I'm a serious JM fan and I'm blown away. Never seen anything like this - truly amazing, my absolute hero this guy! I had friends at this festival who chose not to watch JM but watch DJs instead. Fools!!!!! I would have given anything to be there and watch that! Amazing!
i was here. Never heard a band played so well live. it was like i was hearing studio versions of the songs. Amazing band!
Best version of gravity IMO. It's stunning. The solo takes the song to whole new level. You think you've heard it all and then Mayer just floors you and it's unbelievable. He's always been my inspiration for guitar. He may be seen a a dick but I really think he is changing. I've only seen him once but he seems to really be mellowing out. You can even hear it in his music. Love it all. Love people who love him too!
Literally floors you Haha
Check "John Mayer - Gravity @ Crossroads 2007"
I’d just say he’s misunderstood by the people who choose not to like him. You’re right, maybe at one point in time he was a tad douchey. But indeed, he’s humbled himself down. He’s just a genius trapped in a humans body and figuring out how to do that. Hahaha
This is pure rock n roll! He only could get on this level of highness in the Netherlands:D
Man oh man, John always makes a variety of changes in the solo, and everytime it sounds fantastic!
You can tell when he gets that thousand-yard stare, he's in the zone!
I can't believe he made a better performance that the one in COVERED IN rAIN.. Thisis john's at his very best, never EVER have seen him playing like this, and I have been a fan since a long time. He pushed it to the limits, his limits, hope he keeps pushing.
Ohmygosh!!!!!!!!!!
I almost needed to cry.He is THE best performer ever!He is totally awesum!I wanted to go to his concert a few days after but he was sick! And I was in THE US,but im so sorry for all the fans, you can btw also hear it on his voice!Loveeeeeeeee JM
this i must say is his best gravity cover....so fkn great ...the solo was almost made me cry just cuz it was soo amazing lol
My for ever favorite version
He continues to amaze us... He inspires us... TH-cam should have a 1000likes button
Congratulations another great job
He totally floored that solo
LOOOVEE the camera work!! amazing...and the women in the audience,,,so gorgeous...and john...just mesmerizing...
I laughed way too hard at this....my abs cramped. That caption to that face was just...perfect.
OMG, the GOOSEBUMPS! hate that some people are that much better than me, but on the other hand i'm ever thankful that guys like John exists! :D
he had people crying...he's a legend enough said
I heard on an interview, that he admitted that the Battle Studies was more about having fun and would eventually get him in the mood for playing serious guitar songs again in his next album. Can't wait!
This guy is a going to be a Legend.
It is so cool to me that his band and singers seem to still be astonished by his ability despite playing with him night in and night out.
every time he plays this song he manages to keep it fresh
8:43 that face says everything
By Far my favourite version!
mine too
@@NaMorales glad to see that!
I don't know why so many people talk so much crap on John's back up singers. Those two ladies have some incredible pipes. When they come in with "I've got dreams.." at 4:27 I got chills...
Tnx for the upload,
WHAT a legend! :D
Still love this concert
They talk a lot about the insane solo at the end, but I kept repeating the first solo at 2:02 hundreds of times.
It’s gorgeous dude ,idk what pedals he’s using ,it sounds a bit different than other performances of gravity but it sounds absolutely beautiful
Absolutely beautiful! :) Thanx sqlife
Imagine being that good... and KNOWING that you're that good
@antony5linteau the solo is in G aswell A is the 2nd note in a g major scale so it becomes a minor so some notes of the Am pentatonic scale will work. also he could be using the second box position of the open em pentatonic
Ahhhh, fuckin love the Black One's tone!!!! Cool video too, gotta love some of those fishlens shots!!!
Holy shit that's Keith Carlock on drums
how the HELL could you ever DISLIKE THIS
2:04 2:22 what a Lovely guitar tone !!! 🥺
One of the most incredible tones he's ever achieved. I'm dying to know what pedals were engaged here. Can see he's ayimg through sss#2 and tr sig... But man, it's so saturated and beautiful, really unique sound for him I've never heard replicated
@@JordansTake35I’ve been dying to know too bro 😭, for years ,it doesn’t sound like other performances of gravity ,it sounds powerful asf and he’s playing simple notes for that first solo ,so melodic
How could you dislike this ??
blijft tof om te kijken :D
zelf meer dan een jaar na '' :')
What's even more insane is that i'm pretty sure he is stoned as fuck here.. Look at his eyes when they do a close up. Not to mention he is in the netherlands where weed is legal...
great version of this song.
Epic face in the beginning! It's like he is going "just another day, whatever i got it under control!"
the ole "fuck... this song again" face
This man is a freaking legend.......
Stunning
The tone coming out of that guitar........
john is fantastic! wow.....
simply stunning...
Such an underrated guitarist.. just like Alex Lifeson.
I've just recently discoverd this guy, and normally every guitarist i learn to know i'm like nah he plays bad and shit, but with this guy, i mean come on. this is just awesome man!
Used to. He's no longer underrated now after 9 years of rocket songs and numerous well known performances :)
Breathtaking!
the best young guitarist
freakin love this man.
That's a Damn good version!
