@@Bocha666 .. How would a photoresistor work to remotely determine proximity and distance? So far, I haven't found a solution. A laser ruler for building construction is the closest I've seen (distance & direction), but linking that to a computer is beyond me. Wired, not Bluetooth, is critical.

I assume so, it uses IR light, meaning infrared, which should not be bothered by UV light

I know hardly anything but, I think he means like a photocell. Think of lights on and off with sundown and sunup. Or like the high line cars have had for years, dims the headlights when approaching on coming traffic or well lit areas. That’s what I think it means anyway.

2. Use bigger obstacle (like light colored wall)

Tried this and the LED is always Lit, even if I remove the IR transmitter, the LED is still lit. Please help, I cant figure out what seems to be the problem. Thank you.
Change the IR receiver polarity it's working while in diagram the polarity is not true of the receiver.
