Rollins already came to France in Paris last year in a non-televised match... the public screamed her music for 10 minutes without stopping while the officials and Miz tried to calm the crowd
Some important context for the international crowd watching: The sentence you hear the crowd yelling after a 2 count is "simplement deux" which means "simply two" or "only two". It's a catch phrase that's been coined by two French commentators for more than twenty years on French TV, those very two commentators that you see at the ringside table here. In fact if the French crowd is so passionate about WWE, it's in a very VERY big part thanks to those two guys, even if they don't wanna admit it. And the proof of their importance is that the whole arena knows this catchphrase... Philippe Chereau and Christophe Agius might in fact be the most influential "superstars" of WWE in France, and I'm not saying this lightly. Probably the majority of the crowd present tonight at Backlash fell in love with WWE thanks to the way these two guys always know how to convey and translate the stories to the French audience, and for the past 20+ years they've always been as loud and passionate on commentary as the crowd tonight. Add to that the fact that they also play characters while they comment the matches, Christophe is usually cheering the bad guys while Philippe cheers the good guys, and they have a whole lot of running gags and inside jokes that they've been throwing for as long as I can remember... Actually when their table got destroyed tonight, you could hear the crowd singing "agius-chereau" in their honor. I could write a whole essay about those two and their importance in the French WWE universe. That's probably why Cody shook their hands before entering the ring on last SmackDown, I think he knows.
That’s so true. Philippe and Christophe are the reason a lot of people started to watch WWE or wrestling in general in France. They are our national heroes 🇫🇷
This is exactly how the crowd have to react You can see the smile and the eyes shining on every wrestler, they really felt as a really megastars Respect to french fans

From his time in NJPW, TNA, his time since he joined WWE, he has been in the business forever, and I really can't think of anyone more deserving of this moment. These are the moments you work for, during entire careers.

Thanks, i was wondering about that
That’s so true. Philippe and Christophe are the reason a lot of people started to watch WWE or wrestling in general in France.
They are our national heroes 🇫🇷
Could you translate the other chants?

The crowd in Lyon, France had energy I have never seen before. It just amazed me that they knew Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes's theme word by word. You don't get to see that in U.S. crowds.
The Brits started singing Cody's theme at MitB last year. He literally took a step back I'm his entrance because it was so awesome. After that, the American crowds started singing the whole thing as well. France just upped the game when they continued singing after the music stopped.
Damn, what a crowd.
For us French, American wrestling is very popular - we see the wwe superstars as gods, and we listen to the wrestlers' music in our gyms.
I don't watch WWE anymore but we are not that dumb because it's in english. When i was 13 yo, i could sing Orton's theme song fluently. Today i'm 30 yo and i'm amazed how people in France still liking wwe that much.
