I know this is a little old. But, when you put out content teaching others, people are going to copy your success. There's millions of businesses that copy the success of others. You aren't going to lose sales because of her. There's no competition. Be proud that you are successful enough for people to copy your skills and knowledge. Most of your followers are here because of your excellence at what you do. What I saw was similar to what you have done or said, but not exactly. She put her own twist even though it was small. Your educating folks and they are going to copy you until they develop their own confidence and style. Keep up the good work. And be proud people want to copy you. ❤
This has been one of my greatest fears since starting my business and growing it on social media. I know who you’re talking about and all I can say is some day she’s going to copy the WRONG person and lose everything. You’ve shown some grace. I’d have a lawyer in my family writing her a cease and desist letter so fast just to ruffle some feathers! Just keep track of all the crap she’s doing ….ya never know. You have some protections even if she is in the UK. You’ve served as an inspiration to me and I hope you never see these “copy cats” as a threat. In the small business community, I can see how some products like mailing bags and thank you stickers can be similar or the same. Especially if these are bought from a common supplier like Amazon. As these are accessible to everyone! However, copying your descriptions word for word and using what you say in your videos as scripts is very different! We could have the same mail bags and thank you card , but it’s your original handmade designs, logo and branding that make them unique to you.. So as long as everybody who is inspired by the same thing , adjusts to their own ideas , it’s ok.. You did a great job at explaining your side of this , love your attitude towards this situation 💕
Yes I 100% agree with this. It’s one thing to have similar packaging or products that’s very common. But it’s another to have similar packaging, products, branding, logos, descriptions, videos, website, link tree, etc. that’s what makes it not okay! ❤️
To me this seems like a lawsuit, I have seen another youtuber go through the same thing and she sued for her rights. I have been running my small business for 17 years and this never gets old 😒 I have had the same on my Ebay shop and website others literally took my designs as their own and pictures and words even when I had my logo on them... also found my pictures of my items I took on other websites... living in the UK we don't have many powers to stop this.. I know its heartbreaking but most of it its not cool at all!!! I love your videos I have them on in the background while I am working your authentic I love watching you expand you've worked hard ❤

I used to have a physical shop in my town and had a copycat, it was extremely annoying especially as its only a small town, she didn't have a shop but was well known locally and had a large following. I actually caught her on camera one night taking photos of my shop window and her mum came in my shop with her phone poking out of her jacket pocket clearly filming for her to get ideas for her. At that point my main product line was tutus and as soon as I came up with a new design 3 days later she was posting an identical design on her social media (only hers looked rubbish ha) The thing is though people who don't have an original idea for their business will get bored as they are not as passionate about it as it isn't truly "their baby" if that makes sense? 8 years later I am still in business (although no longer have a physical shop - thanks to the pandemic) and she is back to working a 9-5. Just keep being you and keep being original. You have passion for your business, I can guarantee that because of your reach this 1 copy cat is a drop in the ocean - you will have many many people trying to emulate your success, they don't have your reach and your audience is with you and not them though so I really wouldn't worry about them!

Especially if it’s something that seems lucrative….every company does it they said Steve Jobs was notorious for taking ideas of others and perfecting them!!!! Girl you have to copyright your stuff. And take this situation further because this is not right. Otherwise het a lawyers letter sent to her that she needs to shut it down. I will be reporting her account as well and email Instagram as well. You have to take further action. It’s the only way she’ll stop. Right now she doesn’t care and does not feel threatened by any words or copycat videos. And I mean that in the most loving way. You need a legal letter from a lawyer giving her a time frame to remove her products, her site and her account. Anyone else reading this, please report her account as ‘pretending to be someone else’ Keep up the good work. I love your vids, also I have my own small business. This has happened to me as well, the person would keep buying like 30 items at a time, they would sell them for also most twice the price.
My heart goes out to you. Same thing happened to me multiple times. I had a girl buying my products wholesale and saying she was the creator, and opened a store with my products as her own. Another time, two women saw my products at a local farmers market and proceeded to copy them in the same town, just changed the name. I tried to be polite but con artists like this are usually not receptive to being called out. I had a cease and desist letter sent to them from an attorney but at the end of the day, we small businesses just don't have the funds for long and expensive court battles every time a copycat pops up. It's sad and exhausting and I am sorry you dealt with this. MANY of us makers have been in your shoe.! You aren't alone. It's because we have amazing items. Lots of love and luck to you. Karma.
It’s a good idea for anyone starting a small business to research copyright laws. I found there’s a really good website for Australian copyright laws and even just looking at one section I found there’s so many small businesses that are in breach and risk legal action.

