  • Gymnast Amy Tinkler has revealed she had no other option but to quit the sport less than four years after becoming Great Britain’s youngest medallist at the Rio 2016 Olympics.
She says her complaint about her 'experiences as a club and elite gymnast', and the subsequent failure of governing body British Gymnastics to act on it, led her to announce her retirement in January.

For YEARS gymnastics coaches have openly _(on international Olympic telecasts)_ given the young female gymnasts a slap on the rear after their routines & nobody has said anything.

British team decided to bully their best gymnast in a long time...okay...that really was not only horrible and cruel to her, but was also dumb...

All sports do it,I got it when I was an ice skater about weight, constantly training, had to wear a knee brace and eat a strict diet etc I had to quit when I was 18 due to a knee injury that would never heal probably because I've injured it too many times and I torn the cartilage in my knee. I was easily forgotten about after 2 weeks yet I was always wanted when I was there

I'm almost certain a similar story broke a few years ago about top level gymnastics in the us.

How it touching? They are literally lying through their teeth. Amy had everything handed to her while every other gymnast was put aside for her Olympic dream. Roxanne worked for the gym after retirement for a number of years and still judges at competitions the gym holds and Emilys mum just whined all the bloody time because her mother thought she was better than she was.

It’s similar for any sport and includes men . Weight is critical for performance in many cases. Unfortunately.

Eskiah Landells I go to the gym and I’ve never seen anyone be shamed for their weight, plenty of gymnast attending the gym are bigger gymnasts.

I don’t think it’s weight. I think it’s a matter of strength balance. Look at gymnasts now -Americans largely dominate due to the difference in muscle strength (compared to the 80’s through 00’s). Aly Raisman, Simone, Jordan, Jade...they’re all really strong, balanced and they are the athletes who dominate the sport. The whole thing is absurd. Like daily weigh ins? We all know that muscle weighs more than fat. The whole thing is truly absurd.
