- Ok here we go again! Though we were always planning on watching this we decided to get it done straight away after a recommend. And wow did this play with our emotions, first we grow fond of Charlotte then grow fond of King George and then all hell seems to fall on our heads and why? Teenage drama returns thats why!

Its finny how no one notices that George calls Charlotte "incomparable" the first time he meets her and in Bridgerton, that's what she calls the diamond of the season.
This show is about the real people King George and Queen Charlotte, but it’s a fictional twist on real characters in history. Like the film “Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter”. A real US President, but a fictional twist on history.
And yes, she is Lady Violet Bridgerton. Kate is Vicountess Bridgerton.
7:31 Yep - that's her son. Her eldest - George, the then current Prince Regent since George the Third was considered mentally incapable of ruling, and later George the Fourth. From what I can tell he's generally seen as something as a joke by history due to his eating and drinking habits that that he declared bankruptcy twice (I think) during his time as regent. He only married his wife, Caroline of Brunswick, because Parliament agreed to pay off his debts if he did. George and Caroline disliked each other before they met and it only got worse afterwards. He was always looking for a way to divorce her, managed to somehow prevent her having next to any input in their daughter Charlotte's life, and didn't even invite her to his coronation. But by all accounts he did genuinely love his daughter.
His daughter Charlotte did die giving birth to a stillborn boy, apparently she was the first 'people's princess' before Diana and was preferred by the public over her father and grandfather.
George and Charlotte had 15 children - 2 boys died before they were five (numbers 13 and 14 actually), while Charlotte was pregnant with her 15th. The 15th died in her mid-twenties - re the Amelia mentioned in Charlotte scene with George in season 1. I guess Lady Whistledown added her in the number because she lived till adulthood.
But whether it's 12, 13 or 15, how Charlotte as willing or able to walk afterwards being pregnant over 10 times is beyond me.
8:03 Well George is the heir but there's no heir after him, at least no direct ones. There's no guarantee that his younger brothers will outlive him (the second eldest Frederick didn't) so there needs to be someone who's a definitely second in line to the throne from the younger generation.
