I lost my son in an accident just a few weeks after Carl passed on TWD. I can understand why it is hard to remember Carl's face with no pictures or video to look at. Almost 6 years later and sometimes I can go from heartbreaking memories of my CJ, to wondering if he ever existed. Losing a child is a grief I wish no one else would ever experience.

I keep wondering if he didn't remember Judith as his daughter, or if he figured she was Shane daughter and so not his problem...
Me too that hit me just finished the episode and wow really enjoyed it got what I wanted out of it can't wait for the next 2.

If anything he seemed completely uninterested in him. Which is why Michonne called him out on it. I loved this episode for many reasons but the top reason being IT WAS JUST THE TWO OF THEM in the entirety of the episode.
They needed this and we as viewers needed it too.
No interruptions, no bs, just straight up hashing things out to get to the bottom of the problem. Absolutely loved the style of this episode.
I was always a Michonne fan but after this spinoff she is legitimately a QUEEN. Absolutely love her!

When rick talked about carl, it gave me goosebumps even without gore and roamers. It was a great episode

Seeing Rick cry like that broke my heart. I knew he was broken from the trauma of being held captive but I didn't realized how broken he was til that moment

Andrew lincoln ,and danai Gurira both deserve an emmy for their emotional performance this episode.
I’m so happy it was explained why Rick lost his faith in going home and it was so heartbreaking that not being able to remember Carls face was the final nail 😢 it reminded me of when Negan had him under the thumb and he’d lost all hope that time and then and now it was Michonne (and Carl) who made him realise who he really is. Beautiful episode, though I hope it ends with both of them getting out and getting on the road home!
I noticed how Rick is scared throughout all the episodes.
In the helicopter, Michonne is stone cold and Rick is nervous as hell in that storm.
I think Jadis is sent to investigate and going to find just enough evidence in that rubble to show they survived the heli crash. OR Michonne's locater sends a signal when it hit the ground before it's destroyed.
@@wendyc1902 he’s really been through it, his personality in it reminded me a bit of in GOT when Theon becomes Reek. I love from the first trailer for the series we thought we were getting red machete Rick back, but he’s been so conditioned and controlled he’s totally forgotten who he is.
I was crying so damn hard during the Carl scene. That shit hit me right in the heart.

I have such a soft spot for this episode on how emotional Rick was, as the only time we have ever really seen him breakdown like this was when Lori died and Negan forcing him to cut off Carls arm
Deni did an amazing job with this writing and their acting was so, so good. I actually cried and its been a long time since a show made me cry. I love their push and pull and how Michone did push Rick. She let him tell her why. Loved the nod to Carl!! It made me feel like i used to feel during the walking dead. I am excited to see another episode.! I am also scared they will kill one of them off. Pleeeese dont!!!

My obsession with TWD is unparalleled and this episode might be my favourite Walking Dead episode of all the spinoffs. Absolutely phenomenal acting, genuine perfection!

Michonne also recognized and dealt with her own expectations she had imagined upon a reunion.
That's very clever writing.
They have to build a whole new foundation with the love they have for each other.
@@sassyone82idk what that was with Lori. Michonne spent 6 years looking for him, fighting the living and the dead, left her children behind, and Lori jumped his best friend within the first month of the apocalypse.

Great episode... I loved the way they centered Carl. It was like Danai and Andy were honoring Chandler's character the way he should have been honored in the original TWD. Excellent writing.

Danai wrote this ep so well. Am I the only one who wished the selfsustaining building was ok so they could use the tech at Alexandria? Also, I really really really hope Daryl, Carol, Maggie, Negan, Morgan, Eugene, Aaron, Gabriel, Ezekiel, Jerry, Dwight, Yumiko, Magna, Connie, Kelly, Mercer, and Princess (I’m sure I’m missing folks) come together in at least one episode to fight together!!! I want to see them all together fighting.

I agree, it's even better than the Terminus episode which was my personal fave.
Danai Gurira's got some acting chops.
Another pointer is the two times Rick has broken down and felt helpless was both centered around Carl , the first time was when negan forced him to chop off carls hand and this time Carl doesn’t show up in his dreams anymore and now Rick chopped off that same hand he was about to chop off from Carl .
anyone else surprised they had hybrids? like if they had them in the main show, a good portion of their travel probs would've been solved, sincee they were always looking for gas.
True but nobody in the south had Hybrids back then lol
I think it's more because of the location. Lots of innovation back then in that area.
What kills me though is that area has an abundance of wildlife. Those "tech" people couldn't hunt for game???

