It really is Pathetic that the EU allowed itself to become So Dependent on Russian oil & gas.. Why would they let themselves get into that situation? If only places could change their minds & started to support Nuclear energy options to collaborate with their power grid. That would really allow places to be a lot more energy independent. Countries would be Less reliant on fossil fuels. Countries could have efficient & stable electrical grids and then the rest of their power grids could experiment with alternative energy sources, they could power desalination plants, the list goes on. Anything would be better than being dependent on Russia for the majority of your countries heating & energy.. That's ridiculous
If Europe want to get their gas and oil from somewhere else, it would means they have to reconnect with a lot of oil and gas producers other than Russia. But the problem now is, Europe did not have a good or stable relationships with all of them.
@tigerlancer That's not going to be relevant in the short term. Mid-term and long term, sure, but the amount time that it would take to set up green infrastructure will take too long for the winter that is today. Not to mention the US makes solar panels.

It’s nowhere near that much more expensive. Also, bankrupting Russia in order to avoid an otherwise inevitable later invasion of the Baltic’s & Poland is a far higher priority than paying a bit more for gas
Tougher and more comprehensive U.S. sanctions would severely impact the Russian economy by curbing growth, devaluing the ruble, and limiting key industry operations, thereby pressuring the government to change its aggressive policies.

Everything I am hearing from this video just pushes the conclusion that we need to complete the transition away from fossil fuels to renewable sources which will not only provide cheaper electricity once facilities are complete, but also increase energy security so that the leaders of a totalitarian state can not effectively hold other countries energy supply hostage.
The European Union's dependency on Russian gas is largely attributed to the influence of corrupt political decisions. This reliance must come to an end. It is imperative for the EU to undergo a decisive transformation to secure its energy independence. Nuclear power offers a solution to a significant portion of the problem, while the remainder can be addressed through the adoption of renewable energy sources and innovative technologies.
European leaders should be sacked ASAP becouse of what they are doing. Our electricity bills have skyrocket and now next thing is oil and gas prices. People and buisness going under becouse of it.
You are missing a simple truth: there is such a thing as global consumption of gas and oil, as well as their production. Imagine that in your city there are only two bakeries, let's call them "A" and "B". If half of the residents refuse to buy from bakery "A", then they will simply have no choice but to buy from bakery "B". What will this lead to? All the remaining residents will simply be forced to buy from bakery "A", because there will be no products left in "B". The gas that the US supplied to the Asian market is now going to Europe. Since the US is unable to cover all the demand, the vacated slots will simply be filled with Russian gas. Yes, the Russian economy will definitely lose some percentage of profits, plus significant investments in infrastructure were required... but even if notional profits fall by a crazy 20%, the price fluctuations caused by instability as a result of such decisions will smooth everything out considerably. The expected "lost profits" will amount to $1-1.5 billion in the first year or two. This is not a small, but it certainly will not bring Putin to negotiating. At least for Russia is winning on the front lines.
