Government in action: Thornton Township vs Village of Lansing

- The Lansing Journal has been providing video coverage of Thornton Township meetings since 2022. Last week we also shot video of the Lansing Village Board meetings, including the board’s second review of the 2025 budget.
Having video of budget presentations for the boards of both Thornton Township and the Village of Lansing provided a unique opportunity for comparison of those two forms of government at work.

It may be your intention to ‘remain under the radar-I would too-however, you deserve HUGE APPRECIATION & GRATITUDE from all of the citizens you are speaking for!!! You, Jedidiah & some more recent folks emerging with information are going to be what FINALLY moves this case forward! I look forward to seeing Thornton Township & the Village of Dolton move forward to a Balanced, Transparent & Successful era!!! Will we see you in the Administrative Halls?

Paul Robertz is one of my inspirations to start going to my own Town's Meetings. I figured I shouldnt know more about Two Entities in Illinois than I do my own town! Tell him Hi from Arkansas for me!

That beast has destroyed that poor village it's going to take years for Dalton to recover from the damage she has done and the way that she treats all the trustees. 🙏🙏🙏
What I can’t understand is why she is still the mayor? Get her out of office! She’s bleeding that township dry!

Maybe the officials need to consult with Haitian witch Doctors and their personal astrologers in order to get the timing right.
What is most bothersome is these politicians withhold accurate financials. Until you get a hold of actuarial, audited, finalized transactions with assets and liabilities you can never get a handle on the true financial condition of these entities.
A wonderful report and assessment of current conditions bewitching these entities.

Having BOTH of their knowledge, experience & energy supporting the township administratively would be a HUGE BLESSING for TT! I really hope HOUSE is the Mayor for VOD as well. Can you even imagine the POWERFUL FORCE of Goodness & Efficiency we would see coming from that corner of our world?
I only know what I manage to dig up online, yet, every one I have spoken with from VOD & TT has been so nice and open to all of us strangers that are now behind these two locales… I almost feel like I have “friends” here!!! These folks deserve ALL the Good that is coming for them when the mess is removed!!!
I want to know how Thornton twps budget claims they are getting less money from property taxes when property taxes increased 35% from last year?

This shows what happens when you elect a clown to run the township. No leadership nor understanding of how to read and enforce a budget.
In fairness, it has been shown that Thornton Township did not elect their current Supervisor, she was appointed for that position.

Thank you for the comparison. I wonder why the Thornton Twp bias doesn’t have or specifically bring up the rules & regulations of the state on how the budget should be presented. I’m very surprised at the lack of budget page for Thornton Twp as well as Dolton in the way Lansing has. I am in a christian organization and our budget is like Lansing’s, a whole lot less pages. If Tiffany henyard has had any accounting in her business courses at college why isn’t she following what was taught? How many trustees in Lansing have business degrees or accounting degrees? The same question for Thornton Twp and Dolton? How many have had experience w/o the degrees but by experience can qualify for the position of trustee?
I hear there’s a certain Super Mayor in Dolton that likes making videos. Of course there would be only one person in all that she produces but the videos will certainly be informative. I’m sure she would love working for the Lansing Journal. I can’t recall her name but if you drive over to Dolton just ask anyone where the lady who’s picture is on all the billboards is.
My city has 264 pages on the budget plan.
The contrast of the woman in this vid to the cartoonish Tiffany H ( and company) is breathtaking!!!
