We had to opportunity to Marshall for Mike today. This guy is a great angler but just not this week. It was fun and hope to do it again another time. We are acting as Media Marshals for this event.

Video shows you doing an excellent job as a marshal. Impressed how you stayed out of the way and really let him do his job, especially with him running a smaller bass boat than some of the other pros. Thank you for sharing your experience. Hope you get to do it again soon.

I've never seen anyone but Mike walk all over the entire boat to catch a fish. He does it every time and it is hilarious.
It's called being a showboat along with screaming like a little girl - anything to try to get more tv time.

When I was kid we lived on Toledo Bend until I was 8 or 9. There was a BASS tournament there one year, and my dad and had been out night fishing and we were fishing a bank on the Louisiana side. Back then they would let all the boats go at once. It was foggy that morning and the Pendleton Bridge is about 2.5 miles long. Those guys took off from the Texas side and we couldn't see them, but we heard a noise that sounded like a bunch of mosquitoes. I kept asking my dad what it was... he didn't know at first either because of the fog and distance. Then he said it sounds like boats. About a minute later there had to be 40 boats break out of the fog about 50 yards from us and make a hard turn left to go north. One guy stopped and fished a tree near us for about a minute and then he went on. That was the craziest thing I've ever seen on a lake outside of a boat race. Those guys were ripping along at 60 mph in that fog, and the wake was unreal. This was in the early 80s.... I don't think they'd let them go in fog like that three days, plus they don't let them go all at once. We went back and watch them weigh in and there's Roland Martin, Larry Nixon and all those old pros. Very cool place to grow up as a little kid.

I'm doing a marshal gig this coming week. Did they say anything about you videoing? Everything I'm reading says that you can't video?
That must be a the best feeling to be a Fish Marshal for a Pro in bass master classic.. That day yielded some good fish and the weights went up.. I notice you can ask what weight is can you have casuel conversation about color suggestion ect ect.. Seems hes trying find the 🐟 so hes fishing alot Speed rounds. Lol.. I saw a few diffrent opportunities in his cast selections as well as points of interests that would hold fish.. Im just saying. Does he read his finder and if so If the bite slow .. You have to make those fish actively bite.. Just my experience.

That was nothing. That one bump as the boat was coming out of the hole shot looked pretty rough... because how it hit the boat.. but beyond that it looked pretty smooth to me. Looked like a blast.

dave schutz GoPro was mounted to a pole that was in a back pack. The hand held is a Sony action cam.

are there certain rules that you have as a marshall. like you can't talk to them or something like that or give hints?
you can't aid them in any way. you can talk to them but no advice of any kind
What's the name of the ending song?
It's a shame you couldn't have other camera angles, etc. It seems they want the best coverage of the sport, so why not? I know a drone camera would never be cool, but even a chest cam on the Pro or something from either side of the bow would be cool.
If the pro doesn't want it, then it's their choice.

Bassmasters has turned into WWF to me.
It is ok to break the ice with some conversation, it would have made him feel more comfortable instead of just being another stump in the boat.

in 2013 there was a dog barking from shore. Ike threw some explicits his way.
+Drew_LoveFishing In 2013 the classic was also at Grand Lake (same as this years). On the 3rd day, Ike had a bad day, and at one spot there was a dog just constantly barking at him. Because of a bad day at the biggest BASS tournament, he was upset and went off on the dog "F*** you dog!". So this year he brought the milk bones to make amends to the dog if he fished the same area.
Can you not talk to the angler when they are fishing ? It seems awkward at times lol

because Toyota is one of the title sponsors of Bassmaster events. Those guys are up for contingency money if they're running a Toyota. It's the same deal with any other sponsorship. It's much more noticeable on the FLW side than in Bassmaster events because BASS has historically been open to guys running whatever sponsors they want (i.e. until recently, anybody who made the final day of a Tour event had to run an FLW boat if they weren't in a title-sponsored Ranger). Does Wal-Mart have the best fishing tackle? Hell no. But they are a title sponsor of FLW so there are plenty of guys on the FLW side with Wal-Mart on their rigs, and they go to Beaver Lake every year because of it too. It's the same reason the vast majority of guys have historically run Rangers on the FLW side. It has nothing to do with anything other than dollar signs.
have you owned one or know someone who has lol. go check out the one that was just traded in with 1 million miles on it.mine is a cake walk compared to what problems my ford or my chevy for that matter gave me. more expensive to fix yes thats because they are higher quality. the tundra is more american made than any ford or chevy.
Jesse block tell that to my welding teacher who has a 2014 and had 3 water pumps replaced, a transfer case and had the truck in the shop another 2 times for frame issues

The sport of bass fishing has become a big money JOKE. They look like Nascar drivers and so do there boats. They have so much crap bolted and wired onto there boats that it looks like Nasa was involved. I'm not hating on these guys but I can promise you, I can catch as many fish and have won in my 17.5 Tracker with 2 rods and no $2500 fish finders!!
Not sure if you are just talking about catching fish on a home lake, but when you are on the road, fishing new lakes across the country, you need to bring everything.

I kind of agree with drmrjon, I feel like the electronics should be left out of it, its one thing to have a 250 on your boat to get where you need to go quick and 20 rods rigged up on the deck so youre not wasting time tying knots and rigging, but the electronics aspect of it takes away part of what makes a guy truly a great fisherman, just my two cents