You can see in her numbers-she’s not even close to what you have. Jealousy and envy don’t look good on copycats. This is why I fear of getting out there but I know that’s bunk. I did research to make sure no one has the same name as me and also the logo I made wasn't close to anyone else. I wanted to make sure I wasn't similar to other people that sell shirts like I do.

I’m actually having a hard time getting my small business off the ground…I’ve been open for 2 years now and have only had one sale! I’ve thought multiple times about closing down shop and then restarting some day but with me being pregnant and needing to make money from home it’s hard to get any sales at all

Maybe you should consider in talking to a lawyer and get legal advice and invest in owning the Rights to Your Designs, on both of your small businesses (Copyright), and informing your viewers you have copyrights to all of your designs, and no one can copy them. And if they do, legal action will take place. I have someone who does this too! I tried to help her -from one small business to another, and she ended up taking all of my product descriptions, and now she takes my product ideas and even mimics my Instagram page. It’s very disheartening.
That is terrible. New business owners look and learn, but these days, copying someone else's journey is unfortunately, turning into the norm. I think people wanting to start their business cannot help themselves - only to end up looking silly - selling nothing. Karma is a b----! Trust and believe, if people know your brand, what you stand for, how you treat your customers and your voice - they can spot the copycats" easily". I have my own business and focus on building it 1 customer at-at-time. It's growing at a pace I can handle - still working a 9 to 5 job, and that is ok with me. We all start with no followers and no customers, but over time, if we are willing to put in the hard work and just DO THE WORK - you will make it. Remove your expectations and your hard work will pay off.. just not in the time you want. Bravo for standing up for yourself and being transparent. These days fans and customers will cut you like a knife if they see someone blatantly copying another shop owner - especially on Tiktok. That is business suicide if you get caught. And just to point out….You told her that you can see your inspiration on her and that YOU think it’s GREAT….“I just ask that you make the videos your own and don’t use any of mine as scripts for yours”, and “I would appreciate if you didn’t copy my exact words but rather using it for Inspiration and then put it into your own words”… which is what she’s technically done… she’s made her own videos…and yes, her words are similar but it’s not 100% the same as yours, ie: she’s used it as (heavy I agree, but still) inspiration and put into her own words. You can tell that English is possibly not her first language… and your own words to her tell her she can do what she has done… therefore sending rather mixed messages if you’re still annoyed by it. Just another outsider perspective 🤗

I've been learning everything I can about ai apps and it sure seems this is how it's done. I'm so sorry you had to go through this. It's super creepy! You are incredibly special. They could literally just use AI to come up with stuff to say, they could even use AI for images, or FREE websites like Pexels, Unsplash, Canva, etc. to inspire her images/ branding. You also inspired me that I could successfully create a TH-cam channel for my business without me showing my face. I have days where I really don't want to be on camera, more often than not. But you showed me that I can still be successful that way on here. Also, rest assured I'm selling a COMPLETELY different type of product from you so my target audience is fairly different than yours. My difficulty lies with figuring out how to balance my personal style and aesthetics with what I'm trying to sell. Which is usually geared toward a more rugged type of audience. It's one heck of a tightrope for sure.

Girl you have to copyright your stuff. And take this situation further because this is not right. Otherwise het a lawyers letter sent to her that she needs to shut it down. I will be reporting her account as well and email Instagram as well.

My heart goes out to you. Same thing happened to me multiple times. I had a girl buying my products wholesale and saying she was the creator, and opened a store with my products as her own. Another time, two women saw my products at a local farmers market and proceeded to copy them in the same town, just changed the name. I tried to be polite but con artists like this are usually not receptive to being called out. I had a cease and desist letter sent to them from an attorney but at the end of the day, we small businesses just don't have the funds for long and expensive court battles every time a copycat pops up. It's sad and exhausting and I am sorry you dealt with this. MANY of us makers have been in your shoe.! You aren't alone. It's because we have amazing items. Lots of love and luck to you. Karma.

