unless you have another idea ? 🙈 I’d love noting more and a retro camera.
You need a bigger watch
Haha, sorry it's functional! I use it for Ironman/ triathlon training/ events
I know that your voice is not optional for you but as a hearing impaired person, your voice is unintelligible. Maybe you could use a different audio setup or text to speech. I am very interested in the topic but cannot decipher your audio.
Hello Ivan, thanks for writing. I also have the MrLeica.com blog so you can enjoy many of the same topics in written form and with high res images.
Cannot understand a single word - awful diction!
Thanks Paul, others must be seeing it differently as no one mentioned it so far until now.
As an Australian I have absolutely no issue with voice or accent
@@jonarthur6839 G’day mate! :) ..thank you Jon! I appreciate the feedback.
@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom You're welcome Matt, you are my go to man when I want an objective opinion on anything Leica:) Always helpful and interesting, ended up on this one as I am looking at an R 80mm 1.4 in an auction tomorrow to try on an MP240.
@@jonarthur6839 thanks Jon, nice! I hope you won it! I just got the affordable 90mm f2.8
