Interesting portrait about this gifted singer. For me she was magnificent in Strauss: her Empress, Chrysothemis and Salome are close to an ideal. Just her recording of the "Four last songs" is a little bit chilly. But i adore her very much.
A very touching and moving documentary of this most unique and treasurable artist, and kind and exemplary human being. It is nauseating, though, to hear Zubin Mehta talk her up only to later turn on her, having been part and parcel, front and center in an unconscionable and shameful pattern of professional abuse against her (e.g. "Ariadne auf Naxos", Firenze, 1995/96; "Der Freischütz", Munich, 1997/98).
Yes, she sounds like Margaret Price, another famous native English singer. As native German speaker I noted her wrong use of "h" before consonants at German words. Maybe to long vocals. p.s. at singing (esp. Lieder) her German and pronounciation is perfect! She was really an enrichment of German Fach. :)
Es freut mich, den Ausschnitt der Chrysotemis aus
Wien wieder zu sehen. Das war ein Riesenerfolg damals.

Was meinst du eigentlich? Was für ein Missbrauch?
Ich möchte alle verstehen....
Why am I watching this? I don’t even understand German 😂
Leider hat sie zuviel (und auch ganz Alles) gesungen ... Hatte ich in Genf in die "Vier letzte Lieder" gehört and das war eine tolle Erfahrung.
I don’t think that the song at 19:25 is “Frühling”
You’re right. It is „Beim Schlafengehen“.
is she speaking german with an american accent?