If I was in that crowd I would have shit myself repeatedly for every minute of the solo
@MrNebelful In-ear monitors, those things he has in his ear almost everything is set at a different level for him (and the other musicians) than what you hear
love u and your music John
Everyone remember hendrix at woodstock? such an historic piece of footage. This video, although not yet, will definitely be something to remember come 30 years time.
Props to John, that playing on the floor shit is hard. My fingers just don't want to work that way.
just takes a lot of getting used to
anyone know how jm gets that spacey tone? listening to him solo makes me feel like im floating in space...
probably a tube screamer involved in there somewhere.
Reverb and really
Expensive amplifiers
In the "Where the Light Is" album, John Mayer rewrote the history of guitar playing…Now, he's rewriting his own history.
Proper player. Classy, refined, feel.
awesome
John Ray Hendrix !
That guitar solo at the end, man. Good lord.
Fantastic, as always. Loving the scruffy look. hehe
@aseriousoffender haha i meant to say its out of all the live performences hes done this is the best one yet
I look at all those teens singing along with a happy face and wonder if they even know that Blues is a music genre.
The spirit of Jimi Hendrix possessed him in this one
john mayer pop blues my favorite
LOL good one
Greatest solo ever
Can't help but giggle
MASTERFUCKINGPIECE
6:23 Can't get over how cool this part is. It sounds like a train on steroids or something. The way the drums peak with it. Perfect!
JOHNNNNNNNN
not only is he amazing in this, the girls in the audience are as well
@MrNebelful
I love mine. The neck is one of the best I've ever felt on a strat, very chunky which makes for comfortable chording IMO. Pickups aren't bad either. I just have the stock ones in mine and it sounds great. Only thing that is different is I had the Treble Bleed mod installed on mine so I don't lose any highs when i turn the volume down. One of the best strats for under 2 grand if you ask me.
@otherw1s3 I think you mistunderstood me.. when I said hum I meant the 60 cycle hum from single coil pickups... when meant how he deals with it.. I meant how is there so little hum in a place filled withelectromagnetic activity like that one.. using a fuzz with long silences.. thanks for the reply anyway :P
Epic!
@lukeandrewchesser he said he felt like social media and media in general was putting constraints on his thoughts and was hindering his ability to make good music. So he's taking a break from it all. It seems like he's working hard on his new album, but keeping his fans in the dark about some of what he is doing. Type in violetskyye in youtube and some of his new songs will come up if you wanna listen
fantastico!!
aww his face at 1:25 was so happy caause of everyone's singing
Now ladies love slow blues too :) thanks John
That, ladies and gentlemen, is what I call a performance..
this is my smokin song!
@MrNebelful
I'm going to assume that his guitars are all properly shielded. I have a Fender 62 Hot rod Reissue that is shielded with some shielding paint and tape and there is zero hum.
@JusticieroDeLaMuerte I dont know, but I cant be sad with Keith!
John Mayer is a guitar god !
@DlMan92 Its not a cover, he wrote Gravity
epic!!!
I hope for Johns next album he goes full blown Delta Blues on it. I think that could be incredible..
He got pretty close
5:35 Stevie Ray Vaughn
magic
4.45 is my favorite vocal part :D
@maxisslipknot Steve Jordan made the Winter tour whith John, but then came out another project, so hemove out the Summer Tour, but not like forever!!!!!! So, to replace him in the Summer Tour he get Keith Karlock, and the currently bass player is Sean Hurley, because De'La isn't playing with John anymore, he sort of making a solo career, with the projects that he want to build, you know?
@cenafan25 Wow probably couldn't of worded it better myself! I completely agree with your opinion. Plus John Mayer has his own feels and grooves tht can be completely different to Clapton and SRV.
@andrewguitar67 thank.s man ... that's the guitar (the one you have) that I've been saving for like crazy.. been searching for a top quality strat that will not give me limitations in terms of feel for bluesing shredding chording etc. how's yours?
lo mejor de lo mejor
@FannyEssen1 Of course the player/picking style matters but there is no denying the tone out of the guitar itself.
@lukeandrewchesser I agree with a lot of what you're saying and I'm somewhat worried about him hiding from everyone. Let's just keep in mind he's one of the greatest musical minds of this time and hope he pulls out some great music. Also if you listen to early versions of assassin and heartbreak warfare they sound like they would be predictable and boring songs, but they are great. I really do hope he returns to pouring out his soul in the guitar like he did with the trio and continuum though
They look like they woke up❤
@samicta I'm a huge John Mayer Fan, but let's be real.. he didn't do anything really that ground breaking on "Where the light is". He is an amazing player, but most of the techniques he utilizes were pioneered long before he was born.
@Tharx89 Did I ever say what he did was easy? No. Honestly though if you ever listened to any blues player that came before Mayer, there is nothing really in his playing that hasn't been done before, period. Trust me I've listened to everything he has ever done, I even have bootlegs from before 1998-1999. Now where Mayer really innovates I believe is in his Chord voicing and progressions.
Anyone know what distortion he uses for the solo at 2:04? I need to know! ;slkja;sd;foaijs it's sooo good.
@YogiSizzle well no shit... i meant to say its the best live performance hes done yet
holy. shit.
That face at 5:40... Feelings.