One of the best TWD episodes of all time. Kind of reminded me of Ep 3 of The Last of Us. Just amazing acting and dialogue and emotion with 2 people. Could be a stand alone movie. So so good. Danai and Andrew were incredible. But Danai was extra incredible.

one thing i noticed when they get in the truck and rick says its a stick shift, meaning he couldnt drive it. but in the main show he drives a stickshift jeep while chasing after saviors. not sure what episode but he is driving a clutch. just a little continuity error. (Edit: I completely forgot he lost his hand XD Thanks for reminding me)

I think a lot people did because so many reactions are like "Rick? How can this country boy not drive stick?" We are so used to him having two hands and being able to do everything that people forget he only has one hand.
And yet- he was able to fly a helicopter with only 1 hand in that earlier episode😂

Wowie… until you said it; I legit did not realize that they have been apart longer than they have been together. The fact that she followed the faintest of breadcrumbs to find him is amazing.
When Michonne was waiting on Rick, I was yelling "fucking do it Rick" lol.
I wqs so emotional watching this episode. The way Rick is broken and hurting Michonne just heart breaking! This show is so good, there is no way they can not have another season or make a spin off where they continue.
Rick bringing up Carl in the episode was definitely so sad, it was a well made episode, the series so far is absolutely amazing, maybe better than the OG show, but the OG show is still my favorite show of all time.
Seeing Carl's flashback got me emotional.

i like u didnt skip talking about that moment where he looks like he is "comming" xD .. ill admit episode 1 and this episode got me in a excistential crisis .. and both of them made my head hurt out of the dopaming and got me in a emotional state for the next 4 or 5 hours.. this is the first time a TV show has done this to me really.. this scenes here remind me alot of comic book version of Rick and his relationship there and its dynamic.. I love this show...

In S7 E12, Rick talks to Michonne after they find the guns, telling her that she can lose him and that he can lose her. That she lead him to where he is, and who he is. She is the one that does not accept that she can lose him, and Rick in the current episode realizes that he can't lose her either. I think this episode was more a a revisit to that conversation than anything else.
I've noticed andrews accent coming through on certain lines on the show. The "your the love of my life" you can hear it on the life part. A few other times too, honestly it makes sense, playing the character for 9 seasons in a row then taking years off. Can't wait for him to return
In case you're wondering Greenwood Indiana is about 15 miles outside of Indianapolis to the South, If you leave from downtown Indianapolis South on Madison Ave. It'll take you about 15-20 minutes to get to Greenwood depending on traffic..

I was SO happy they had some time alone to hash things out and get some sexy time. Cause I love their connection. Its crazy that Rick has been away 8 years and Machonne set out to look for him over a year since they were gas attacked by the CRM.
Overall, Im still surprised zombies last this LONG!

Guys, Michone actually directed this episode, and it felt so amazing and real. This was a love letter to the walking dead and all its fans, she resurrected the series ultimate hero!
I love how at the start Michonne mentions the book she wants to bring to Judith and at the end is Rick the one holding the book now 🥰

You didn't mention that in the comic Rick was willing to accept the wrongs of the Commonwealth with the hope they could improve it little by little like he says in this episode.

I just love that the teaser for the next episode hints that they are about to find out something big about the walkers and will have to get back to the CRM not because they are forced at gunpoint but because they have no choice and that the danger that threatens the CRM will also at some point endanger the community they ultimately want to get back to.

As a man, this, these moments of vulnerability because of the need to protect and scared by what has been lost are so accurate.
Men often have to kill the person they’ve been, kill him inside so that what’s outside, what’s left behind can carry on.

I found this super interesting because I remember complaining about how the real problem with the core walking dead show was that they never talked about the past
This was the best episode so far out of the whole damn season, and every episode is already so damn good. This one though was so emotional and real. I could not look away for a single second. Danai wrote this episode and map props to her, mad props for both of their acting but especially Andrew. He blew it out of the water. I can't wait to see whats gonna happen next. Scott gimple said at the end he "wish he could have ended it right there with the car but this is the walking dead so" who knows.
