I've used these gearboxes with Bowler carbon blocker rings, and it synchronizes even faster like that. If your engine returns to idle very rapidly, you can out-shift an automatic. The 2.97/0.50 gearset is a wide ratio set for street driving. It boils down to a lower 1st and 2nd gear, so you can creep down to 6mph without stalling, then punch it and take off at the very brink of losing traction. 2nd gear gets you to 73mph! So, you have a dedicated 1st gear that lets you have some fun, then 2nd gear is wider than the 1st gear from the LS7 powered corvette Z06. It's a very good street gearset.