It’s a good idea for anyone starting a small business to research copyright laws. I found there’s a really good website for Australian copyright laws and even just looking at one section I found there’s so many small businesses that are in breach and risk legal action.

I'm sorry that is happening to you. I'm starting my own business and I made sure not to copy words that someone else might have used or colors or anything that someone else has done. I did research to make sure no one has the same name as me and also the logo I made wasn't close to anyone else. I wanted to make sure I wasn't similar to other people that sell shirts like I do.
These people will always lack a sense of fulfillment because they know deep down what they did. While you have worked extremely hard to accomplish your goals and should feel very proud of it 🤗❤

If someone is copying your designs, that means you have something very valuable and you need to protect them.
That means, you need to go one step further,
and you need to Protect your business.
Maybe you should consider in talking to a lawyer and get legal advice and invest in owning the Rights to Your Designs, on both of your small businesses (Copyright), and informing your viewers
you have copyrights to all of your designs, and no one can copy them.
And if they do, legal action will take place.

I have someone who does this too! I tried to help her -from one small business to another, and she ended up taking all of my product descriptions, and now she takes my product ideas and even mimics my Instagram page. It’s very disheartening.
That is terrible. New business owners look and learn, but these days, copying someone else's journey is unfortunately, turning into the norm. I think people wanting to start their business cannot help themselves - only to end up looking silly - selling nothing. Karma is a b----! Trust and believe, if people know your brand, what you stand for, how you treat your customers and your voice - they can spot the copycats" easily".
I have my own business and focus on building it 1 customer at-at-time. It's growing at a pace I can handle - still working a 9 to 5 job, and that is ok with me. We all start with no followers and no customers, but over time, if we are willing to put in the hard work and just DO THE WORK - you will make it. Remove your expectations and your hard work will pay off.. just not in the time you want.

And just to point out….You told her that you can see your inspiration on her and that YOU think it’s GREAT….“I just ask that you make the videos your own and don’t use any of mine as scripts for yours”, and “I would appreciate if you didn’t copy my exact words but rather using it for Inspiration and then put it into your own words”… which is what she’s technically done… she’s made her own videos…and yes, her words are similar but it’s not 100% the same as yours, ie: she’s used it as (heavy I agree, but still) inspiration and put into her own words. You can tell that English is possibly not her first language… and your own words to her tell her she can do what she has done… therefore sending rather mixed messages if you’re still annoyed by it. This copycat almost sounds like it's someone using a chat gpt app to copy you with the ai voice programmed in to copy your videos. This could be a guy using the female ai voice. I've been learning everything I can about ai apps and it sure seems this is how it's done. I'm so sorry you had to go through this. It's super creepy! You are incredibly special. It's no wonder you are getting copied.

This is so childish and petty on their end. They could literally just use AI to come up with stuff to say, they could even use AI for images, or FREE websites like Pexels, Unsplash, Canva, etc. to inspire her images/ branding. Then pay for the license if she wants to sell said items. But if she's just using it online as like a background or something then it's free. The amount of resources available to her on the internet and she just mind-numbingly steals from a well-known creator such as yourself is just sad, pathetic, and short-sighted. I too am trying to figure out starting up a business and you're inspiring me. But I would never think to ever steal your hard work, that's lower than low! You've mostly inspired me with how to create my own business cards/ thank you cards. I just needed to know what size they usually are and I enjoyed you showing us exactly how many can fit on a page if we orientate it properly. I mostly needed the thank you card size specification lol Because I actually came up with a strange type of "business card charm" I'm doing instead. I've been folding them for the last few days while I watch your videos to motivate me.
You also inspired me that I could successfully create a TH-cam channel for my business without me showing my face. I have days where I really don't want to be on camera, more often than not. But you showed me that I can still be successful that way on here. Also, rest assured I'm selling a COMPLETELY different type of product from you so my target audience is fairly different than yours. My difficulty lies with figuring out how to balance my personal style and aesthetics with what I'm trying to sell. Which is usually geared toward a more rugged type of audience.
