    Part 2: • The Journey of a Pipe ...
Rick Newcombe, author of In Search of Pipe Dreams and Still Searching for Pipe Dreams, came down to the workshop to visit and sit for a conversation about pipes and the pipe community. This is the third of three parts of the conversation.
In this conversation, Rick and I discuss some of the pipes that he brought to my workshop for us to look at and restore. His appreciation for fine briars is unique in that he doesn't limit the collection based on region, maker, finish, or shape. Instead, he is of the opinion that a well made pipe should perform well--whether it came from a factory or an artisan's workshop. We take a look at work from Ken Barnes of James Upshall Pipes, Jess Chonowitsch, Sixten Ivarsson, S. Bang, and even some of my own J. Alan Pipes.
